Reviving my old bikes at the minute that haven't been riden in far too long unfortunately looking for some recommendations on what air filter oil to get.

I was looking at notoil as I like the idea of one I can wash in the sink instead of having buckets of chemicals are the bio oils any good any recommendations welcome

No toil has gone down hill, I can’t get their oil to stay on the filter. I used them for years without problems but had to give up on them. The belray oil rickyism is referring to is without a doubt the best stuff. I used it a long time ago when I was a kid just starting out, but got tired of having to clean my filters with gasoline. Maybe Ricky has a better process?

As of now I’m using maxima fab1 spray on oil with their spray on cleaner. I feel it’s a good balance of effectiveness and ease of cleaning.

Seems like 2 strokes dirty the filter much more than  4 strokes so dont risk it, I'd say Maxima FFT. 4 stroke you can get away with No toil.

I'd say the opposite.  4-strokes pull harder vacuum at the filter.   However, a 4-stroke will tolerate a little dust more than a 2-stroke will.  2-stroke pistons and rod bearings are very sensitive to dirt.   I'm on the Bel-Ray wagon also.  40+ years of using it.

Zip lock bag, no gloves required, and reusable!

Thanks for all the recommendations I will see what's available online in the uk.

Just out of interest are any of the bio ones any good or does everyone swear clear

Been a NoToil user for decades both 2 and 4 strokes. I just use Oxi-clean and hand wash in the laundry sink. Tried the green bio NoToil stuff and promptly switched back to the red stuff. Didn't like the coverage of the green Evolution stuff if I remember right.

Twin air bio and clean with standard tide detergent is the best/cost effective I’ve used. Ran no toil for a while, but seemed to always be able to wipe the inside of the air boot and get a very fine dust

For strong, tacky petroleum based oils like Bel Ray, I use odororless mineral spirits to clean, then a 2nd round of dawn dish soap and water to get the residuals out.   I buy a 5 gal orange bucket with a lid from home depot and 3 gallons of mineral spirits.  Dump the spirits in the bucket and you can use that 3 gallons for many, many filters until it gets too saturated with oil and dirt.  Then just take the bucket to the local dump "household chemicals" turn in and start over with a new one.   I probably get close to 100 filter cleanings out of 1 bucket.

I can't get most of these brands in the uk for some so avoiding notoil and bio stuff I can twin air non bio, moterex, or putoline action oil.

If anyone has experience with these filter oils would be great to get some opinions on them.

If those are my options, I’m going with Twin Air’s offering.

Maxima FFT, Bel Ray, Twin Air, in that order. The process described above is exactly what I've been doing for 20 years. You can't go wrong using those oils and cleaning with this method. Filters last forever too.

No Toil green is fine.  Very easy to clean and the oil does the job.  I think we probably have a tendency to overoil....then it drips out....we see the drippings and think "there's something wrong."  Start with a clean and dry filter.  Apply the No-Toil and let it sit for a bit. Install and ride
