In order to make that tax cut he’s going to cut a shit ton of programs like healthcare, dental, pharmaceuticals, child care etc.

Also, it’s not a 15% tax cut. It’s 15% of the taxes you pay. So your 44 won’t drop to 29. It’ll drop to 37.4, a 15% reduction. Still a cut, but not nearly as big as they’re advertising.

The one thing I’m really liking about Carney is that every question I’ve seen him answer, he gives a detailed, well thought out answer. Not saying that makes him honest, but he sure seems to know what he’s talking about to be able to do that off the cuff.

Yes, I understand the tax cut % logic... but as you've said its still significant.

Healthcare won't be cut.  Maybe dental, childcare, and a combination of some foreign aid.  I'm ok with that honestly, depending on how things are done.  I sure as heck didn't have government help when it came to childcare.  We've debated back and forth a few times on this subject , but I'll say again we pay too much here.

You're right, he does give some decent responses, as he should.   My qualms with him are the anti oil, net zero, wef agenda type stuff.  We'll never , ever have new pipelines under a liberal government.  Alberta is fed up paying for the entire country via the transfers.  My other issue with a liberal government is criminal justice.  Canada is far too soft on crime, by design, and carney liberal's will keep that going.  Horrible pedo's get a few years at best, then are back on the streets.   Conservatives won't give us an American system by any means, but I'd think we could at least make some improvements.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a Conservative government, like I said i voted for Ford here two out of 3 times.

What I absolutely do not want is Pierre Poilievre. Absolutely can't stand that man.

Good news is Carney seems to have softened his stance on pipelines, I believe I saw him say in one of his availabilities that he's open to new pipelines and to opening up new oil corridors in the northwest especially. What I'd like to see is a high speed rail alongside HWY 1 from Northern Ontario all the way to BC and right underneath it, a shiny new pipeline to our east coast refineries.

We usually are, until you put skates on our feet or a gun in our hands. Once you see either of those, it’s in your best interest to give a wide berth.

I would say, Canucks are less assertive, more stand blackish regards to our neighbours. Maybe it’s the British commonwealth trait. Many Canucks still stand with the Queen ( king).😎. The eastern Canadians, especially Quebec are socialists at heart. They are the takers of Canada productive taxes converted to social programs. Canada has a productivity problem. Low production. To many government programs, government labour, union labour, Native labour ( literally non existent). There are many constraints anchoring down Canada economy. Canada needs to clean out its Carburetor and install new leaner main jet to get the motor ( economy), running correctLy. Otherwise we just blowing smoke. 😝

There's about a third not employed and on some sort of government assistance, another third employed in some capacity by one level of government or another, and a third of the country actually working and trying to pay for all of it. The third doing the work and paying the taxes can't vote their way out of it. Starting to wonder why the fuck I bother.

-ish. Way closer to that than it should be. Rough and dirty, only 60% or so of the working-age population actually is, so like 15 million people actually work. A tick over four million are direct government employees. And large portions of the population in the private sector are dependent on public dollars for their jobs, for infrastructure projects and the like. And many workers on the lower end of the pay scale receive government benefits.

Productivity is cratering in the meantime, crushed under the weight of taxes and regulations. We be screwed.

The new commie canuck is heading to the White House tomorrow.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Friday he would visit the White House on Tuesday after Carney’s Liberal Party emerged victorious in the nation's federal election last week to discuss a 25% tariff imposed on goods from the nation sent to the U.S. and Trump's repeated urging that the U.S. northern neighbor become the "51st state."

Played? I’m not so sure. Anybody with half a brain knows that when you go to someone else’s “house”you smile , act  respectful and keep your mouth shut.

Ask Zelinski how his last trip to the White House went?

I mean, Carney just sort of sat there while Trump rambled for 34 of the 37 minute sit down about different, unrelated shit.

He made 2 important things clear.

1. Canada is not for sale

2. The tariffs are going to weigh heavily on the next USMCA negotiations. I was surprised Carney went as far as saying that Trump took advantage of the agreement with the tariffs.

I had to skip through most of it waiting for Trump to actually talk about Canada-related topics. Dude just rambles on forever.

Carney is a horrible look for Canada. Holy crap. How shallow was the talent pool? Looks like it could use some chlorine, too.

I didn’t vote for the  guy but I can appreciate the  way he  approached this meeting. Quiet and reserved and let Trump do his thing. Don’t forget, Trump got exactly the guy he wanted in a neighbouring leader. Do a little digging, and you’ll see these two already know each other . They also have some mutual friends.  Brookfield investments that Carney virtually ran have done Kushner and Trump a few solids over the years.
Again, he’s definitely not my guy, but I’d like to know what your idea of a “good”look is?

Not interested in a shit slinging contest . But I am interested in your honest opinion why you thought that  he was not a good representative of Canada in your White House? He went in respectful and quiet. If you watch the beginning of the meeting when  he gets out of the limo, and is greeted by a smiling receptive Trump. These two have history and Trump‘s good with it.

I’m not here to bash anybody. But it will be better for all us all if people can get along. For the love of God look at what’s happening in  Pakistan and India right now ,neighbouring countries. It would be a lot better with friendly, smiling faces instead of  shooting missiles.

Zelenski went in mouthy and brash and look at what it got  him.  Carney goes in quiet  and respectful, and you’re still not happy.

Poilievre was the better choice,  but I'd get answers like "he doesn't seem nice".  "Carney seems smart".  Without knowing anything about him,  knowing his WEF, his eco warrior mandate.

Voted on niceness.

Plus the fact he is both heavily invested in and deeply indebted to China... and has foreign business dealings in direct competition with Canadian companies, you could go on for days about that greaseball and only scratch the surface. "A ghoul in a suit with the ethics of an alley cat."

Well, I saw some posts by crazy left winger Canucks, that he was going to the White House to show President Trump "what's up". Seems that was not the case.

It would have been stupid to go there and start a fight. I'm still not sure how much I like Carney, improvement over Trudeau for sure, but I didn't mind his approach. Pacify Trump, stand firm on the stuff that matters, say on topic and stay out of the weeds.

One thing I definitely like is his plan for his minority government. Rather than making a pact to form a coalition that gives the NDP(further left) way more power than they deserve(Which is how Trudeau did it), he's going to have to work with all of the parties. If he wants something passed, he's got to get at least one of them on board. The way to election shook out, The Bloc and Conservative party can wrok together to block anything they don't like. Everybody has a voice now.

The way it works in Canada with a minority government, they can call for a vote of non-confidence at any time and if it passes, trigger an election.
