The results are indeed similar and you could make a case with the Canard/Davies comparison, but RV was a lot more dominant in ‘08, finished at least second every race he wasn’t taken out in, and was clearly the fastest guy. Deegan had moments of being the fastest guy too, but not on RV’s level
I agree. I didn't think he would win every race but after levi was out I expected a lot more than we were seeing at the beginning when this thread was started. So was he underwhelming when this thread was started yes. Did he improve yes. Was the last race a better deegan than I expected this year yes. If you're on here saying haters and doubters be honest with yourself on what you expected deegan to do with levi out then go watch back the first part of the season. You're lying to yourself if you expected those results at the beginning when we had talks of undefeated season.
Deegan underwhelmed at A1 after falling and then finished 3rd in San Diego I believe. A look back and Ju Ju proved he was very fast and so did Cole those two likely faster than anyone on the East. Jordan Smith was fast until he was injured and Mosiman was solid and Joe won a race. Still Deegan had four wins and podiumed the rest of the season… that last race Deegan smoked everyone by 9+ seconds at the end but his lead was up to 12 seconds before slowing down the last two laps. Can’t wait till Pala.

Outside of a huge internet & social media marketing campaign this shows who the “Generational Talent” really is;
Crazy you can lead that many laps and lose an 8 race series by 50 points
It is but then you remember he is just a rookie. Nothing against Cole but he had a few true rookie mistakes. I think once cleaned up no one will stand a chance. Cant forget he would of also won the Glendale race but a tuff block got kicked out infront of him while in the air. That wasn't his fault at all. He won the first 2 races convincingly then got 8th. Im not a guy to say generational talent but everything he's shown in supercross so far has said generational talent to me.
LOL
That happens when your teammate cleans you out so you lose points…..and poor luck when you miss time a rhythm section and get landed on…trip to hospital.
Wow man....you are next-level DDS.....
The only lap that really matters is the one that ends with the checkered flag.
I agree with the post on here that the word “underwhelming” must have different definitions for everyone. I’m not a Deegan fan, but I fully expected him to mop the floor with the majority of the West Coast especially once Kitchen was out.
I can’t remember if it was this thread, or another around the same time where I criticized Haiden and pointed out that he just didn’t have that same “intensity” in the beginning of the year that we were so used to seeing him with. A few weeks later he started looking like how I remembered his riding to be, and that was around the same time that he stopped training with Christian Craig and went back to the more default Star training program. He’s not my guy, but I was glad to see that ballsy ragged edge riding style come back to form, and I fully believe he is the guy to beat come outdoors.
Fuck dude give it up! why you are so triggered by everything Deegan is beyond me...
LOL
DonM triggered by mere facts?
I’m not a fan boy of anyone but RC didn’t have anything close to the competition in his day that all SX riders have today.
Actually I’m a huge fan of facts but you are so triggered by anything Deegan you can’t help yourself but to try discredit him at every turn…be an adult and enjoy the skill and talent he has as it doesn’t come around very often and don’t get so wrapped up in the off track BS….works for me…
Hint: I just posted 100% easily verified facts.
That these facts bother you says a lot.
You can’t just be happy for the 17 year old nice kid?
Pit Row
Are you fucking deft? I am happy for and a big fan of Cole facts are facts and I never disputed them or actually said anything about them….let me spell it out for you….you go out of your way to shit on Deegan because anything he does triggers you, so much so you think I’m hating on Davis when I’m just calling your dumb ass out for allowing him to trigger you so much….just enjoy the races and the talent these guys have and leave your drama at home…
LOL, the fact that your so upset is mind boggling
How is posting facts “Shitting on Deegan”…? It’s just a fact, Cole season one is better. Substantially better.
Get used to it
WTF! Upset? I’m so far from upset but if that makes you happy enjoy….
Facts don’t care about feelings
Apparently yours or the Deegan Marketing Machine
RC was that good. There was plenty of comp that he swatted out of the sky like a little red headed Godzilla on two wheels. Hell, even the FMOTP couldn't stop him especially outdoors. It used to irritate the hell out of me lol.
Get used to what? There are numerous riders who had substantially better rookie seasons (more wins, won title) than Cole and they ended up not being generational.
Your error is assuming that Cole’s rookie season trajectory will continue in the same direction for his career, which isn’t always, and more often than not, the case.
People throw around the term generational too much. I think the only rider in a while who fits that would be Jett. And even Jett has had some hiccups along the way.
Cole is obviously really talented and showed us in the right circumstances he can win SX races against half a field of talent. The jokers that want to anoint every young dude that flashes a lot of speed early on the next RC of MC or RD (The Man) make things miserable on this forum. Jett aint looking so generational at the moment either. He's looking like a guy with a ton of speed that gets hurt a lot kind of like Herlings. I'll leave one name here... Robby Reynard.
And furthermore, yes Haiden was underwhelming early in the series, and he did what champions usually do, he fixed it. Sheesh!
Just so we’re clear…
Who’s the 2025 250 West SX Champion?
I love hating on Deegan but he brought home the championship, and nothing can discredit that. I’m still in shock that Cole Davies is as polished and good as he is
Jett hasnt shown himself to be injury prone like Herlings in any shape or fashion
Cole has shown under the right circumstances he can beat the guy who won the championship and solidly beat the whole 250 field in the last shootout, as a rookie.
I was just thinking how Jett winning 250 & 450 championships indoors and out reminds me of Robbie Reynard as well.
Maybe you should take this to the Hot Takes thread 😆
