Was that a move for the championship? I think I would have whooped Deegs ass after that one to let him know that taking out teammates in practice ain't cool.

This was more on Davies than it was on Deegan, go watch the replay.

I have heard some of what RC has said about Stewart at Southwick when James said he wouldn't ride the second moto unless they groomed it. Its not much worse than the stuff my friends an I have said to each other when calling each other out. I'm sure he may have had some real choice words at Unadilla, and Binghamton when James almost did it again, but instead only took himself out that time.

Zach Osborn took  out Joey  in a much more aggressive move for the title.

Dylan Fernandes cleaned out more people in his last year on 250's than Deegan has his entire time on 250's.

J-Law was smoking pot in the Pro pits right after and before getting the fastest laps in practice.

Riders have admitted to likely still being drunk the day of a race from the night before and have still been able to be an all time great rider.

And I'm sure I could list more riders that have said dumber things on the podium or for sure off the track,  and taken out more guys.

I don't like to watch that style racing personally. I did enjoy riding aggressively and banging back and forth early on in my racing ( probably why I walk like a duck and it sounds like bubble wrap popping as I move). But as far as watching, I find it is often more exciting when they race clean enough that nobody crashes or gets slowed down to the point that they are too far behind to try and put up a fight.

I find it funny how people want the riders to be themselves, would like to see them talk more trash,  that they miss the aggressive block passes of the 90's or whatever. And then come and hate on Deegan when he delivers just because he has a famous Dad.  At this point , Deegan would have the ride he has even if his Dad was MX addic. His riding has backed up the support he has.

I don't love the WWE style stuff. But I think that he mostly is respectful of other racers during the races. Not really any worse than  a lot of top guys are. He's just amplifying his personality, or being himself. I think hes going to be a great 450 racer, probably be like Jett and be better on a 450 than he is on a 250.

I agree 100%.  I also don't think it's WWE at all, I think it is him being himself.  Personally, I think he is shifty eyed pain in the ass and I want him to get worked outdoors, but I love it he is there.  We need the trash talk and it's far more fun when it's there.  The interviews with RJ and Hannah in the 80's to Bradshaw and Matiasevich in the 90's to J Law and many more.  We need the rivalries, not every rider training together and bro-ing down.

Does anyone want it to be boring as hell like when it was RV and Dungey?  Amazing riders during that time, but boring as hell.  Pick your side and enjoy the ride!

If theres one thing I've learned about this sport its that its "fans" will complain no matter what happens. Hell, they'll ask for something and then still complain when it happens.

Fans of this sport are bigger crybabies than NBA fans at this point. Couldn't imagine trying to going through life and this is all it takes to wreck your day.

I don't mind him being him as far as the trash talking. It will get more eyes on the interviews, like him or hate him. You will wonder what he will say.

I didn't love the take out. But who knows what he and Davies have said to each other ,etc.  I think that if You want to show You are the fastest guy, You race clean and let Your speed win.

I used to get disappointed when RC would take somebody wide and kill their momentum so they couldn't clear the next jump and that was all it took to throw them off on the rhythm for that section and RC would be gone. Not that most of the time many of those guys would have kept with him for much longer anyway. But He always did it and  killed what could have been an exciting battle. Maybe  he was worried those guys would try and knock him down.

The races that have been 1 or 2 seconds between 1st and 2nd with Sexton and Tomac or Jett, Kenny, etc. Have been so much more exciting in my opinion.  Of course if You could capture the intensity of a battle with riders banging into each other and knocking each other off the track ,without taking each other down for an entire 30+ 2 that would be wild to watch too. But I don't know that will happen. Perhaps if Vince Freise could race himself.

Even as classless as I am I thought it was a bit much on the broadcast. It was funny how the crew in the booth were all crickets. He did win though, only thing anyone can do is get better and beat him and I think Cole is getting close and fast. Can’t wait for outdoors

He already is faster than Deegan, at least in SX. That's why Deegan smashed him off the track. I want to like Deegan as he is the best up and coming American and does have the talent.  But I can't get behind his classless mouth and the way he races people who are a threat to him.

