He definitely isn't a shoe-in for the holeshot right now. I hope he gets things figured out.

I think winning the second moto at Hangtown was a bad thing for him. Hear me out here. He was a huge question mark coming in, and pulling that holeshot and pulling away made him think he had it on lockdown after that. We all remember how cocky he became after that, he was way over confident. Getting beat so much has slammed his confidence down so low that he doesn't truly believe that he can win anymore. He may have convinced himself that his bike sucks, that he himself sucks, that Tony is hindering him, or something along those lines (maybe all of the above even). Whatever it is, it is not good. Mike just needs to think back to last year and start believing that he can holeshot on the 350.
Good post. Seriously, alot of valid points in there. It can be a number of those things.

He could always go on Jersey Shore, or maybe him and his dad could run a boot camp or workout facility.

Thanks davis...Couple more things I want to add here. I think winning that moto would have been good for him if he would've taken it in more of a humble way instead of thinking he's untouchable. It's all about having a balance between confidence and reality.

Alessi is the best and worst person for KTM on that bike...

He can make it seem like it's capable of getting starts... But he's also øne of the worst at coming though the pack where they say the 350 will shine...

He's riding the same as he always has... If he gets a holie, I bet he leads for a few laps, maybe even a win... if he doesn't, he's not doing much... Nothing has changed, look at his results...

Don't tell em the 350 is fast as that is one less thing to bitch about and would be at least 20 pages less a week on the message board.

I can't see how Alessi's career can ever have a happy ending? Seems to be getting worse (on and off the track) every year. Just hope nothing too bad happens before he/they call it quits. Hopefully more moto-dads and families can learn from these creeps too. Almost seems like something crazy will top off their story, like Tony will end in jail or something wild! haha.

Alessi's strenght is getting starts and pulling a fast gap. His weakness is coming through the pack after a bad start. It sounds to me like the 350 is exactly the wrong combination for him. KTM needs a rider who's used to getting mediocre starts and coming through the pack - a Larocco/Mike Brown type.

oh, no doubt i got smoked by summey! he was one of the top am's during his time and im glad to say i have lined up with him and im sure i may have been lapped by him at some point....... im wasnt saying that a ups career is a bad thing, drivers make around 75k a year! i was trying to point out that alessi may have to find a career outside of motocross with all the bridges he has burned.....

I can back up what Shenzi saw, as I was there watching too. I only saw Pourcel do the leap all day on a 250f. Alessi seemed to eye it up a few times in practice, and didn't seem to be able to get a run at it. I even saw him shake his head in disgust once after doubling it (In all fairness- that could have been unrelated) . Hey, I'm no pro but I saw a lot of guys jump over Alessi on 450's who you wouldn't think should be able to do that. To the innocent by-stander it sure seemed he didn't have the bike to clear it. But hey, what do I know.

Suzuki was the best chance Mike had to become a Champion. Had the Alessi's embraced Decoster and the Suzuki program, Mike would be a 450 Outdoor champ and still be riding the best factory bike out there. Just look what Dungey has done with the program and the opportunity. Not saying KTM has a bad bike or program, it's just not as conducive to Championships for a guy like Mike.

$75K a year LMAO I am sure my 2 buddies that have been with UPS for over 5 years wish they made close to $75K.

Whats next for Alessi ? A Chinese 450 F . With Tonys expertise and Mikes blinding speed they can take that bike to new levels . I can just see Tony up late at night , burning the midnight oil , porting that thing with a butter knife lol.

Mike needs a 450 zook, he wouild be killing it right now. He looks like shit on the 350.
7/4/2010 8:03am
In Mike's entire career including the am's he has only ever passed a handful of riders. He hasnt evedr been able todeal with adversity very well and now it is really showing.

The bike is fine, it really isnt the bike.

Yes, he's reveling in any sort of bash Alessi thread. It's almost worthy of some pity. (Almost)

I really don't understand all of this. Reed "sucked" (if you consider being in the top 5 in points as sucking) just as bad as Alessi up until Red Bud. Yet, NOBODY questioned whether it was Reed's bike or really even questioned what was wrong with Reed in general.

It seems that all of you think of Alessi as a robot that unless he holeshots every race and wins every race then the ONLY explanation is the bike. I guess he is perfect.

As I said, it just makes no sense.

And in case you doubt what I'm saying Reed and Alessi were only 2 points apart coming into Red Bud.

Maybe Kawasaki is secretly running a 350, that must be it!

Mike said in his interview with RacerX that in the past he has been hurt by trying too hard, and that he needs to be more patient and start letting the races come to him. If he doesn't have it that day then he will live to fight another and be in it for the long haul. Unfortunately for Mike, the races are going to Dungey instead of coming to him.
