I don't know about the renting a bike there as I haven't done that there, but I can tell you for a fact, the beginning of September will be hot as fuck. Unbearable? Yes, probably. Typically around 100-105 degrees the first week of September in North TX and San Antonio area will be 96 to 100 degrees at that time.

In the morning in when the humidity is highest so depends on how well you do with thick air.

It's just hot and humid. You should be fine.

If you aren’t accustomed to the heat you will not have fun. Typically July- September we will ride from 9-12. About 3 motos and then you call it a day. I ride both days and just make each shorter days.

Cycle Ranch was my home track until 2020.  Great track that could/should have been a National instead of Freestone.  Always worth a ride.

Don't know about their bike rentals since that's something they started since I moved away.

September in San Antonio.😳  Will most likely easily hit 100 on any given day.  Sometimes cools off to 80 at midnight...have seen 90 degrees well into darkness.  Take water, drink more than you think you need to.  Drink some more.

Ride early...there's a reason folks in Texas put their bikes away from June to October.

Cycle Ranch is a cool place, and the tracks are in excellent practice condition. I thought it was a little slice of motocross heaven, except i was working not playing.

I thought Louisiana folk where more hardcore than that.  High humidity & heat is my favorite.  It only gets to 94 in Wi. rare to get hotter but I,ll ride all day . Muggier & hotter the better,  hard on a bike though .  I, m in Louisiana now near New Orleans.

I don't know a single person that rides that puts their bike away during the summer. We don't put our bikes away any time. One of the great things about our state is we can ride 365 days a year.

Cycle Ranch is awesome btw, one of the best tracks in the state. Idk about renting though. The heat isn't that bad. Get there early in the morning and ride until 1:00 or 2:00, close it down and head to the river to cool off.

edit: By not that bad, I mean it's not any worse than any other Texas track. It's objectively hot here, but it's not the end of the world.

The heat is very tough, hotter than my time in West Palm Beach, Fla. Having said that, you can and do get acclimated to the conditions. Still, not sure you will get comfortable during a short vacation. Here’s to hoping you have a fantastic time and leave with some great memories !

Keep that same energy in July. We still ride but you nor anyone else can do over an hour of riding(total) in the day. I’ve literally seen people have heat stroke. We ride and as the other guy said we don’t put up our bikes, but you have to be smart during the high temp seasons.

Also, last summer was fairly mild so we rode pretty much like normal. However, the summer of 2023 was crazy hot. It was over 90 degrees with high humidity unloading at the track at 8 am. If we get a summer like 2024 you will be fine. If it’s like 23 then that’s where people start dropping like flies.

If you're acclimated to the heat and humidity you'll be fine, if not you'll struggle. Either way you'll want to be out of there by mid afternoon.

I didn't realize they have a rental fleet down there, I'm tempted to try it out. I'm in S.A. often but never with a bike.

All rental information and bikes available for rent are on their website https://cycleranchmx.com/products/dirt-bike-rentals-motocross-pit-trail-bike-ebike

They usually open at 8:30am during the hotter months, Saturdays full prepped National Track, Sundays half prepped sometimes full prepped.  It’s open everyday till dark, and until 10pm on Thursday Nights with fully prepped Night Track.

They have a cafe with ac you can hang out in between motos, or you can rent a climate controlled cabin. The owner just informed me that you can start riding at sunrise!

That was my "home" track from 2000-2008. Used to be awesome red dirt/clay with some sand mixed in.

Texas is HOT, September, yeah 90-100 easy.

I love people that say the heat does not bother them. Living in Texas my whole life and I will tell you come on down and enjoy the heat. The summer is about 5 months long in general. 95 degrees at 11 pm at night and about 90 at 10 am. Plus hardly any rain for a good 4-5 months as well. You will change your mind after a extended stay.

I’m ending my trip in Denver Colorado. According to the heat maybe it’s better to rent a bike in The Denver area (if that’s even possible)? I don’t know if they have a track that are as fun as Cycle ranch looks.

I have only been there in the spring and conditions were very nice, now at the end of a long Texas summer the track might be completely different.  As far as the heat and humidity, late august early september is probably the worst time of the year, and riding faster feels like riding in front of a hair dryer.  You should be fine in the mornings, some tracks close in the afternoons, im not sure what their schedule is that time of year.

Seriously the heat & humidity doesn’t bother me actually it’s my favorite weather , hotter the better.  From as a kid bailing hay with a flannel  shirt on in the mauw. To 700 degrees from 2 industrial engines & exhaust blowing on u while working 100 lb bags like your sprinting 12-18 hr days. Trucking inside of trailers gets 260 & it’s muggy hand unld 45k.   A hot Louisiana chic lastnight said the same thing hotter the better. That state is hotter than Tx. Or way more mugger . 2 yrs ago Tx. Got hot tho I was there .  Every summer a different state has the hottest day 4-5 yrs ago it was Cincinnati. Areas of Wi. Can get ovr 100 & muggy in sand county.  Hhg rig 7 days a week for a month straight. I found out it takes about a week to get acclimated  or less. Below zero is much more brutal . Bunk heater stopped working in the night . U wake up in -28 the air burns like 30% acid vinegar. Working in it your hands burn & get painful.  We got the sauna up to 240 honestly I think I could race in it .

What’s the weather over there in september? I’m reading all kinds of things from sunny and warm to snow… Do you know those guys? I can only see enduro bikes on their website?

Weather at Thunder Valley in September should be great, high 70s to low 80s, would be typical.  Maybe a thunderstorm in the afternoon, but it is essentially the high desert so it would likely be dry.  Thunder Valley is a pretty cool track to ride because they leave it in the same configuration as the national.  So if you watch the pro race in June this year, most likely that would be the same track you would get to ride, all the same jumps, all of the same sections, etc.  At least that is how it has been when we have ridden there in years past...

Hope you have a fun trip!

Does Texas have any big shops? Something like Chapparal in California. Or is it possible to order something on BTO for example and let it deliver at a pick up point? Is that service available in the us?

What are you looking for specifically? TJ's in Austin is a pretty big shop.

If you're going to be in the San Antonio area you can have stuff delivered to the shop I work at in Spring Branch and pick it up or I could meet you somewhere in SA.

There are still a couple good retail shops in Texas for bike parts, but its hard to beat Amazon these days.  The shop I work at in DFW, we have actually had parts delivered same day.
