when You folks do these hard rows make sure you do some sort of cool down row. it somehow helps kill the lactate buildup which all motocrossers know leads to arm pump. Someone maybe can elaborate on this more than I.

hey guys back from a great weekend at Unadilla. Even met up with RC104. Now I know why he is so fast on the rower. The dude is tall! I got to talk with a bunch of the racers that use the rower but not BT101. Pingree was not around and i did not want to bother him. Rattray, Canard were awesome and still amazed how fit the riders are these days. i will post up some pictures soon. I am back to my 4 tabata's a week and my CF workouts. I also have a race sat and sun so workinh in a rest day.

Thanks for the encouragement. The funny thing is I've been fighting off a sore throat the last few days and haven't had much energy. Yesterday I started a 5k and had about a 19:48 - 19:50 pace going but just gave up and quit with 1400 meters to go because I felt so bad. Tonight when I got down to 1500 to go I just said screw it and closed my eyes and went for it. You're right about the mental barrier part.Smile

Not to worry. That is all I had and I'm sure Greg can do 5K in 15 or 16 minutes in his sleep. He just turned 40....

Oh man I wish I had a 15 or 16 min 5k. If I did the whole Pete’s plan for 14 weeks and nothing else I might break 18 min but I am not sure I would want to give up the strength stuff. After a couple of surgeries I like to keep some muscle mass around the joints for safety. I still hit the ground from time to time. Also I am about 5’10” and that is in Moto boots so I am giving up some height.

I think i am on week 13 of the pete plan now. it is definately helping but once you get your avg's down to what your capable of they are very brutal workouts. today was taking it easy on a 6x500 3 minute rest in between at 1:50 /500. then actually set a personal best on a 1000m at 1:44.4.

Greg, It was great to get to meet you at 'Dilla this past weekend. Hope you guy's had a goodtime. Maybe I'll see you around again at Southwick, since I'll likely be heading out there too.

I got to say, I think all the rowing I have been doing, combined with how I've changed my diet and started adding in more strength workouts has helped me HUGE for moto.

I just started riding again this week, after only riding about 4 times since memorial day weekend, and I'm amazed where my endurance is at so far. I was on my 350sxf both Monday and yesterday and was putting in some long rides in the sand. Albeit, I wasn't riding 100% pace, since I was breaking in the engine and suspension, but usually that makes me more tired in the sand. I was feeling good.

RCC104 I know that this is all about training but tell me first impressions of that 350! You are the first non magazine guy that I know that have try it. I won’t be at Southwick because I have a race here in Vermont. Did you ever get to meet up with Shorty? I am on DMXS radio tonight and will be mentioning the forum here in Vital.

Well like I said, I haven't really ridden the thing balls out just too much just yet. Tonight I'm going to be going over the bike and changing oil, etc, etc. Tomorrow though, I'm going to hit another practice track, pinning it with other riders around me and starting to take down notes for a real review... I'll probably post something up on here, along with a GoPro ride along.

First Impressions:

- Very Comfortable! At 6'1" the thing fits me great pegs to seat and all. Roomier than my YZFs I'd say. I did get rid of the stock bars first thing though (way to low for me), and move the bar mounts up to the 3rd farthest forward position in the clamps to open it up even more.

- Handling wise, the thing turns like it's on rails. Flat turns, sandy berms, ruts... none were problems at all. Point and go. It feels pretty light to me. Close to how my 250f felt. Definitely not the tank of a bike my 450 was. The suspension was just starting to feel broken in by the end of my second day on it so I can't speak on that too much yet. Nothing scary happened while riding at least.

- To get an idea of what the powers like, I've been on my '06 YZ450F, '08 YZ250F, and my father's '02 YZ250 (2 stroke). So far, I'm of the opinion that the 350 sxf is closest to the power of the 2-stroke, only with 4-stroke torque . It's very a fun engine! It pulls and pulls. It reminded me a lot of the 2001 CR250 engine that I loved.

- Electric start is amazing! I still have a bad habit of reaching down for the non-existing kick-start.

- The only negative I've felt so far is that the gearing it's a little off. It struggled a little going from 2nd to 3rd. I'll be adding a tooth to the back for sure, but I think that will fix it.

Oh and to answer your other question Greg, I was in the Honda rig and met with Windham and Kehoe, but I didn't see see Andrew around.
8/18/2010 9:20am
was that after Windham went down? I saw his bike and it was trashed! Good to see the old boy is tough as nails!. Windham has a rower but i don't know if he uses it.

not bad - actually pretty dang good.
tonight I had the pete plan 4 x 2k
1-1:53.7
2-1:53.8
3-1:53.7
4-1:51.5
avg 153.2
mentally tough just knowing you have to do a pretty fast pace 2k three times and then drop the pace on the fourth....
hit 2 million total meters tonight on the c2 in under a year

Dang, I don't believe the Finals week for this is already next week!

Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous what my times will be be haha. I've been riding so much this week I haven't had time to workout at all (guess thats not totally bad). Maybe a rest week will do me some good Blink

Don't ask me why but after a full body 30min routine on the TRX suspension trainer I thought I'd go for my 500m PR. I've never done one before because my rower slid across the patio and would hit a wall. I moved the thing out to the middle of the patio and gave it my all. I believe I can pull a sub 1:30. I still think I can. I pulled a 1:31.6 in the blasting heat and after a 30min workout. I have to try this with fresh legs, arms, and lungs.

Two years ago Travis Pastrana pulled a 1:27.0 without even a warmup you are close. Good work man. - Greg

Anyone have the time to post the top 3 for each challenge and for each age group? It would be nice to have a goal for the last week.

I think I'm in the top 3 in at least one category, maybe two?

RCC and Chase are ridiculous! I vote that Greg and Tim are disqualified from the official rankings.

Age 37

Best times (photo evidence in earlier posts):

500m - 1:31.6
2000m - 7min23secs
5000m - 19min38sec
30min - 7508 meters
