Freedom of speech is not under attack in Australia. I could happily stand in the center of my home city and call our PM a C**t, in fact people do it every day.
The proposed media laws were to stop total BS that impacts people health and safety, for example you couldn’t spread BS like one example we had where a “celebrity chef” was telling cancer patients not to have chemo as it will kill them, or telling osteoporosis sufferers to avoid dairy, when in fact that is the last thing they should do. Or telling millions of people that sun cream causes skin cancer, so it’s better to get sunburned.
But the proposed law wouldn’t put people in jail, it forces media organizations not to project these views to millions.
For the record, I don’t agree with the law, and I am free to voice my opinion about it wherever I want.
But let’s not let the truth get in the way of what the Russian Times says 😆
