Tough Like RORR, NO SPECTATORS. Its a sad time....

It seems to me that the insurance companies have come to a mutual agreement on one thing, dismantle this sport. Tough Like RORR, for those that do not know, is a hard enduro in central PA. It was announced yesterday that due to insurance regulations there will be absolutely ZERO spectating allowed on the course this year. The reason being is that insurance claims from spectators of off road events in this country are through the roof and this is their response. Having an event of this caliber, with no support for riders on the course is going to go over like a lead balloon. It will be interesting to see how many people skip this event and what this means for other events nationwide. Off road guys know that having people in the woods is usually a blessing in a lot of situations especially at events like GNCC. Hell, KTM usually has a hundred guys in the woods at every event supporting their riders alone, not to mention the mud fleas getting drunk in the mud holes. Does this end up effecting the giant that is GNCC or does GNCC have the funding to keep doing what theyre doing? I guess time will tell, but its a sad day for off road racing.

Local off-road series also is experiencing this. No crossing the track and no crossing certain color tape.

To even half ass spectate the race you literally HAVE to cross the track and you also HAVE to go through some of the “no go” color tape.

It’s going to absolutely ruin it for something that’s hard to spectate in the first place. I have no idea what the answer is.

How is the club going to make money without spectators? A lot of people go every year at like $10 a head.

Yes, exactly. TLR will follow NJ hare scramble protocol. I cant help but feel this event will die in 2025.

We are feeling it in TX as well.  It’s still easy to walk to spots but they have cut down on atv/SXS access for spectators.  New world order I guess..

I bet they just know they wouldn't have the turnout of spectators to maybe offset whatever additional cost it would be to have a policy that allows them especially at $10 a head.

GNCC gets thousands of spectators at $35 a head so its worth them paying whatever policy allows spectators. The two series I race stopped pit riding and its honestly been a blessing its so much more calm and easier to get in and out of the venues, don't get covered in dust walking to sign up. 90% of the pit riding was spectators and kids just blasting around for fun.

I agree on pit riding, they all need to crack down. Anyone caught riding that isnt going to or from the starting line should be asked to leave IMMEDIATELY, no excuses.

A competitive event with no spectators. Brilliant.

What a ridiculous ruling that will undoubtedly have a negative effect on the sport.

Agree, can’t blame an insurance company for Americans lack of self control (drunk mud fleas) or unsupervised kids on pit bikes.
Too many lawyers just waiting to pounce is not helpful either.

Part of the allure of GNCC and other all weekend off-road races is that you can camp and have entertainment all weekend for $35 a head which is a great deal. But it is not a daycare and free for all for everyone.

Here in TCCRA, people were getting karted off left and right last season because of  oblivious spectators trying to cross on an active race track. It got to the point where other series in the area have banned all motorized pit vehicles completely. Some won't even allow e-MTB bikes anymore. I have no problem with banning pit vehicles on track. But banning spectators from the course is seriously wack.

Completely agree with that one. Too many idiots running around on side by sides and anything mobile that aren’t racing causing too many accidents.

I wonder if we could figure out like a mobile bridge thing that goes over the track? Have like 3-4 of those where people can cross?

TLR is a major event in these parts. If RORR isn't allowed to have paying fans, this event will cease to exist. No money, no race. Clubs have to make something. Next thing will be that only electric bikes will be allowed due to noise!

Some buddies I texted about this today thought it was an April fools day joke. Bummer it's not.

Time to think outside the box...............You can still pit ride and spectate, you just have to sign up as a racer.

And when the insurer finds out that happened, there will not be a policy next year, and no event will be held

It's a hard enduro, what happens when 99% of the racers either break their bike or give up?   They become spectators.
It's expected and accepted.

Or you can complain about No Spectators on the internet. The choice is yours.

How would an increase in race entries hurt the sport?

My question would be what about the racer's families. Aren't they considered to be spectators, or are they crew?

What about the club members? The locals? Most locals will just walk up in the woods without care. What's going to happen? Site everyone for trespassing? Not going to happen in these coal regions. This is a cluster.

They are obviously going to have "spectators" in the pits.  I would assume this means nobody is allowed out on the actual course to spectate.  It was pretty much the same way at Grindingstone, they had tons of stuff ribboned off to keep spectators away from the action.

Great news! Spectators are legal again (in designated areas).

I don't know. I'm just the messenger.
My guess would be they negotiated with the insurance company or found some extra funding to cover spectators.
It's on their website.

And now it's over completely, not just no spectators. This isn't going to be last unfortunately.
