In general I fear a government where checks and balances are being eliminated and the ultra wealthy are pulling all the strings to grab at power.

Musk bought a social media company and changed the algorithm to help trump get elected and now has access to seemingly all of trump’s power and is using his platform to enrich himself (see Ukrainian minerals)

It’s the most brazen conflict of interest I’ve seen and I’m scared of it.

People that wealthy don’t get there by being moral. There is nothing moral about hoarding that much wealth. I don’t this direction will fix the problems that the Democratic Party failed address.

It’s just so clearly a conflict of interest. Even if you agree with the cutting of programs and spending, I think this needs to go through the checks and balances of how our government is supposed to run.

The republicans have control of all three branches of government. Do this in a way that follows proper protocols and mitigates risks.

Making it this circus show while people are losing their livelihood and Musk resorting to these fear tactics to appeal to hate is just fucked up.

Perhaps, but there is no reason to believe it was for him to enrich himself with Ukrainian minerals, or that it was a major contributor to Trump's win.

The algorithm change could have been a correction to the prior algorithm which favored liberals and Democrats. We know Twitter was doing the bidding of the Biden administration and censoring information as requested by that administration.

"...hoarding that much wealth."

He's not hoarding anything. His wealth is entirely based on stock value. He doesn't have a room in his house full of cash that he's somehow keeping from you.

The liberal mass media took such a beat down from all the "conspiracy theories" since COVID that they whiffed on. Now it just seems like they are trying to get in on it with their own, and Musk seems to be the main target.

Definitely noticing a shift in attitudes on my Facebook feed.  I don't post politics on there, and myself try to stay pretty neutral, but have a bunch of Trump loving family members who constantly post memes and shit on FB.  Several of them have changed their opinions on what's going on.   One of my cousins actually had his job cut with the National Park Service.  This guy makes like $40K a year, and he's cut by some guy worth billions who wasn't even elected.  Needless to say he's changed his opinion on the current admin, as has his whole family.

I think you are going to see a major shift now in the MAGA crowd once they start being affected by this crazy approach to just tearing everything down.  The extreme MAGA people, and I have a few in my family, will always love what Trump/Musk is doing but that's easily explained, they are brainwashed by reading all their stupid social media posts for years and years.  There's no hope with those types of people, they can no longer think for themselves.

I think the big driver will be what happens with the economy and in Ukraine, the entire administration will especially look like shit if Russia takes over the country.

How long did your cousin work for the National Park Service? What work experience does your cousin have? If your cousin has a college degree, what...

Trump and MUSK know that their base is uneducated and not the brightest bunch.  One tactic they use is to make very complex problems sound very simple to fix.  Just like when Trump said he'd end the Ukraine war in one day.  His base eats this up and actually believes it, even though he's now changed it to 100 day.   Who cares, just throw a headline out there to satisfy the mouth breathers.

Musk is also using this tactic... he's going in to these government departments, spending a day or two, and then just decides to cut thousands of jobs.  He doesn't know the ramifications of that, and knows nothing about said departments, but he figures cutting thousands of jobs will make great headlines for Trumps base who are blood-thirsty for this type of stuff.  He will worry about cleaning up the mess later, but for now the goal is to flood the zone with all kinds of headline worthy cuts to departments and programs, without a care in the world as to what problems it will cause.  Musk doesn't give a shit, he's a mega billionaire and none of this affects guys like him.

Trump and Musk strategy is to exploit the low IQ of their base, plain and simple.

I hope they are successful.  I just don't think they are headed down the right path.  And ultimately Trumps success is probably mostly dependent on how he handles the Ukraine war.  If he blows that, he's done.   Biden never recovered after the Afghanistan pull out, and Trumps handling of Ukraine has the potential to be much much worse if he doesn't handle it properly.  If he allows Russia to win, then emboldens China to invade Taiwan, all on his watch..... colossal failure.

What are the odds he even knew or could remember now?

You, of alllllll people, talking about someone-else’s intellect or mental capability and/or capacity…wow…well…that…

Is Fucking HILARIOUS.

I’ve noticed that virtually all of you that “swing from the left” find yourselves needing to tell others how stupid they are…and, thusly, flexing as if YOU are smart…

Then there’s this ChurchOfTrumpsBalls person that feels like it/they/them are the smart one(s) in the room…

You’re just being a fanatic now. In no way, shape, or form, can Ukraine be compared to Afghanistan. Sleepy Joe’s colossal failure wasn’t the equipment he left behind, but MY BROTHERS IN ARMS.

Keep talking out of the side of your neck. Next you’ll be trying to justify Benghazi.

Ukraine held up pretty strong against the Russians, with a rag tag bunch of conscripts. Using the United States military’s weapons and advisors. Yeah, imagine what our professional fighting force would do to the Russians.
