Honda is getting serious about the MX GPs again and have made Ben Townley a firm offer to race for them next year.

Paolo Martin said in Brazil today: "I can confirm that Honda have made a direct offer to Ben to race the MX1 GPs in 2011. He has 15 days to decide whether or not to accept the offer."
The Italian team owner also admitted that Jimmy Albertson has been released from his contract at the end of the season.

The American was unsure of his future plans: "I'm not sure. Maybe I go home but I'm looking to see if I can get a ride on one of the other GP teams."

He's got a good thing with TLD but at the same point a BADASS Works Honda sitting there for him. Hmm? He deserves whatever he gets that's for sure. Most guys would have folded like a lawnchair under the adversity he's gone through.

Honestly, doesn't surprise me. I'm not an insider by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a sneaking suspicion that we're beginning to see the makings of a new world order. I think the GP's might be where it'sat in just a few short years. Ya, I know we here in America think that NO ONE could ever overtake us, but I think we might see a true WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES overtake that US Nationals within just a few short years! You might start thinkin along the lines of FORMULA 1, not NASCAR.

I love the sensationalism of MX pure Bullshit

Being fired is different then being not rehired at the end of the season.

Townley would be a fool to race for that team , bikes are not up to his standard.

Gotta produce and Albertson didn't. No sob stories only team points, Martin Honda would be a nice pick for Ben, good cutting edge team, it would be a step up from his trickle down tech he's on now plus he'd be back in the scene for a few prime spots opening in 2012, gonna be a major shift in 2012...But Ben will be walking into a talent situation that could overwhelm him during a long, brutal GP season..he's AMA soft for a full GP season.

damn straight especially if they keep grooming these tracks like it sx...over time our riders won't know how to handle the rough stuff. The riders on the other side of the pond will be tougher and faster-

When I saw how smooth moto two was for the 450s at Washougal I almost crapped myself- frickin shame IMO

Good if Ben comes back. He will be a title contender of course, which Albertsson wasn't.

I hope we can have some faster american racing the gp's 2011 instead of Albertsson. I would love to see a MX1-rider with Osbournes capacity go at it. Hopefully it will happen.

Maybe JS7 wants to take his realityshow worldwide...lol

They haven't groomed the tracks, that's last years argument. Look at the Unadilla post race, every rider said it was knarly. Milville was a rough effin track this year at least it looked that way on TV. Plus it was a pathetic freeway last year. Even Reed was like let it get rough and make there be a point to training.

Do argree with you're point though. They shouldn't touch the track all day except for the start. Reward the badass trainers. Its outdoors not a 15min sprint indoor race. It can't be touched for exposure and SX has it's place but I don't remember ever holding SX so highly. Rider's were more well rounded but that could just be me getting old and crotchity

I'm really sorry for Jimmy, he's a genuine good guy. When Paul Malin has people in the commentary box with him it can sometimes by a dry affair but Albertson was simply awesome, very funny guy. But though a good rider it's very different over here and just like some of the euro's on the AMA scene (Tyla & Tommy), he's had trouble adapting.

For Honda Townley's a good move and I have feeling Ben wouldn't have any trouble at all being an immediate threat, where's maybe other riders might. He's ridden the GPs, he grew up on GPs and now he has an added level of intensity gained from the AMA scene. If the bike is good and the money is reasonable, then it sounds like a good move.

Being fired is different then being not rehired at the end of the season.

Townley would be a fool to race for that team , bikes are not up to his standard.

Surprised and a bit harsh on Jimmy I think, BT and Albertson would be a good team. BT to lead the team and would also help Jimmy adapt as Ben has seen it and done it on both sides all coming from New Zealand and could share his secrets of success. MX1 is a harsh world these days so many good guys now and top riders who have won GPs moving from MX2 each year with the age rule.

Hopefully Jimmy can find another GP team...the hardest year was going to be this year I believe.

I love how you ignore facts to go with your own deluded agenda.

Martin Honda is the factory backed team in the GPs, the bikes are good.

Also Jimmy was on a two year deal, so released was the operative word... like I said I think they should have kept him and signed BT.

Goods prob understating the bike lol. Just the sound restritions "holding it back". Was that Desalle's old team? He said were ever he rides next year it's yellow. Amazing how good the Factory or works Zooks are. Such a departure from ten years ago. Gotta thank RC for developing that bike. Even he said the 2005 RMZ held him back.

BT ? Probably to Teka Suzuki

Those bikes use the same engines as American Honda.

Martin Honda is factory.

Desalle rode for LS Honda, and supported team, nowhere near factory.

x2 I think Albertson has simply been unlucky with injuries. I hope he stays over here, he seems like a good guy.

Maybe its just coincidence, but seems US riders have problems with this team. Isnt Martin Honda the same team Mike Brown had issues with getting payed and had to roll out and excused from his contract?

When did Martin Honda last have success? Brian Jørgensen on the podium for a moto?
Personally I´d much rather ride for CAS Honda - they seem more professional - MArtin Honda has to me always seemed like one of those old school Italian teams

Yeah he had to be stoked to get that ride since all he had was Valli and just when they were starting out. He would probably like the bikes Valli are putting on the tracks now but god damn are they ugly bikes. He's good friends with a certain redhead about to strangle away the 250 title from Pourcel. Imagine those two goon riding together! Turbo Trey got nuthin on Jimmy Mac.

I don't know why, but from my view from afar Martin Honda does not SEEM like the featured Honda team in the GP paddock. Their bikes are ugly and they never seem to have top flight talent (no offense to Jimmy A.). I understand now that they are the factory effort, they just don't seem like it from outward appearances.
