Where are you seeing $9,400? MSRP is $8k but shop around or get an identical outgoing 2024 and you can easily come in under that. I think you’re confusing it with the KTM which does have a $9,400 MSRP.

Typo, meant to be $8400 I think I clicked on the white and purple one that popped up but even at $8000 I think an extra $1500 is worth it IMO.

Yamaha has it dialed and it's been working for them for years.

Keep it cheap and simple.

You don't need the added weight, complexity on a motor you can start with your hand.    Get real.

You don't need FI...  learn how to jet a carb for cyring out loud.

The 2025 base model 300 XC-W is $11,599. I'm not sure why it's $2000 more, but it is.

300 XCW has always been more, spring forks, lights, different wheels, O ring chain, PDS shock they cant spread cost across so many models.

Plus the market for the 300XCW is 50+ year old rich guys.

With the discounts you can find on the YZ you’d likely be paying $2k+ for the SX over a YZ.

If I was looking for a 2t MX bike I'd get one of these.

I rode one and it was super fun, handled better than a YZ250 and had better power delivery.

This is generalizing but torquey power lower in the rpm’s, flatter on top. This is usually because the 300’s are just a bored out 250 with a square bore and stroke.

This square bore should have no reason to exist in a 300 only release. Fingers crossed.

A longer stroke would make for a nice squared up big-bore kit. Am I wrong?

It isn't bad looking, but, they need to do something with the rad shrouds, ditch the blue wheels, simplify the graphics and stop putting stickers everywhere on the bike.

I know it's been a minute for both of us, but pretty sure that was 1980. 😄

Huh, maybe it was a 1980 model. I always thought it was a '79 for some reason for the first year of production. Still to me, that bike was friggin awesome looking. Short rear fender, round light and number plate.

A bike based on a platform like that (or the last generation IT200) can still wreak havoc in tight southeastern woods. 👍

Yeah, '80 was the first year for the KDX175 and the Uni-Trak suspension. It showed how much Kawie thought of the bike to debut their new monoshock on a woods bike along with the MXers.

Wish they still built something like that.

I don't mind being wrong on occasion, but thinking for the past 45 years it was a 1979 model is pretty bad.

For sure, was just backing up Magoofan's claim that 11K two strokes do exist.

It'll be interesting to see, if it is indeed a 300 with e-start and fi, where Kawasaki prices it. With a YZ at 7999, and an SX at 9349 you'd have to think it would be closer to the katoom. A difference of 1350 isn't a lot of $ for that technology really

Then takeoff the $2500 rebate a few months after it’s introduced!

I always wanted one of those last gen IT200's.. throw a rear disk on that machine and it's more than capable against modern high tech bikes.

It will also be the new kid on the blok that everyone wants to be friends with. We'll see a LOT of them, assuming 300cc, e-start.

Absolutely.

I'd love a sub-200 lb small bore woods bike with good torquey power; and with no radiators up high on the chassis they feel like they weigh 150 lbs.

No cooling system to fail and minimal electronics... but all the tools to handle the job. It used to be the standard.

I bet if theYZ got an e-start the price goes up $1G

I know a lot of folks that would race a YZ250 if it had a factory E-start.  E-starts for MX are really a big deal but in woods racing they are a huge benefit.  If you have have ever stalled on a nasty hill climb you can relate.

Given this I would tend to agree it will prob have e-start .

You're missing the point.

This sport is filled with over-priced, over-tech-laden bikes that many people can no longer afford or even work on themselves.

We don't need MORE.
