In the last 2 years the pace has gone up at least slightly, and Dungey is rock solid and winning by RC/JS gaps. I'm sure Stewart can put a few laps together at Dungey speed or maybe faster but I'm not sure he can hang every lap. Dungey doesn't make mistakes. Not convinced there will be a blue #7 at Unidilla or any of the other 3, you can't come off the couch and be as ready as if you've been racing week in and week out.

A1 Dungey led most of the race against James.
Dungey has more confidence now.
It is going to be close. I dont think anyone can call it.
I think Dungey can push harder if he wants.
In the press conference, I think it was Gary Bailey who asked a question that was basically, "You've got this game figured out against this current crop of riders, but Stewart is a different level of rider...do you think you can beat him?"
Dungey's face turned to stone, and he looked right at Bailey and said, "I ain't going to let ANYBODY walk all over me."
You could feel the atmosphere in the media tent change when he said said that. The body language of the people in that room said it all. Dungey meant what he said, and everyone knew it, and I think believed it.
Stewart is smarter now, remember A1? he cruised behind dungey the entire race and reeled in 5seconds and passed him in TWO laps at the end.
It's now approaching 80% of James pace from two years ago.

Second, I actually hope Dungey is smart enough not to change his program or take any chances to beat Stewart, and I think he is. When you watch him race, every moto is similar - he wants a top five start, then he wants to keep the leader in sight, then he wants to put on a charge and get in the lead, then he wants to hold that 4 or 5 seconds until the end. He's very disciplined. I can't imagine a rider who's that disciplined not realizing that when James comes back, taking a risk so he can beat James is about the only way he can lose this championship.
Right now Dungey is the best guy on the track right but he is no where near the level that Stewart races at.
IMO Stewart's can ride at 80% and wax these guys. There is no one fast enough to make him crash.
We will find out in 2 weeks but i will say it now that Stewart wins by 30-40 seconds over Dungey.
When Stewart comes back, he'll win every moto he enters, and Dungey shouldn't take that too hard. Dungey just needs to beat all the human riders - let the guy from Krypton go his way and you'll see him in the middle of the podium while you get your #1 plate.
If Ryan keeps his cool, rides his race, and then pours it on with the last 8 minutes +3....Stewart will not be able to match.
Despite his great talent, people need to keep in mind his age. His money that has no doubt softened him up, reality shows and marriage that divide his attention.....
Dungey will win.
He is there to destroy these guy and thats what he is going to do.
Put together a plan for next year to beat James. Of course, good chance James won't race or will be injured next season.
30-40 seconds ahead of Dungey is delusional, by the way. Bless your heart I hope you get better.
