Bring back little trucks!!!

Somebody at my work has one of these.   It has Mexico license plates.  I had never heard of them or seen one before.  The physical size is similar to all the compact pickups  from the 80's.  It would be cool if they built a regular cab and small extra cab version with a normal size bed.  They don't  sell them in the USA though.

Sons 22 TRD Off-road with tow package. Trailer is 4,033 full of water and propane. Add 1,000lbs of gear and beer and he’s still 1500+ lbs under the 6,800lb listed towing capacity of the truck. I was skeptical but so far so good. He said it pulls it good enough and the trailer has brakes. For now I take his bike, he’s going to get a rack for the back (it’s not a toy hauler) IMG 9714

No way dude, I put a plastic bag over the air filter of my Cummings and roll unburnt fuel on the mini trucks before the 450 beginner gate drop.

Here’s what I want from the Mexican market…about $23K US…Probably pull the trigger on one during the 2025 SCORE season. It’s my idea of a SxS🤣

35-38 mpg in the 5 speed version…which is nice.

You must be offended, or you haven’t seen the trend of large turbo diesel trucks that are tuned specifically to produce large clouds of black smoke. My apologies.

Rather than dumping large amounts of fuel into the cylinders to produce the smoke, you could restrict oxygen. I.e, plastic bag over the air filter.

In theory, you should get the same result, and look just as stupid.

No I’m not “offended” 😄 Just trying to decipher what rolling coal and the 450 beginner class has to do with bringing mini trucks back. I have a Cummins diesel truck too. And while I love the diesel engine, it’s decidedly different than cumming. Both good things but neither have much to do with mini trucks 😆 It’s ok if you don’t like my kids set up. I’m not offended it’s fine.

I’m not hating, I can respect it. The coal rolling just seems obnoxious and silly. It’s impressive the power you can make with a good tuner and some modifications. But if I’m being stereotypical, which I was, it’s easy to poke fun at diesels. I truly have nothing against them.

Missed the humor my mistake.🙃 My 2005 Cummins is 100% stock, we agree the Bro trucks you’re referring too are annoying. I’m going for longevity over sounding bitchin and pouring out black smoke 😎

As far as diesel mini trucks go I’m sticking to my story, the Isuzu diesel pup from the 80’s was the best small work truck I’ve ever owned. If they spent the last 40 plus years refining that truck we’d have a true 3/4 ton long bed mini truck that gets 50mpg.  But sadly we all know they don’t want us to have “lifelong” trucks. No profit in that

I thought about the Maverick but couldn’t do it. The price difference and overall packages were enough for me to justify a new Ranger

Probably a good thing. I’ve got a fully loaded Mav and a lot of small issues already piling up in the last few months since I’ve had it. The chrome is peeling off the window up/down switches, headliner is peeling, and 2 exterior bulbs are out. All minor things but issues I never experienced with other cars after 8-10 years of ownership.

The Slate is a cool truck and concept. I just hope it will actually make it to market..

Agreed.  I think it also needs to be a little less expensive.  Hopefully they can bring the price down.

I think the price is pretty reasonable, $20k with the 7500 tax credit.

I just hope they can keep the price as stated.

I have a 2024 hybrid. Lowered it 2" in front and 3" in rear and installed wheels off of a Ford Focus RS. They are the same bolt pattern and offset. Get high 30's for MPG and get about 25mpg when I am towing my 5'x8' enclosed trailer. I have 17k miles and has been trouble free other than some random connectivity issues with the Apple Play.

But that Slate truck will be my next vehicle if it comes in under $30k (before incentives). If it is available for under $25k out the door sign me up.

Yeah, as long as the credit exists, the price is decent.  But as stripped down as the truck is, it still seems like it should be under $20k.  And I don't love that the long-term success might be reliant on a government credit.

Give me this with a 1.0 3 cyl Turbo Hybrid w/2-4K watts of ac output…charge me $25K & I’ll take 2. Make it AWD for a coupl’a grand more…and I’ll take that, too.

Kinda stoked on what the future holds.

Thanks. Turned out nice I think. I use my box van for races that are close but if I am driving a few hours hard to beat the truck and trailer combo getting 25mpg. The box van is horrid hahaha

If the Slate works out my daughter, who just turned 13, will inherit the Maverick.  I put a deposit on the Slate so hoping to get it sometime in 2027.

You okay with the range?

Tbh the Cybertruck has been my dream since 2019. Just waiting for he prices to come down. Maybe even buy one used like I did my Model Y.

Range is fine as I only drive 50 miles round trip to work and Glen Helen is only 30 miles away. And for longer trips I will still have the Maverick (if my daughter lets me swap with her hahaha) and/or my significant others vehicle. Or my R7.

That’s all you need right there !, perfect.
The new electric jobber looks cool except for the bed looks more like a trunk than a bed. You guys ever wonder how the people deciding what trucks we can buy here can be so out of touch ? I’m sorry but fuck have they ever needed a truck for anything? How the fuck do you come up with a 4 foot bed and call it a truck. I know I sound like a broken record, but that old 80s Isuzu  P’up with the 4 cyl diesel, 8 foot bed and 35+ miles per gallon blows any of this new shit out of the water.

I get why beds are short, because mostly everyone needs a 4 door cab for their fam and friends..
