i hope they do really good, and the fact that they are racing home will boost their performance and not  block any of them......still my doubt about Mewse and Gilbert comes from the fact that for a long time the only top racer from great britain that made it big growing there was Searle, Anstie and Wilson moved still very young to america

the british championship is one of the european nationals with less big names from mxgp racing it, just last year Harri Kullas was still winning races over those 2, and if you look at the top youth racers, they are not at top level  in the Emx series and Mx2, last top one was Mewse....

i dont know why "things" are a bit different in Great Britain, then in most other european countries, but results show it ....

i can see Anstie having a great Mxdn, but i feel he his missing one experienced and fast team mate, so that they could only expect one good race from Mewse.....

Pains me to say it but your spot on , we won’t do anything at Mxdn , without Searle carrying us we’ve got no hope , Ansties fast on his day , Conrad and Gilbert are 15-20 th place ,

He’s racing Lommel GP this weekend, top 3 in times practice and in the qualifying race outside of top 20 start and got into the top 10 passing Febvre in the process

Reading through this I see a lot of MXDN team members comments. Curious, in the UK, do riders typically accept the honor as a member or do they make excuses to not participate?

UK riders will normally ride when they’re asked.

again one would expect a bit better results from Conrad, something like fighting for a top ten, but his performances got worst race by race......

7/28/2024 10:28am

Shame for him won’t build any confidence, herlings himself said he has the speed for top 5

Jeffrey needs to do mental coaching when he retires… sure he doesn’t need to but it’s few and  far between these days

What makes you think he’ll do better at an AMA National? He can’t complete at World Class level, he does well at the British & Scottish Nationals because there is no competition so it makes him look faster than he is.

Just  going of the fact when he and Kullas done the British they were similar speed and Kullas has cracked the top ten , he does seem to have a problem on the big stage though so maybe he wouldn’t who knows until he try’s , I do think top british might be his limit which is nothing to be ashamed of still make a living riding a bike

He’s beaten Herlings straight up, head to head in the UK. No idea why he loses his superpowers when he goes to a GP.

Racing at your backyard is completely different compared to racing at GP or US national level.

Ben Watson beat Herlings at the Lyng British champs round a couple of years ago, and everyone said he was going to push for wins at the GP's... The British series is seen as a practice/warm up series by Herlings; he can win without breaking sweat while the locals are on the edge trying to get his scalp.

Any British rider wanting to win at world level needs to get out of the UK, start at the bottom of the GP's, and work his way up. Staying in the UK is a waste of time unless you're a journeyman looking for a regular mediocre wage.

To be honest I don’t think Herlings was trying to hard ( understandably) but at the same time he definitely isn’t the same bloke on the world stage

I went to the Canada Heights round & Herlings put on a riding clinic that day. 4 seconds quicker than Mewse in qualifying (who was 2nd) and he put 30 seconds into him each moto. MX1 in the UK is in a bad place at the moment with a lack of entries & talent. Most of the riders were decent club riders at best.

Is the US not an option? Would be cool to see him race a few outdoor rounds to see how he stacks up.

You are about to get your wish. He is coming over to do 2 rounds at the end of June , beginning of July

This is so cool! Really hope he can bring his UK speed with him. If he does that's an easy top 5.

He said he's also doing some GPs, Matterley, Lommel & Arnhem.

3/26/2025 12:49pm

No way a top 5, his away form is awful.

You don’t think riders can develop as they mature?

I reckon it’s all about pressure. With no pressure, he could surprise you.

Dont forget top 5 level in american motocross 450 outdoor championship is high...

Too high for Mewse.

I know everyone wasn't in the series last year but AP got 3rd overall for the year. Nothing against AP but Mewse is definitely faster, so top 5 should be possible for him.

No chance Mewse is faster than AP, that’s a ridiculous take.

Watched him race at the beginning of March at the opening round of the Scottish Championships on one of the best sand circuits in Britain Tain in the far north. I can safely say he is faster than ever after the way he rode in the 2nd race. This track gets rough and i mean rough! He was superb winning by nearly 2 minutes against half of the top 10 riders in Britain. Can not see anyone in Britain beating him this decade never mind this season. He loves the sand circuits so will be watching out to see how good he goes at Hawkstone on Sunday at the British.

He has beat him in a few races. You must be forgetting how fast Mewse actually can be. If Herlings says he has top 5 MXGP speed, then I guarantee that is also top 5 AMA speed...
