I don't agree with you on much, but I think this is a pretty spot on assessment of both Dazzy's influence at Honda and Deegan's place at Star.
Star Racing isn't a big company.
And it doesn't always work like that. In the video games industry, you rarely leave a company during a project. It just screws things up, and causes deadlines (Christmas) to be missed. There are a lot of families depending on those deadlines.
Also, there are times when leaving a company at the wrong time can cause them to simply fail. After my previous company didn't survive the pandemic, the company that bought the assets and hired almost all of the former staff, needed some of the engineers from the old company to stick around and help them get up to speed with the significant amount of technology, while keeping customers happy in the mean time.
I stayed. Money matters, but it's not the only thing that matters.
I can't say at this point that a huge pay raise couldn't lure me elsewhere, but during the transition, I would've either given the new company the opportunity to match, or not entertained offers to go elsewhere. There were simply too many people's livelihood at stake.
Plus they're good people, and it's a good company.
I'm sure Coker weighed everything, and decided he still needed to go. For all we know, this may have been in the works for a while, and just announced now.

Sounds like Triumph wanted to bring the SMX team fully in house instead of whatever subcontracting they were doing to Bobby Hewitt for him to run the SMX team for them. Plus with Triumph adding the in house GNCC and Amateur teams next year, they needed a GM to oversee it all.
A big promotion, more responsibility (and money I'd assume) and less travel. Congrats to Coker.
