I have a crazy Dean-o- story. It was like 2000 or so and we were coming home from the San Diego SX and stopped in some fast food place. Some guy in fatigues says something to Dean or more likely vice versa, I was inside already and next thing you know Dean is trying to pick a fight with 3 military guys in the parking lot. Luckily some of Deans buddies were still outside and knew he was ripped and pulled him away. I ran into him a few months ago, my sis lives in the same neighborhood.

Thats a tuff injury, but at the same time Tylor Hemme did the exact same thing (trust me i had to hold his right femur bone in when it happened at edwards air base) and hes already riding his pop's dual sport, if you have the heart and desire that aint gonna keep you away...

Back in the mid to late 90's there was a group of fast guys that were always at Perris MX, Upton was the "king of Perris" . My neighbor owned Perris for a little while and I was always there helping him out and guys like Bryan Mcgavran, Casey Gould, Little "O", Upton, etc.....were always there smoking most of the big name pros. Those were the days.

I saw Scott Carter at Foxwoods the other night. We we're talking about the day he got 6th at Southwick in 96. He's working at Rocky Hill motocross now.

What happened to...

Korey Keeney
Paul Currie
Gio Tedesco
Mike McDade
Scott Sheak (actually saw him at Dilla last year)

I emailed Weigant and said this stuff would be a good topic for one of his podcasts.. Be awesome to hear from guys that had their child hood totally skewed for a moto carrer but didn't make it. Be interesting to hear from parents that invested heaps and had their kids go cold on it too. Funny the effect puberty, girls and the big wide world have on sporting aspirations eh!

I was Upton's wrench from 97-2000.. If he was racing i was there.. Except for the 96 Elsinore G.P. he almost won the race but got a flat.

Alright guys i know there's been dozen's of threads about this but there hasn't been one recently.

Growing up racing amateurs there are so many guys I though were gonna make it big and never went anywhere.

Post anyone's name that you can think of that never went anywhere.

Steve Mertens, Evan Laughridge, Dakota Garner, and Brandon Kealamakia (who I personally saw give Alessi a run for his money more then a few times at Cedar City) where just a couple off the top of my head.

Post anyone and everyone you can think of.
