Pickleball rant

 I’ve never actually played it, but had some friends do it and they love it. I have noticed a lot of courts transforming into Pickleball.

You know, hating someone with your peepee is a felony. 

But yeah, fuck Pickleball.

I figured it was just a fad but it appears to be lingering unfortunately. When they’re transforming courts, you know it’s more than a fad.  

I don't know much about it except it's kind of like baby tennis or giant ping pong ?  I know the people here in SC that are within earshot of the courts aren't fans.  😆   It reminds me of the guys that go to the beach and can't sit still. They have to be throwing a football, or a frisbee or playing smash ball or any one of the other ridiculous games they have now, little nets that they spike a ball onto or ladder looking things with 2 balls on a rope, heaven forbid they go in the water. Those guy inevitably always set up right in front us while were trying to watch our kids in the water. Kooks. The lot.    Now get off my lawn ! 😁

I don't know who that asshole is, but I'm certainly not getting a good vibe.

Gotta say that guy has been stirring the hate in my heart for a couple of days too. 

As for pickleball, I have no opinion other then it appears to be played most enthusiastically by yuppy scum. 

We played it in my high school gym class. It was fine.

IMO adults playing sports is a good thing. Sets a good example, regardless of the sport.

If you're gonna be mad at a sport taking up too much otherwise usable space, may I introduce golf to you?

Funny thread! Ultimately, anything that gets you outside is a good thing, but I will say that every time we drive by the pickleball place next to the freeway, I like to say, "let's see how many picklefuckers are out today...".

I like it but I've never played but it looks fun.  I do play tennis with my wife.  It is great exercise and we enjoy it.  Not everyone can do it though.  On the polar opposite, I also enjoy playing badminton with my Mom who is 78.  We'll set up a net and leave it up all summer.  We play a handful of times a year and it is great and it is great for her.  A volleyball is a little much for her so why not.  She can play badminton. The people I see in my area playing pickleball are people who are totally incapable of playing tennis but are getting exercise they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.  That's a great thing.  What sucks is 2 rackets cost $80 or more.  4 friends would have near $200 in it to play.  A basketball costs $30 or less. But the people I see playing are incapable of playing basketball.  

I live in the country.  I really don't have to deal with yuppies but I get that part.  Yuppies, trends and fads suck.  I hate that it is popular for that reason.  It also sucks to think that kids are the only ones that can get exercise and enjoy themselves.  I was content on thinking it was filling a void to allow people to be active but have limited ability to participate in other court sports.  It does annoy me though, our local park took out the horseshoe pegs to place a new pickleball court.  Even though I only go to the park once a year.  The old guys at the reunion had no place to pitch shoes and they like that shit.  That's bullshit.  Why can't they have both.  

I thought pickleball was just played by older people that aren't good at sports.  They are having kids play this??

Ah, I completely agree, that's lame.  Around San Diego it seems like older people take over outdoor courts/parking lots to play but I be that's happening here as well.  

It would be a lot better if actual pickles were used...

The mega sports complexes near me are being overtaken by pickleball. I remember playing it several decades ago in gym class. It was lame then and lame now, but I am in the wrong since it's popular. 😂

We’ve got entire restaurant/bar concepts that revolve around pickleball down here. I took my management team for an evening to a local ‘Chicken and Pickle’ and everyone had a great time. 

I think flick probably described it best. Some of us used to love to play tennis, but as you get older it starts to get hard to find casual competition. Older tennis players seem to be really good tennis players, so for someone who just takes it casually it limits the number of players you have fun playing with. 

We played pickleball in PE back in high school, but that was back in the early 80s before it became popular obviously. I still have a paddle from back then but hadn’t used it in forever. 

I do now 🤣🤣

Yes! lol I usually use Jameson. It’s sounds a bit disgusting but it’s actually pretty darn good! 😄

My wife plays , I have played but my knees no like….just imagine what the tennis crowd feels like…their sport just got destroyed….
