Is Jett Happy?

Saw this mentioned in some other threads, and wanted to break it out away from the other topics, but does Jett look happy? I picked up on the same things others mentioned, he just looks off. Before he was happy, smiling, light hearted, now he looks so serious and like he doesnt want to be there. Even going out on opening ceremonies he didnt look too pumped. Maybe we are all reading too much into it, idk, but just seems like a different Jett then the one who busted onto scene few years ago; maybe the fans turning on him and cheering for the "Vet" guys is taking its toll.

He will probably win out the season but agreed, he just looked different last night.

Too early to make that kind of statement.

One bad day at the office doesn’t define his year or overall attitude.

Re-visit this in 3-4 weeks.

Happens everyday in RL. If he expects the crowd to cheer louder for him than Tomac, lol.

Unless you're being sarcastic, I just don't see that.   Jett is certainly not lacking fans...it's not even close.  Of course there are the haters...every rider has them.

...and yet, the minority of haters appears to have gotten into his head.    Clipped from Preview show.....

I've been absent from any news or talk for many months until last night.... Why is it obvious hes not happy? Him and tomac were a good half second faster than anyone else during practice

He crashed twice in the main. Of course he's not gonna finish well. I'm sure there was a mental aspect after him crashing twice where he just wasn't "in the zone" like he normally is

Is that what you're basing it off? or is there more to it that I missed?

I do know it's unusual for him to get such horrible starts, and I did read some where last night that Honda was trying different ecu's... Man if that's really the case I don't understand why the manufacturers do what they do. You clearly had a phenomenal bike last year. Damn near perfect. WHY do they all insist on "ok last year's bike was perfect! Best bike ever! Let's scrap it and start all over from the ground up. All new Honda 2025!"

Don't get it.

Everybody will get better as the season goes on. Racing is where you get the test before the lesson.

Geeeezus!

Isn’t he on the same bike…? WTF?

Hey, Jett! Just put your head down and get it done at San Diego.

Oh…and…”Don’t worry. Be happy!”

How is modern day supercross much different than WWE? It is entertainment and Jett and Deegan are feeding the algorithm what it wants-don't get me wrong, incredible talents with great work ethic, but so is a WWE wrestler.

Funny how when they switched over to the 25’ in motocross last year they mentioned how great of a platform it was and how great the bike felt.

Now the bike is a problem ?

Is that the case or did the rest of the field just step up their game ?

Maybe because he gets shit for everything he does?.

He ate a Donut on the podium and then people started calling him donutboi and not in a positive way.

He said he had a goal of surpassing 72 wins and got a lot of shit because he ”disrespected” McGrath by saying that he had a goal.

Then it’s the Anderson thing where he got booed a bunch after that.

Just look in here you can see that it’s plenty of people just waiting/wanting to see him fail. Both on Vital and other social media it’s often comments about that they should go back to Australia, that people want any rider but him to win etc.

Ofc that will take a toll on a young man and wash out all the light hearted behavior. I don’t think he enjoys it the same way anymore since it looks like no matter what he does he can’t do anything right.

Solid observation. In all of my years of watching American supercross, there is often a certain disdain for foreigners and it is f-ing weird. From the BOOing of JMB or Reed, to now this. For me, it was expected. American moto fans are kinda predictable. That being said, as an American and moto fan, I can not wait to see Jett surpass the King's record and become the new King.

His best lap in the main event was a second and a half slower than Chase’s so if I’m a betting man, I’m guessing he didn’t have the feel he was looking for.  Not saying he won’t figure it out before next weekend, though.

It’s how I picture MC would have looked at A1 if he stayed with Honda in 97

Why is everyone assuming the bike is the problem?  He destroyed everyone in SMX after being out for all that time.  Has he said the bike is a problem anytime in the last month?  He definitely failed last night and it was unreal he wasn't able to move through the pack further, but A1 is always strange.  I for one hope Chase, Eli, Cooper, and others keep him close and battle and I am not a Jett fan, but all this bike shit is silly.  Please don't bring up Hunter, he is a 5-10 guy unless the stars align with crashes etc.

Now he is "expected" to WIN.   That carries a lot of pressure.  With pressure comes seriousness.

Motocross and Supercross are two different things and require different setups. It doesn't work for everyone. People have different riding styles.

