Last yr Alessi said Hicks is a legit phenomenal rider saying he raced against the best RC, Stew, Reed , etc.  I had to get off the back rds avoiding the tolls to get parking spot near Cleveland in a lk snow storm.  Anyway bored I,m watching pro ams , muddy creek 33k 2-st race to figure out  where I,d b.  And Hick,s probably borrowed 02 cr125 race comes  up , proof u don’t need a new bike. . Then a futures sx racing stock bike last place start to win.  Listen to Ralph,s interview he manuals rhythm sections , had a 9-5 job , never practiced ax , he rode a bmx bike during the week a little . Then raced ax on weekends .  1st bike that he had to buy . He raced it with stock suspension only way to do the whoops was too blitz them . Taught him

Whoops speed.   He rode alot of bmx & uses alot of bmx techniques on a ax track .  The tight technical tracks fit him perfectly.  Does a lot of fair races too I hear .  Great payouts like Lake county fair N. Side of Chicago.  All the privateers doing the nationals raced it in the late 90,s .  And got beat by our local Wi. Rider Eron Ezerins on stock 98 rm,s.  ThatyKody Kamm from 10+ yrs ago next to Hicks.  Still racing pro Ams too .  Chad Johnson 2-3 time National ax champ is back racing them . And going 1-1 in 450 a at 42 ,3 yrs old ?  Chad,s daughter is Really fast .  I can see Hicks racing into his40,s and earning a Living doing it.  When these ax riders go to regular tracks it’s a easy grandpa track. He probably just got his suspension softened up .  This helps with super quick corner speed & pivots.  Riding bmx Really helps with mx riding.  I used to spend most of the day on a bmx track . Brought a big water jug , a few sandwiches & snack bars . I wore the bmx bike out . I should’ve bought another 1.   I hear they built a new track on the east side . When u get on a mx bike everything is easier & it seems like you hv more time to do setups for sections.

Uh Wageman passed him straight up at the last round, but didn’t survive the following corner,

Great ride by Hicks. I’m glad that people are finally getting to really see him ride. I’ve watched him in GT ax for years and knew he was a stud, so glad he’s moving up the ladder.

As a kid, I raced BMX and after a day of MX riding when the bike and gear were washed up and put away, I'd go rip around the neighborhood jumps and curbs amazed at how much lighter the bike was, and how I was able to flick it around easier. Have my 5 year old doing the same thing now!
