WTF? $150 pants and after about 8 rides it's knee-brace to gas tank? What's the deal here? Is leather really the only material we know of to put in the knees? Or are the gear Mfgs making them that way (disposable) on purpose to get us to buy more gear?

Sincerely,

we took ours to a local cowboy shop and had them sew a new piece over the top, didn't help, same thing and cowboys use good leather LOL. had them try some type of other material to, don't remember what it was, but didn't even last a weekend. I know how you feel. it sucks

Knee braces will do that to pants.

If you wear knee braces something like the cell frame guards are must to protect your pants and graphics. Years ago I bought some that Thor use to make. Covers the brace hinges and stops the pant leather from wearing out.

Ya I'm getting sick of that myself. You put 100 dollar graphics on your rads and they are toast after 1 ride.

I always put some tape over my knee braces....it didn't completely stop it from rubbing through but it slowed it down quite a bit.

Use tougher leather and double it up on the inside too.

Yes, when I got my CTI's, the first thing I did (after replacing my graphics from the first ride), was cut a piece of thick leather to fit the hinge and zip tied it...It doesnt stop all the damage, but at least you arent taking big hunks of plastic out of your gas tank.

Pants with kevlar seem to hold up a lot longer than the leather.

Never had any problem with the SDG covers. You might take it to an upholstery shop and have them put an extra layer or 2. They might have something a little stronger too.

I have Asterisk braces and they came out with a cover that goes over the brace frames. They work great. My graphics and leathers have been holding up much better. Contact Asterisk for them.

Fail!

It's not nice to pick on someone who isn't here to defend themselves.

Stevee401, I saw those and I think they will be my next braces. Very nice looking, and less than the price of one CTI, you get a pair of the Asterisk.

Get some neoprene and wrap it around the hinges. Cut an "H" shapped pattern, and use the legs of the H to wrap around and tie behind the hinge.
If you can't find a stock of neoprene fabric, just cut up a cheopo $3 knee or elbow support band.

I have PodMX's and have not worn through any pants after two years. It took about 4 rides with the Asterisk's to wear holes on the inside of the knees.

DO NOT USE OXYGENATED LAUNDRY DETERGENT!

It is not the braces, almost guaranteed.

What Ketchum is trying to say is don't wash your pants in Ultimate 4 race fuel, very bad.

What up BK!!

Yup. I just discovered these this year, and they've solved my problems.
