So I’ve raced my whole life and I’m 38 now and have a 4 year old and a 3 year old. They have staycic’s and a PW50 which we plan on racing this summer. With all the KTM troubles happening I can get a SXe3 for 3k otd and a e5 for 3500 otd. The problem is I haven’t paid much attention to the 50 races. So my questions are is the e3 worth it to get. I see they would race with the 50sx and the e5. And the pw has its own class. I just don’t want to pass up the good deal on the bike but I also don’t want to get it if it’s useless to race it with the bigger e bikes and 50’s.

Those new KTM e bikes - the little pw replacements seem like very accessible to little tiny kids. It will get them going.

My kid didn’t start until his 8th birthday but if we did it all over …. This is what I would do.

Ride a KTM e50 exclusively from the beginning until the end of his ama 7 year.

Move directly to 65’s from there .

To me that seems like the best way to lay down good fundamentals and cornering without a super hard auto clutch hitting your kid in the back in every corner .

Better confirm that they can unlock the E2 bikes. I’ve read that the company that made the app for the bikes has gone out of business. KTM owed them enough money, that they had to close their doors because they weren’t getting paid. You don’t need an expensive paperweight.

I would think it isn’t the best time to buy an electric ktm 50 good deal or not

The E3 is kind of a rip off compared to the E5, but as these Ebike classes expand, some places will not allow you to race a E5 with a 10" front wheel as it didnt come that way stock. I would look to your local rules and lower and E5 instead of an E3 if possible.

As long as you promise to honor the mini dad mantra and yell and cuss and throw things at Jr after he comes off the track he will love whatever bike you get him.

my 4 year old outgrew the e2 this year in 6 months. We bought a 2024 Gas Gas MC E-5 and threw a lowering kit on it, he's set til he's 8 hopefully.

Get what your kids want not what you want, let them race if they want to race and not because you want them to race,  that’s my advise.  I showered my son with dirtbike stuff when he was a kid, turns out it wasn’t his cup of tea and he’d choose to stay home to ride bmx and skateboards 99% of the time.  He’s found the love for it now that he’s older but bmx is still top on his list ATM.

See so many mini dads going ape shit on their son’s around here. Please don’t be that guy.

Have fun!

Write 2nd is the first looser on the bar pad!

Get what the kids want.  The ol PW is hard to beat if your trying to find out if they are serious.

The E5 has bigger wheels, but it also got more power at the top end and much better suspension. the E3 comes with some cheap shit rear shock. I'd but smaller wheels and shorter damping rods for the E5 before I buy an E3

So I forgot to mention they are both girls and they love to ride. They literally cry if I tell them is raining out and we can’t ride or I get home to late from work and it’s dark and they can’t ride. For whatever reason they are both fearless and already have competitive quality’s between them. I got her pw in a box and fixed it up better than new. My local KTM dealer has been blowing out big bikes and the little ones. The older one is definitely not ready for a 50sx. I liked the idea of the power levels on the e5. From the sounds of it the e3 isn’t worth it. I guess I’m lucky I get to enjoy riding with my girls. (For now). Cheer guys and thanks for the tips. IMG 4342 0IMG 4301 0IMG 3964 2

Pretty much exactly what we did, save one annoying and not fun year of a 50sx, don’t do that.

We went e5 with its multiple power settings and its multiple height settings, built technique and confidence then switched to a 65sx and transition was so easy, fun and successful. Kept the e5 as his pit bike and he still loves using it for fun.
