looks like they are after Chad Reed now. When will people just quit with the stupid "endangered animals" and "noise" problems????

I understand that! But I find it to be crazy to think that if i owned that land my neighbors can tell me (or complain enuff till the county tells me) what I can and cannot do on my property. How many people I can have on my track, What times I can and cannot ride.....its insane.

If they have an organic nursery next door I am certain that the zoning is farmland. I wonder if everyone that drives a tractor can only do so from 8 to 4.

Hasn't Reed's track been there for years? It's completely private and I doubt he ever has more than a handful of guys out there.

At least Chad has the big cash and probably the right connections to tackle any legal fight here.

"a hellacious racket"

Gotta love that statement. It's all that the general public needs to know.

If Reed complied with the rules set forth, there would be no issues. The town, county, state or village set up those rules, not the neighbors. Most likey those individuals were voted into office. If you want change, become active. Run for office or support those that support your interest. its the american way.

I have a private track and also have neighbors right next door. There is no noise ordinance in my town but the dust could be an issue. When I have the AC on, I can barely hear the bikes. However, my grandmother lives down the road about 1/4 mile and my mom was there the other day when we were riding and said that she couldnt believe how clearly she could here the bikes. There were both 2 stroke 250s, and 450's riding at the time.

Chad should get the county to check the permits for fertilizer and any hazerdous things for the nursey and then make sure they have everything a business needs to stay open (like bathrooms & handicapped parking)

"She said the area is home to a dozen threatened or endangered species, including gopher tortoises."

There are few things sweeter in life than the sound of "gopher tortoises" becoming soup stock under the angry spin of knobby tires.

These environmental wackos are just following the playbook.

It seems that Reed will be able to fend them off.

They should be happy that he is only using 24 of his 63 acres. I can understand them not wanting people out there riding til dusk, but they need to cut him a little slack as well with all the conditions.

God damn tractors. Everyone hates farmers.

This problem wasn't as bad when there were motocross racers.

Bunch of BS in my opinion.. A friend of mine had a track the county shut down after the neighbors complained.. they couldn't sell the house so they leveled the track and planted dandelions... you can imagine what the neighbors yard looked like the next year!

A lot of assumptions being made here about the area and "guilty parties".
Here's a google map of the properties (fyi Ferry's house is 3.5 miles west or Reed's and practically shares a property line with Dade City MX, plus a few other rides/tracks in the area, so the county is obviously willing to work with motocross)
Its flat terrain and sound will travel a long way.
Its always going to be them vs us. But in either case, its good to see the county willing to work with both parties. Just follow the rules.

Damn..!! Reed has a sick set up.

This is Bings map. I don't know how to embed google map but if you look on Google map at the same area you can see Chads made the facility even bigger and built a custom home on the property as well. Chad is for sure living the dream.

Dan, that one track was Flyin High MX park, which the article refers to.

They apparently did not follow the rules.

Dirt bike riding, and all OHV use, is under brutal attack here in America.

Be it noise issues with MX facilities, Obamas "America's Great Outdoor Initiative", or the 10's of millions of acres of wilderness proposed by various environmental groups-which are at various stages of congressional approval-America is no longer an OHV friendly country.

And if we all sit around and do nothing, we'll lose our rights to ride.
