The wife and I just got back from RVing down the east coast from NE Pennsylvania to WDW Florida. The poverty we saw in a lot of the little towns we drove through was shattering. It is everywhere, boarded up main street shops, abandoned vehicles, "will work for food" vagrants, derelict houses, empty factories, garbage everywhere. We are sheltered I guess, I had no idea, I thought it was just our town. Some of these places look like third world countries. So no it is not just KTM or Arctic Cat, there is a lot of misery going on now in this country in many places it seems.

Trump to the rescue, announcing tariffs on snowmobiles. Problem solved. Next.

I had the money saved in 79 to buy the 2000 t Lynx. Of course my mom wouldn’t allow it. I really wanted the 79 eL Tigre 6000 but that was out of my budget.   The Lynx is pretty sharp today yet.  The 2000 s was a single cylinder.  I don’t remember the price 1,100 maybe . Surprised to see no snow in Green Bay . There’s 10-12 in 450 miles to the south. IMG 2166.png?VersionId=qHXH61

The Lynx was quite the upgrade from our 1966 Panther 8 hp 4-st Kohler engine made in Kohler Wi.  That thing was soo hard to start when cold , high compression. I modded the throttle cable where it mounted on the carb . Then it screamed a little better . It lasted a couple winters or so b4 it blew up. Funny we never changed the oil in it. 4-5 inch straight pipe exhaust. Does Arctic Cat still make ATV's, and if so are they still Suzuki based product?

Yes and their wheeled offerings aren't really competitive aside from maybe the Wildcat XX.  That's a well-built machine that they kind of let languish.  No forced induction, no 4-seater model, nothing wider than 64".  At least in the desert, the Wildcat XX is one of the most reliable machines if you're looking for a good prerunner.  It's a shame that it kind of coasts along with zero attention.

They revamped their ATVs a few years back.  They've dropped the 570, 700, and 1000.  All three were replaced by a single 600 which has some "interesting" design ideas as far as motor placement and such.  It's not really competitive on price or performance.  The older models weren't leaders in any one category, but they were decent machines for the price.  I have two friends with a 570 and a 700, they chug along just fine.

Reported today that Textron's Q1 results notes show "Powersports business sold, including Arctic Cat brand and operations." No mention of new owner yet.

Hearing it’s a group of private investors…including Brad Darling (pres of Argo). But not being purchased by Argo.
