They knew there was a track there but built a house anyway! Now they wan't the track shut down. I copied the link, It's a good read! Read it and comment! What asshole's!http://www.pjstar.com/php/index.php?/news/comments/peoria_is_noise_ordi…

Sorry about your problems Kaw Rider. Its assholes like this that keep costing us riding areas.

But then again, if these 4 strokes didnt fart loud enough to knock the glass out of the windows and shake the pictures off the wall, some of these areas may have never closed down.

Until the OEM's or aftermarket companies (god forbid the AMA do something) do something to quiet these bikes to an acceptable level, these areas will keep closing faster than my now ex-wife's legs.

Eric's property has been in his family for generation's. We are very respectfull of his neighbor's. We don't ride early or late! He has two young daughter's that he is teaching to ride! Very nice family! The track is badass! It's about a 1.2 mile track that's natural terrian, Couple of big double's, Lot's of small double's, Few table top's, One whoop section and a few monster hill's. The nearest part of the track is about 400 yard's from the neighbor that's complaining's house! Yet it's ok for their grand kid's to ride snow mobile's and four wheeler's AND tresspass on my buddies land!(We don't tresspass on anyone's land)! Here is a pic of the nearest jump. I'm in front and Eric(the land owner is behind me).[img:34k9f01j]http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x176/RobbieO_2007/050000001198014.jp…]

I think i have talked to the owners of this place???? If so there is a law on the books that if someone moves in after a track or riding area is established, they can't shut you down for sound. NOW that is for exsisting riding parks and tracks that were in operation prior to 2002. Even though your not for public use (charge a fee) I would bet this rule could be used to help keep your riding going.

isn't this neighbor a retired cop? the other thing is if your running turds, get the quietest exhaust or a db dawg just to ride there? It would be a small price to keep the piece if you can. This isn't peoria county is it??? they have a law i think already which sucks.

Yea, He's a retired cop and yes, It's in Peoria county. The track has been there for year's! Many Many year's! I do belive he has talked to you. The asshole neighbor let's his grand kid's ride and the little bastard's trespass, But that's ok! We can't ride on the land that he rightfully own's or it's a five hundred dollar fine for each person, And he will call the cop's. Eric has pic's of the neighbor's kid's riding around AND trespassing but that goes nowhere. Eric won't call the cop's cause he's not like that. Messed up world aint it!

please note.

these people "think" that because they can hear you it's a nuisance. it isn't. make sure that before the county makes a law and it's aimed at you. That you hire a sound testing dude then go out and ride. If you are '400'' yards from these peoples house even a thumper will likely NOT even move that sound meter. Hell the wind will be louder at 400 yards then a thumper.

But you have to know what your doing, and you have to go at this professonally and with out any of the banter.......

There was only one agument, And it was between Eric and the neighbor, And yes, Eric was a little heated. We are being professonal. No bitching, Lewd look's, No flipping the bird, No burning their house. :D The old lady said she doesen't like the sound and that's the end of the story. He was there first so the story should end there, But it doesen't. I guess a sound tester is our next step, However I don't think the neighbor is willing to cooperate on anything other than shuting us down. Sad, Really sad.

Then eric needs to challenge this rule/law and get his ducks in a row before, then go ride, get a fine, and then show that the law is wrong. Long process but it's the only to beat it....... either that or run for county board and get the law changed. SOunds "out there" but honestly, I joined a group of people 9 years ago...... It was called the LaSalle County Land Owners Association. We fought county wide zoning, the zoning held off long enough for us to start our riding park. Now there is zoning, but we are considered a "permitted special use '' becasue we were there before zoning.

my point, is you have to get political, you have to find the right LOCAL people in the county government to help. abate can help locally. AMA likely will only show you different avenues how to do things, but won't come out and roll up thier sleeves.

call me to get into this further, Eric and I have talked, but he has to (as the property owner) take this farther or you guys won't be riding there, or will and it will be exspensive.

I just got off the phone with Eric, and he said to pack my gear. We should have about40-50 people there this weekend. Can't wait to see how this turns out. The matter is going to the council to be decided on the fate of the track. The sheriff, And several board members think the issue will go away. As there is no real way for them to inforce the matter. BUT, They said it would be in our best intrest to quiet down some of the louder bikes (Four strokes). Hopefully it's all good.

what about planting some trees along the fenceline? I agree putting someone at the property line one afternoon with a DB meter would be a good idea, especially to show that at 400 yards you could probably run a national moto and not have to raise your voice to have a conversation.

The AMA is protecting your right to ride. At least that is what thier bullshit ads say. They won't help you? Big surprise.

If you get through this thing I would have a MotoDrive Ride Day (hell.... make it a week) and drive that fucken cop out of the neighborhood and make his resale value drop to shit.

I had a friend with a personal track 16 acres from the closest neighbor (bought 80 acres) get shut down because the historic society believed it was "possible" that a civil war battle "may have" taken place on his land. Come the fuck on ....that war is over don't you think?

Ok, I am done shitting a cinder block on this subject.

Best of luck guys. We are pulling for you.

PM me when you win. I'll bring the posse. And if you lose. I will still bring the posse.

People who try to measure distance with things that are actually a measure of area sure don't make a lot of sense.....

Thank's for all the replies!! I was misstaken, We are not riding there this weekend! We will wait till we get the green light. Hopefully it won't be to long. It's a great place to ride and it's only twenty minute's from my house. :D I'll either ride another local track OR go to Eric's with all my gun's and Lot's "O" ammo, And shoot the piss out them!!! People shouldn't mess with hillbilly dirt biker's with gun's! BANG, BANG, BANG, I wonder how annoying that will be for hour's on end? I'm pretty sure our gun's are way louder than our bike's!........ Wildbill, Yes I have a shitload of guitar's. I'm kinda slow at tuning so someone alway's take's them from me and does it themself. Was kinda embarassing at first but I'm used to it now! Pling-Plong, Pling-Plang, Pling...... STOP, GIVE ME THE DAMN GUITAR!!!!! <img class= " title="Laughing"> Yea I'm a cheater. Work's though. Don't know if I'll ever tune a guitar quickly with the friend's I have. <img class= " title="Laughing">

That sucks dude, looks like a fun place to ride. If they succeed in closing it down get a Harley with straight pipes, point it at their bedroom windows and wake them every freaken morning at 4am!

And a chainsaw with a nice expansion chamber and stinger...chop up some wood. Oh, and that wood needs to be split, too. Get one of those obnoxious splitters with a big block with open headers and sit out there all day drinking beer and splitting wood. Put megaphones on the headers and point hem towards their house, <img class= " title="Laughing">

There are about twenty acres across the street that we sometimes ride in and once you enter the woods, you can hardly hear us. Looks like a fantastic place to ride! I would suggest that everyone who comes to ride bring a Leland cypress and plant along the property line. They grow fast, tall, and thick creating a nice sound barrier and you could ride naked and they wouldn't know it. Good Luck!
