A tool is a tool whether he's the best at something or not

Edit: Last statement wasn't aimed directly at Chad.. Just on the whole

You guys ignored his personality for 20 years. In fact, you embraced it.

Amazing to watch

Not me mate. I've never been a fan of Reed.  Was always rooting (hehe) for Stew, RC, then Villo, not Chad 'Um' Reed.

Proud Aussie here. Reed might have been amazing on the track but he's always acted like an arrogant wanker, even when he was 16 racing SX in Australia. He speaks with an American accent, has lived in USA longer than he had in Australia and just yesterday posted on his Instagram he was "glad to be home" with a photo of the American flag, that says it all.

I want to like him but he just rubs me the wrong way and always seems to have a hard time acknowledging anyone regardless of who it is. And this whole trailblazing to the States and being the first to do it is complete BS, Jeff Leisk and to a lesser extent Dale Britton went over and raced, just didn't have the same success that Chad did.

Wrong answer

I saw a few things in the pits and at races over here back in the day that made me not like him.. Always seemed like he thought he was bigger than the sport here which was probably true but still.. I changed my mind in the twotwo days seemed like he was more humble or something which I guess happens to everyone but then the whole I deserve a final des Nations situation and how he reacted to not getting it, tipped the scales back and ever since he's said and done things that some might agree with but I didn't.. And then the final straw was no reaction to Team Aus winning des Nations! That event means a lot to our country and to finally win it was arguably the greatest moment in Australian motocross history! I'm not gonna call him names or criticise him but I'm definitely not gonna cross the street to see him either

Nothing to do with trashing him mate, we all recognise and are proud of our Chad as one of the greatest to ever do it, and in the way that he did. Ironically its the same "bitter" attitude we're speaking of here that helped drive him to such great heights. Its just a shame that in his post career, he seemingly has no interest in recognizing our next generation.

We're simple folk down here, no need to complicate it.

The same thing happened with Wayne Gardner, he gave Mick Doohan no respect, both were great riders, but some people find it difficult when they are no longer in the limelight.

Getting a little off topic here.

Can we get back to hating on Jett please.

I don’t blame Chad one bit look at the way he did it, then look at the Jettsons path…completely different. Also Chad was the most raw, honest rider ever next to Hannah, how could he be a fan of the most corporate and polished riders to ever come here? Pretty sure we’ve never heard them say a word that didn’t get approved by Lucas before they said it.

Also Chad is a Deegan fan so there’s not gonna be a whole lot of overlap there.

Hot take: MX 2009 was much more impressive than MX 2023 because of preseason expectations.

When has Chad 'um' Reed not been a bit of a cock?  He spends all his time trying to put himself on the same level as Stew and RC and denigrates everyone else.  He stuck around for way to long and took the piss by showing up fat and out of shape - for no other reason than he couldn't stand to give up the limelight. As soon as Jett showed up he knew his time being the darling of Aus motocross/sx was up and he finally retired. Since then he has continued to take cheap pot shots at the Lawrences - joined occasionally by his insufferable wife.

he's definitely been a cock, but I dont recall any pot shots at the Lawrences? Care to enlighten?

His ignorant wife popped off about them ducking the competition when the whole they banned degan bullshit started.

I may not be from Aussie but I completely disagree.  Chad has a specific mindset. He has talked up the Lawrence brothers about how he is proud of them and how they have done it their own way. He helped Jett when he was young at Aus X as well. Then in America he helps the younger riders each combine out of joy. Tate is being pushed because Tate himself says he wants it.  So as his father who knows what to do what do you expect from Chad? He seems to drive a hard line on effort, attitude, and what it takes.  But the ultimate decision is Tates. I don't get people on this forum. The dude is a legend because he didn't have the help of his parents or family while traveling to other countries. Very different than Stew and RC being in the backyard with the entire family to support.

Gypsy does that every press conference. He sets the question up for so long the riders forget what he’s even trying to say.  I can’t listen to his podcasts he’s always trying to relate himself to the rider and it just comes off goofy.

I completely "get it"...he's there 'cause this is an Aussie thing and all that...but...damn...talk about dragging on and on and on...

Someone like JS7 could ask questions that are more relevant and probably funnier...or more fun.

Another thing: I can see where Honda may have not had this race in their budget or maybe they didn't even want the boys doing this race for whatever reason(s)...(and after seeing Jett wad-it-up that probably makes sense to some folks)...BUT...at this level of racing...with ALL THE SUCCESS that Honda's had with Team Lawrence and ALL THE WINNING they've done...including an All-Aussie HONDA Motocross Des Nations SWEEP that was reminiscent of the good ol' HRC days...

I'm certainly "Not Getting It" when it comes to NOT FULLY SUPPORTING THIS RACE WITH THEIR FULL HRC COMPLIMENT OF BIKES AND PERSONNEL.

To me, at this level, Honda should support these races...this "Team" FULLY...for Honda's benefit and the Lawrence's.

But, I digress.

See you at A1!

We both know he is NEVER going to respond to anyone who slightly disagrees with him or calls him out on his BS....

Remember, he's the "tough old man" that gets his feelings hurt like a toddler.  Ironic I know.

Legend yes. One of the greats yes indeed. Awesome to watch, hell yeh.

Let's get one thing straight Chad only does for Chad. Every time he speaks, he thinks he's outsmarting the industry and people like you and me.

I was a Chad the rider fan but when the helmet came off was a different story.

Regardless of what he says and does I will always acknowledge how amazing a rider he was.

This is one take Gypsy got right.  He said following all the hate after the McGrath comments and the Anderson incident Jett and the Lawrences have closed ranks. The fans want the personality and the brilliant riding, but when they get it they shit all over the rider. Not saying that Jett didn't have a part to play in the Old Hombre deal but the response he got from the American fans was totally out of proportion, not to mention all the sad fucks having a whinge because he even dared to say he wanted to beat McGrath's record.

Best thing for Jett to do is just think fuck the American fans and keeping clocking up wins, titles, and cash.
