Why does this shit always have to turn into an Us vs. Them deal? Swanepoel hauled ass last time he was here in the 450 class as a sub for Ferry at Unadilla, and he hauled ass today at the Wick...two totally different type of tracks and two totally different type of bikes.

Great job, Gareth!

It is hard for a insulated American to understand you see, but the educated ones all know that the GPs series riders are just as good as the American riders ( and probably more well rounded outdoors).. that is why GP riders do so well in the US and why the top US teams want to hire them.

Fast is fast in either series ... so lets stop all this talk that the AMA series is faster and more prestigious.. it's not it is similar, it just a different type of series to the World Championship.

Seems like GP riders adapt to tracks they have never been on alot better than National riders.

You have to know that this year in MX1 GPs, Gareth never broke the top 6... And that he's currently 14th in the World Championship standings...
Riding our deepest class on a track he may not know (cant recall) and on a different brand and size of bike? Id say a top 10 is pretty damn impressive. Then again, if you sent anyone near the top 10 in the GP's over for a sand race they would do well. GP riders kill it in the sand.

It's sand...just ask De Reuver. Smile
I remember Marc saying that he was actually surprised how sandy the track was when he was over here.Granted, it is not as deep as Lommel or even Lierop, but is sand.

I think Gareth did pretty good on that 250F,regardless if it was sand.
Cant wait to see how he does next week with more time on the bike....podium maybe?

After the year he's had, to come out with virtually no time on the Yamaha and the 250, to get sixth one of his best results of the year is quite respectable and something to build off of in the remaining rounds. I hope Gareth gets a ride in the US next year, I think a new challenge is exactly what he needs.

Any word on whether he's in talks with any of the US teams for next year??

motivation???

He had troubles with his team (no training bike, no money ...). How can you stay motivated when you get no support from your team.
It's a surprise he even did get these results in the Gp's.

Swanie can get top 10 results everywhere ...
New start for Swanie ... hope he does well

Cool deal. Swanepoel is a solid pro, I am not surprised by his results at all.

Swanie already out for the West Coast (broken thumb).

Now, we have to wait for the name of the replacement rider...

Doubt it. This is why teams wait to announce what coast thier riders will race. If he was indeed slated to race the West, then they will move one of thier East riders to West to give Swane a chance for the East.

THE mx addict, instead of floating up old threads, can you just start a new one? The three-month-old info at the beginning of the thread really doesn't do anyone any good.