If he is faster, then how did Deegan catch him?

The same shit Jcoop did this weekend.

Marvin Musquin rolled over in a previous race and gave Dungey the win, securing a points gap that Tomac could not catch in the last race.

After 48 hours, here's my take:

Deegan was faster. He was catching Davies. The pass was all but inevitable.
Now, normally I would say taking out a rider to pass him is a sign of weakness - demonstrating that you don't think you can make a pass stick. I'd also say, "don't take out your teammate." I'd also say "Deegan has a huge points lead; he doesn't need to win tonight."

However, as posted earlier, if you can clinch a championship, do it early. Tomorrow is not a given. Deegan saw an opportunity to win and took it. Did he take out his teammate with the intention of making sure Davies wouldn't be able to remount and finish higher than 5th? Maybe. The spot he chose sure seems to support that theory. But even so, that's a part of Supercross racing and championship strategy. A dirty strategy, for sure, but this is not the first time such a thing has happened.

Finally, that "takeout" wasn't extremely vicious or over the top. There were two very established lines going into that corner and Davies should have seen it coming. There was definitely a bump, and Deegan could certainly have avoided colliding with #100, but he didn't saw the guy's front wheel off like I've seen him do to Beaumer.

I'm not stoked that Deegan won in that manner, but I'm also not going start lighting the pitchforks, either.

Ferrandis in 2020 probably, he had to go through a lot of boos that whole year

Was that a move for the championship? I think I would have whooped Deegs ass after that one to let him know that taking out teammates in practice ain't cool.

And Davies owned it. Like a man. Did he learn from it? I would venture to say that he did. I wonder if Deegs did... We'll see going forward I suppose.

Deegan didn’t mean to put him down, but it happened and he won the championship. Move on. Davies probably won’t leave himself open like that again teammate or not. People saying he could’ve went and got 2nd in SLC and wrapped it up, well he could also snap a wrist practicing this week and wouldn’t be able to race this weekend. It goes both ways.

The only reason he said what he said on the podium is because of the boos he got after riding his heart out and winning the title. I don’t blame Haiden one bit for what he said.

There is never any reason to say that on the podium.

Deegan could've avoided all of this hate by simply being humble on the podium, and said something to the effect " I hate Davies went down, that wasn't my intention". Instead he doubled down and went to Uber douche level.

"dont negotiate with terrorists" Had he given a heartfelt apology, and said the most humble things possible, the people booing would still boo, and the people who hate him and think he sucks would have precisely ZERO change of opinion.  their minds are made up, you arent going to change them by pandering.  tell em to suck it, give em a reason to interact on your accounts and watch the bank account grow.

Retired RV would have been so much more fun to watch than Pro racer RV. I became a fan after hearing him on a Pulp show and seeing how he really was. I bet that he would have had a ton more fans if he had been himself instead of the Robot RV he was during his racing. Thats a great example of the 2 types of riders.

If You could have RV openly enjoy himself like retired RV or have been the rider that lists his sponsors instead of answering the questions like he often did. Which would You rather have?

This whole You hate Deegan because his dad is famous has to stop. It’s the most ridiculous take. Fans don’t like him because he acts like a douche when he wins and acts like a douche when he loses. If he showed some respect to his competitors and the fans of the sport he would have twice as many fans. The pass wasn’t bad but I’m starting to wonder if he has the racecraft to actually set up a pass. Anyone can do the Barcia pass.

If Your favorite rider got booed and told the crowd to Suck it, How would You feel about it?  Its not like Haiden was caught in a You tube video or some off the track, off the broadcast videos. He knew what he was doing.

Personally, I think he is shifty eyed pain...

Retired RV would have been so much more fun to watch than Pro racer RV. I became a fan after hearing him on a Pulp show...

Retired RV 100%

Is it really that hard to be a good dirt bike racer AND a decent human being?

Ryan Dungey, Andrew Short, Trey Canard, and some more...quality humans, and brutally fast riders who wouldn't maliciously crash out anybody, but if it came down to it, they would stand their ground. Yeah, it ain't impossible.
