Just last week everybody thought Colton Facciotti might be finished for the year after a horrendous crash in Calgary in the 1st moto. He had to be airlifted to emergency. Up to that point he had won every race and moto of the 2010 nats by big margins. To everybody's surprise he announced just yesterday that he would race todays national in Manitoba. This guy has got grit. With a broken orbital bone, a very sore body and multiple cuts to his face he showed up and won both motos!

I really, really hope this talented young racer (the 2008 and 2009 MX1 -450- Canada national champ) will take his skill to the US next year. I don't know how well he'd do, but I'd be willing to bet that once he got used to it down there that he'd be top 10, maybe top 5 in the 450 class. He's fast, very smooth, kind of European looking on the bike- quite tall- and works harder than anybody in the Great White North. And this is one guy who would be proud to call himself a CanuckWink

I'm amazed. Talk about damage control. He'll be back in the points lead after the next race.

Obviously not proud enough as he rode the Montreal supercross insted of riding for Canada at the MXON in Italy last year.

Before you go shooting your mouth off you should understand that Colt was NOT chosen to ride for Team Canada.

Terry.. I may be wrong but I was told he wasn't picked for the MXdN team because his sponsor wanted him racing the Montreal SX. Is that true? If not why the hell wouldn't team Canada pick obviously their best rider to race the Nations?

Dusty Klatt seemed to be running Colt down in moto 2 until a crash, but still, a SUPER impressive day by the best rider in Canada. Congrats Colton!

Back on topic though. Congrats on a superman like come back Colton. I would love to see him race more down here. I think once he got acclimated to the AMA pace he could run top 5.

Yes that is correct , Colt had to race the Montreal SX as it is one of the most important races of the year for the Blackfoot team .

Why was the Montreal SX scheduled on the same day as the MXON ? Good old politics would be my guess .

That's pretty unreal from Facciotti. But I hope he's getting good doctor's advice.... concussions aren't something to fuck around with. He was knocked out on the track for a good while just a week ago.

Technically correct. Colt wanted to ride the MXoN but wasn't picked because of sponsor obligations. Far different than what 320 is assuming.

The thing you have to keep in mind here is that the major motocross sanctioning body of both amature and pro racing in Canada is the CMRC, and the Canadian FIM affiliate is the CMA. Why the CMA, who has been hanging on by a thread for 25 years, is still the FIM affiliate is purely political. The CMA president has been in bed with the FIM for many years and until that person leaves that post, things are not likely to change.

CMA runs only a handfull of MX races every year, just enough I imagine, to maintain it's FIM affiliation. The riders sent to the MXoN don't even ride CMA events, yet they are picked by the CMA.

Colton was under contract to ride the Montreal SX and couldn't go to the Des Nations. Believe me, there was lots of discontent in the Canadian mx community that neither he or Klatt could team up with Wilson. Wilson did great winning the B final, but the other two 450 guys that went were not nearly as fast as Facciotti and Klatt.