Ferrandis said he struggled on the previous gen Yamaha in SX but loved it outdoors. That year he went on to win the outdoor championship. When the new gen was released he said it was much better in SX but he struggled with it outdoors. He was off to the best start of his 450 SX career until he got knocked out and then we saw him struggle with it outdoors all season, but it got better towards the end of the nationals.

Did Shimoda get boo'd last night?  How about Prado or any other foreigners?  Jett gets boo'd because of his antics and cockiness, not because he's a foreigner.  If Jett is humble and doesn't perform tantrums (at Anderson) he'll get a lot less hate and boos.

Nearly all of it depends on character.  Deegan gets a ton of hate as well, but it stems from his antics and cockiness too.  However, his podium speech last night was very solid/humble and will lessen hate for him if he continues that tone.   Deegan could have easily blamed his fall on someone else or acted like was robbed of winning that race and should have won for sure, but no he didn't go there.  He gave props to the other riders who beat him and said the spotlight should be shined on them.

For those who've been around long enough, when RC used to get beat he would simply say, "I got my ass handed to me, I have some work to do".  Whereas Jett will blame his losses on mistakes or bike setup.  His excuse for losing qualifying last night was "I was trying too hard. I need to slow it down to go faster".  Whereas someone like a humble RC would have said, "Eli was hauling ass out there and now I have some work to do to catch him"

I dislike Deegs attitude but he gets as much crap as Jett and he feeds off it. Can’t blame the critics if you want to live in the public eye.

The disdain for foreigners is so WAY over played....

Of course you have the idiot "fans" who do and say stupid shit...they are the insignificant minority.

I created this a couple years ago when the same baloney about "hated" foreigners was being tossed around.

You 'created this a couple of years ago"

Cool story.

But, its not overplayed. Each of your examples has a counter argument especially if one of those riders tangled with an American, or they went on win streaks.

Anyway, have fun making memes.

Did Jorge win? wait till he starts winning...which I will welcome and celebrate. Shimoda get boo'd? I don't think so, but, Americans tend to not find him a threat. I've gone to SX races since 1990, I know what I have seen and heard. It's all good, you can think there is no grudge against foreigners and we are all good.

he seems to be doing his best to play the heel, but I'm not sure he's suited to do so.

in one of the pre race feature fillers where they asked which rider in history is best in whoops and corners, jumps, race craft etc.  he answered himself for every category.  which is fine whatever have confidence in yourself but he just kind looked like a d bag.

There is going to be a grudge against anyone on top because they are beating all the other fan's riders.  That comes with the territory of being on top.  There will be more of a grudge if the rider is cocky, entitled, and feels like he should be winning every single race vs being humble.  I've been going to the races since the 80's and have seen it all too.  I would not say there's a grudge against foreigners.  There's a grudge against bad attitude, cockiness, bad antics, dirty racing, dirty moves, etc.  See Barcia and Friese as examples, or even the old controversial JLaw.  How about Mike Alessi and some of his antics vs a guy like Kevin Windham?

Jett can easily clean it up and people will forget.  And after Deegan's interview last night I'm wondering if he's going to try to clean it up a bit.

After Jett went down the second time in the main it looked like he was riding at a 25% pace.. not because he's "so smooth".. genuinely just putting in mediocre laps. I haven't looked at the lap times, maybe I'm way off, but visually there was zero aggression from him. Deegan on the other hand was riding like a maniac coming through the pack with a ton of urgency. Maybe Jett just had a bad night in the office, he looked comfortable in qualifying. Remember when Villopoto had that terrible A1 in 2013 when Millsaps and Canard battled? He went on to win the title that year. Maybe Jett rebounds next week and all of this is is pointless chatter. I guess we just have to wait and see! All I know is that this year is going to be awesome! Sexton looks great, Tomac looks motivated, Roczen looked good in the night show, Jett will (probably) figure it out and rebound, Anderson always looks good early in the year. Supercross is in a great spot right now.

Thats the whole thing tho. Haiden and Brian are literally trying as hard as they possibly can to push everybodys buttons, say the most obnoxious things possible, make shit up, talk trash about their opponents, piss people off… and so on. So for jett to be getting the same amount of hate as that is pretty crazy.

All this chatter is likely pointless because if I'm a betting man I would put my money on HRC and Jett to rebound quickly and get back to where they were.  A1 is always a strange one and I could see Jett coming back with a streak.  However, if this continues for 3 or 4 races then there's definitely a big problem and the chatter will escalate.
