Can't wait for Dodger Stadium!!! I've never been to Dodger Stadium for anything other than a baseball game and I've never been to Anaheim Stadium for anything other than a supercross!

Personally, I think the tracks are better in a baseball stadium, but all we have is the Dome on SU. I'll take it if I can get it; and I can be home 90 minutes after the checkered flag!

DC would have far more insight regarding this than I, but I believe the issue they run into in the northeast, aside from venue availability, are the unions. DC Sr. promoted a SX at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh years ago, and as I recall, their efforts and costs were increased due to the involvement of unions.

I would love to see a race in the Northeast as well, but to be honest, Toronto is a great city to visit and there are lots of things for the kids to do/see as well. I know people like to bag on the Toronto race, but I personally like going there better than going to Detroit like we did in the past.

That is the best chance right there, as of now.
Unless basketball gets in the way.
I never been to it (I've seen the outside though) so I can't say if its rig/pit friendly.

Earlier, I mentioned the cost has to be higher for a SX in this area and unions are one of those costs.

I went to the Toronto SX in 2004 and I liked the city and the event.

There's a decent size lot they could use for pits right next to the building. Yes, hoops could get in the way, but, to be honest, I have SU season tix and there's only a few Saturday games that would cause a problem. For the amount of money they would make, I'm sure hoops could re-work their schedule if they were given enough time.

What specifically do people not like about the race being in Toronto?

For starters, crossing an International border for a dirt bike race and being there less than 24 hours is truly a PITA. Every time I cross, they want to tear my truck apart; then it's up to me to put it back together again. The only time I'll cross the border with my truck now is if it's got a sled trailer behind it, seems as though they see a sled trailer and see $$$$$ and let me go. Unfortunately, my annual sled trip to Canada is usually at the beginning of December, so i can't piggyback the two.

Other than the sled trip, the only time I'll cross the border is on my VTX. Then, it's only once a year for my annual trip around the lake.

They tear your truck apart coming into Canada? I'm surprised it is that big of deal.. especially when they know a large sporting event is happening. I cross over to the US to race about twice a month.. 80% of the time no problem at all.. 5% of the time The US border gives me a hard time, the other 15% it's the Canada border giving me a hard time with where I bought the bike..

Is the border crossing the only issue most people in the US have regarding the race being in Toronto?

The thing that makes Toronto look ridiculous is the lack of riders... But how do you expect privateers to get paperwork done and to drive from Florida all the way up to Canada and then back to Texas? The track was really good his year so rider turnout is the only problem IMO.

Yes, that's the main sticking point for me. Both times I've driven my truck (2008 Crew Cab 1/2 ton Chevy) to the race in Toronto, I've been stopped by Canadian Officials and have had my truck torn apart. The race isn't near a border crossing so I doubt they care. I'm sure it couldn't be them "profiling" or anything. Why would a 30 year old white male who lives 2 hrs from the border be crossing anyway? Must be up to no good. I still find it funny that when I cross on my trip around the lake, they don't even look twice at me.

Since i've been to both stadiums multiple times, I don't think changing to Oakland is such a good choice. The parking is way bigger and will have more space for the pit party but the just the overall facility at At&t park(San Francisco) is better. And at San Fran i think it attracts more people to the race. This year it was PACKED there. But maybe it'll be good seeing them change the layout this year...
With Oakland's stadium they will at least be able to build a real track. I know lots of people who are tired of the Arenacross track they put in SF every year. Usually SF is a one line snoozefest with 10 minute races. (Last year was better though)

I think change is cool! And Oakland's stadium is super easy to get to with Bart. Even more so than AT&T. May attract more people from the Central valley.

Careful or you will be vacationing with Huck, Lenny, Horndog, Woody, JSloan and about every OG poster on the board! There seems to be a concerted effort to control not only the information on the board but also the manner in which it is delivered, and the attitude of all posters regarding anything INDUSTRIE related!Whistling

Or Woody for that matter. The only thing the people he listed have in common is a desire to be an idiot on the internet.

I like the Carrier Dome idea.

I would say it is safe to assume that the guys that are at the venue Wednesday to Sunday don't like the long hauls, but you have to work with what you can schedule.

I think the Canadian pro's need to step up to the plate a bit more.. but that is a whole other thread. I think Matthes touched on this a while back.

I agree though, the rider turnout is lame and hopefully something can be done to change it.

Yep, Canadian border patrol are funny people sometimes.. Buffalo/Fort Erie is usually the best of the three crossings. Or I should say I have had the least amount of issues there..

The only thing happening at the Dome on Satudays is hoops and Lacrosse and I'm sure they can put a game at Manley Field House if they need to, or schedule it away.. The Toronto race is scheduled at the end of March. That's the NCAA tournament time. They just had a weekend of the Tourney at the Dome this year, so they won't have it for a couple years. Privateers from the US don't like to cross the border because of the hassles. Canadians aren't truly prepared for a full tilt SX track, so most of them stay home or ride the 250 class

When you start promoting Huck's Super-Gallactic Supercross, Mud Bog, and Wet T-Shirt Series, I'm sure you'll do a much better job. Wink
I second the Wet T-Shirt Series!
It will preceed the "Bubbas World Back Yard Supercross Series"!! Wait!!!!

I may be on to something here. How many of the SX Stars have their own SX track at home? Tongue

as for the content of my posts you obviously don't read that many of them.

People are allowed their own opinion. But jeez, it's like freaking clockwork every single year. Whining about the travel schedule every year is the easiest target out there, and more consistent than Alessi or J-Law threads We've seen it every single year that Motodrive was in existence, and the same for Vital.

If it was a rep for the rider's union (cricket, cricket) speaking up, that'd be one thing. But to just get the same regurgitated thread we see every year? C'mon.

Here's one more to throw in the mix. Besides all the semis that make the trip from race-to-race, the rest of the track crew drives in pickups. (You know all those Toyota display vehicles?) Pretty glamorous...and more expense in fuel, and driving time.

Huck has been a longtime member here, and was a large supporter even back in the days that Motodrive accepted Paypal donations. While I tend to lend more credence to OG posters than noobs, even the OG guys have their limits. I've seen in the past where some people think that there are "untouchables" on the board. Obviously that hasn't worked out too well for some who listen poorly, or who who despite warnings, try to test my patience.
