I haven’t been keeping up this week: where’s Max? And the practice driver is in L’s Ferrari, too?

They let back up drivers get seat time that way.

One helluva Q3.

Piastri laid down a serious lap.

And, not quite going out on a limb by saying, Kimi Antonelli is definitely a driver to keep an eye on in the years to come.

Pretty impressive so far.

I think Russel will get pushed aside and Antonelli will be the lead driver at Mercedes by next season or even later this season as he is doing phenomenal for a rookie.

It looks like Sergio Perez will be back on the grid next year with the Cadillac team.

I’d like to see someone from Indycar.   Ferrucci, Newgarden, or Herta.   At least give them proper tests.

Perez brings a lot of money. He brought around $30 million dollars for Red Bull.

Agreed.

But a new team is in need of drivers who can help with feedback in developing the car.

I don't see perez and bottas being those type of drivers.

I agree with speak.

We need a young American driver in the field.

But that will probably never happen, due to the F1 feeder system, and the money you need to bring.

Not to mention that nascar is still the 800lb gorilla in the room.

Sucking away young talent.

I read an article yesterday that mentioned Herta could be one of the drivers. Ricciardo was also mentioned. I think Ricciardo's ship has sailed, but he's popular.

Max could break his contract with Red Bull by the summer break this year if they can't give him a competitive car.

Three teams are looking to sign him. Aston Martin, Mercedes, and Alpine.

He allegedly has an offer on the table from Aston Martin. It would be the biggest contract in F1 history. $1 billion dollars over 5 years.

He has been on pole this season and won a race this season so his "loop hole" of not having a competitive car goes out the window.

Just watched P2.

Helluva wicked track.

More like a video game than a race course.

It's not a loop hole. Despite being on pole and winning a race, Red Bull is struggling.

Some Dutch media people are already talking/reporting that he'll be leaving the team.

Aston Martin are spending the money. New headquarters, signed Adrian Newey, Honda engines next year. Big money offer. That could be enticing for Max. They haven't done much this year, but that could be because they're mailing it in and focusing on next year and beyond.

We'll see.

But Redbull does have a competitive car. Redbull may be struggling under Redbull standards but no where near enough to say he's not in a competitive car

At the end of the day, Max will ultimately do what he wants. If they're struggling and the upgrades don't help push him to the front on a consistent basis, he won't be happy.

If he's not happy, I can see him leaving.

Where is he going to go?  only car better is McLaren and next season it could be any number of teams that nailed the new rules so I doubt he would go anywhere this season or next.

Just because Max is currently 3rd in the standings, does not mean that Redbull have the 2nd best car.  Mercedes has had a better car early in the season. Besides the double DQ, I would argue that Ferrari has been slightly better than Redbull, also.
