Appin this weekend - I'm trying to get there.

But, things seem to be conspiring against that, at the moment. It's only about 40 minutes away from me, so I really hope to get to it.

It should (at least part of it) be on SBS TV on the same day.

Seems theres a top two already and hopefully Evans gets out of his head and gets the Kawi working. But fuck me Wonthagay is a joke. Just a track in a some blokes flat paddock with table tops. We strugglin here in Aus

I raced there many years ago, it's always been a flat track... but, better than nothing.   With all the big 4 stroke noise, tracks will continue to close down.    Hardy a track for National Championships though, gotta agree there!

Are you referring to Mitch Evans ?

He's at Trentino this weekend.

But, I'm that 'not up' on OZ MX, currently, I guess there's another Evans?

As for Wonthagi. Well, we could take it, and many of our other MX Tracks, as indicative of our country - we are, a Big, Largely Bloody Flat country.

Though, it's said our "Highlands and Ski Fields " areas, are bigger than a whole bunch of other countries(combined)  in Their Entirety, though, they are bloody 'low' compared to just about any Mountainous regions.

One thing I didn't catch with Wonthagi, is if it is right near / under power lines. World Wide, not just in OZ, so many tracks are under power lines  / in Power Line corridors. It's a miracle we MXers don't have 2 heads........ 🤪

Appin has that bit of a hillside to go up, and across  / down - at least it had that yonks ago, when I raced there.

Joel Evans. Top privateer the last few years, swapped from Yamaha to Kawi

Scuze my ignorance but you guys have Ski fields? As in skiing, snowboarding?

Moving on you damn Aussies...and Kiwis for that matter have a knack of putting out some serious talent. Reed, Byrne, Lawrence bros, Coppins, Ferris, Melrose, Readon and probably many more that I can't remember, also a fast lady Charly Cannon right?

The Kiwis, Townley Snr, Townley jnr, King bros, Sherwood and Miss Duncan right...she is a Kiwi? Probably a whole bunch that I can't remember.

Edit - I'm tempted to Google your guys top riders to see how many I have missed. To be fair, I'll wait a day.

Yes, Boomslangerang, we have Ski Resorts.

Mountains aren't high, but, we have some slopes / resorts. By area, quite a lot, actually, but located in  pretty much one area  of the country - though, I think Tasmania has some Ski Fields - it would want to, it's bloody cold down there in the Winter. Nice place though, I could see myself selling up and going down there in my dotage.

But, it's pretty expensive - enough that quite a few of my friends, will go to Un Zud for Skiing instead. Their $ is worth less than ours, and, they've bigger Mountains than us. And, they aren't that Horrid to deal with, are the Kiwis ......

I know it’s not Aus Mx but Jake Cannon is showing serious talent in EMX

Believe it or not, some parts of Australia’s Snowy Mountains get more snowfall than the Swiss Alps.

And yeah our little corner of the globe does swing above its weight in moto, though we’ve certainly had a few dry spells as well.

One dastardly Kiwi, as Bear calls em, most forget is Daryl Hurley, an unlikely SX winner, but he got one in the mud.

He’s had a few flashes but has a ways to go. Hope he continues to progress.
But man his sister Charli cleaned up all comers in the Oceania cup. No one else was even close.

Wow, I forgot about Hurley. That dude has some serious talent and should have won more than he did.

I'm still scratching my head about snow in Australia. Always thought you guys were mostly a flat desert type country. One is never to old to learn. Thanks boys.

No powerlines there

But it’s right next door to the poo farm

(Edit) and wind turbines

Wonthaggi is actually a good track to race. Not everything needs to look like Glen Helen to be good for racing. The King brothers raced across Europe for years and Darryl put Coolum up there as one of the best he’d raced on and Wonthaggi is so similar.

The hard pack track at Appin should bring Beaton and Webster back closer to the pack. Crawford was pretty good there on 250’s too. No doubt it will suit Clout more closely, I could see him getting a win this weekend.
