Had a guy, on a jobsite, who a year or so ago, knifed my back.

He thought he was in a position to determin whether I stayed, building my custom cabinetry, or outsourced it to a commercial company.

I got that situation resolved immediately with the homebuilder himself.

(The one who signs my checks)

Today he comes, dragging his sniveling ass,  into my shop, wanting me to bail him out because someone wouldn't finish their shit work.

(He didn't know that I'd seen the fucked up, unfinished, mess this guy left behind)

I had the awesome fucking pleasure of telling him to...

Well, you know.

Chance, I’ve mentioned my daughter’s problems she’s had with pex in the past.

Two days ago she had another pinhole, this time it was in a cold line. I’m thinking the plumber left all of his per out in the sun.

I think this is her sixth leak.

I think she’s goind to have to replace it all.

I’d still go copper any day.

What brand was the pex? Uponor, Wirsbo, Apollo?

While I’m not going to defend pex, I’ve been running into issues with Pro-Press copper. Scratched pipes have been the root of the problem in most cases. Then the Pro-Press gun was out of calibration not competing the fitting fully.

Just like copper, material integrity comes down to how good it was taken care of while stored and, during the installation process. I’ve also started running into sticks of copper pipe that fit loose in the fitting prior to soldering. The tolerances are off so bad I can wiggle the pipe in the fitting.  Just another thing to worry about.

I’m sorry your daughters having issues. Plumbing sucks and, as a homeowner, plumbing issues are often overwhelming.

As a “quick fix”, just cut the pex dead center of the pin hole with a good pair of pex cutters. Recouple it with whatever size Shark Bite coupling needed. That should buy her plenty of time. Just be sure to completely bottom the fitting out by marking the stab depth with a sharpie on the pipe that way you know it’s in all the way.

I’ve only fixed one. The rest were when I wasn’t available, and she had a pro plumber do it.

I think part of the problem with her house is that the area (NW Arkansas) has had a huge boom in housing, and the quality isn’t there, as well as I think the building inspectors don’t do a great job keeping up.

It’s not a cheap house in a cheap subdivision by any means.

Her ex and her had a house before that didn’t even have insulation in the master bedroom ceiling. It was about three years old when they bought it. The way the roof was cut up, that part of the attic had to be accessed from a second attached garage.

The building inspectors, and the company that did the Prebuy all missed it.

They bought it before I got to look at it. I didn’t bother looking afterwards. They figured it out the first winter there.

I don’t go by anything an inspector signs off on in regards to a potential house I’m looking to purchase.

Attics and, crawl spaces are often places they won’t even go into while signing off on those inspections. It’s often just a walk around the perimeter, make sure there’s no leaks under cabinets, around toilets and, all the light switches work. They’re useless.

As for your daughters leak, I just figured it was a good way to save her $400 doing it yourselves.

Houses built now are built around the saying, quicker cheaper faster more.

When I did residential plumbing, we were expected to get a new construction 2 1/2 bath house up and ready for inspection within two days.

We live in a world where 9 out of 10 people will try screw you over...it's pretty much like that here in SA.

I once bought a used pickup from a dude. He spoke a load of shit which made me smell a rat. I was extra carefull and checked the whole pickup properly. When I was satisfied I negotiated with him and bought it.

A week later I was driving down a hill and the rear diff locks up. I had to get it towed. We found that the diff was fucked and stuffed full of 🍌 bananas.

We live and learn.

Health and safety inspectors that have no idea about your job and have never picked up a tool in their life telling you how to do your job.

Kindly go and shove your clipboard and assorted stationary up your arse.

What does filling a diff full of bananas do? Keep it from grinding and rattling? Genuinely curious, have never heard of that before.

I'm very generous when it comes to getting rid of stuff. I sell far below market or just give away stuff for free to avoid any hassle, haggling, etc. I figure "I'm not using it, but surely there's someone out there who might really need this."

Not too long ago, I posted a rolling toolbox on Facebook Marketplace for free. First person to respond and show up gets it. The first 2 people asked me if I could bring it to them.... Fuck you. It ended up going to a 19 year old starting a new job at a shop on Monday. He literally crammed it into the trunk of his car and was extremely stoked, so I felt good about that.

Anyway, this happens VERY often. Almost every item I've put up for free (NOT junk, mind you) is met with a few people thinking I should deliver it to them, also free of charge.

Fuck you.

People just want shit to be catered to them. Years ago, I sold a 92 CR 500. $1500. Firm……. Ridiculously low even 10 years ago. A few call asking if I’d take a grand. No. Price is firm. Then one guy shows up. $1500 in hand but, is driving a Honda Accord. Says he’ll pay asking but, wants it delivered 45 miles from my house.

Fuck you.

Like a bad case of Herpes, the wanna be "trophy truck" fad is all over this area.   Plastic side panels with the ass-dragging suspension.

How embarrassing.

Squatted trucks are illegal around here.

And state troopers are starting to cite these ridiculous lifted trucks for the maximum headlight height violation.

Seen a lot of stupid, poser, car fads come and go over the years.

But these trucks are the most retarded.

Zero off road capabilities.

(Although these "overlanding" rigs, with thousands of dollars in gear hanging from racks and molle panels, are rapidly climbing up the list.)

California has all sorts of  laws on the books and none of them are enforced.     It's simply amazing what people get away with in regards to car/truck "modification".    ...or even just plain dangerous maintenance.ie: bald tires.

Just like the vehicles...they don't give a shit about who they put behind the wheel either.    Any idiot who can fog a mirror gets a license.

Yes,...its a old trick in Africa. Bananas and the peels are good at silencing worn diffs.

Best of luck to y'all.

I saw this graph recently and was quite shocked

With the new land grab laws, will that drive out the experienced farmers and result in a famine like Zimbabwe had when they did the same?

Yes, it's slowly happening. Australia has been giving lucrative offers to our experienced farmers. Farmers are nervous with what the future holds.

We are also losing Doctors to 1st world countries.

Naturally, the corrupt government will deny accusations...

At the end of the day we are in the shit here.

Speaking of fuck toilets, We bought a Kohler that has a little “flexible plastic vinyl” looking piece between the tank and bowl to help direct the water into the bowl I guess ? It seems pretty hokey and like it’ll be trouble at some point. It’s been ok so far but my bigger gripe is the bottom of the bowl is more of a square shape than round, so when you inevitably have to plunge it, the round plunger won’t seal to the square bottom of the bowl, it’s fucking stupid. The crappy seal results in the “water“ in the bowl shooting up towards your face when you have to plunge it. besides being 3x harder to get it clear. After the first couple times I actually looked for a squarish shaped plunger. Negative ghost rider round is all I found

More fiber dude. Makes your turds fluffy and was easier to flush.

Fuck the city of Seattle!! Fuckers won’t release my plumbing  permit. Ground works, rough in completed. Up on test ready for inspection but, can’t call the work in… FML.

Anyone heard of water cremation? It’s for pets but, the equipment used leaves nothing but, ash once the 24 hr cycle is ran. First time installing this stuff. Cool job and, only one of two places that does it on the west coast.

I always thought you had a unique username and cool avatar TAUTOG. Never knew what a tautog was until last night when i was trying to fall asleep reading and old issue of Greys Sporting Journal and the character in the story, one of the fish he caught was tautog.

It was a good story. The guy grew up the worst fisherman in his town till one day a fish, who was still alive in a pile of fish that were brought in off the harbor talked to him and made a deal with him that if he saved his life, the fish would each day tell him where to fish and what to use to be successful so long as the young man never gave up the secret that the talking fish was helping him. This agreement lasted for 30 years as the boy became a man and a fishing legend in his town till one day he forgot about his agreement of secrecy and accepted an offer from another talking fish. That betrayal led him to never catch another fish as long as he lived.

Anybody else ever subscribe to Greys Sporting Journal. i have a small unread stack of them I need to tackle.

I don't know what the funniest thing to you would be that I could post here, but let your imagination run wild and pretend your favorite member posted that here instead.

(P.S. - I was going to go with "ML512, that's a borderline religious post you made there, but I'll let it slide and not report you because Daytona Pit Bits was bad ass." But I had 2nd thoughts that might be too risky a play for getting you to laugh 🙂)
