People that have way too much control over Orange County.
Saddleback was on Irvine Company land, so was OCIR back in the early 80's both were shut down and from what i've heard the Irvine company will do anything to keep MX out. as evident by how they had Saddleback 2 shut down.

Thank you for your post Sondy. Hopefully, we'll be working with your dad and CMC at this track in the very near future. Our current group has invested a substantial amount of time, money, resources and effort in making this happen... we are 100% committed to making this happen ASAP. We have decided that by adding a few more dedicated enthusiasts to our ownership group will only make it happen sooner than later. Some ways to contribute and become a part this group and its success is as follows;

1. Financial investment (Ownership shares / membership, sponsorships, donations, etc.)
2. Contributing ones services thus bartering for ownership or membership costs such as;
a. Grading contractors (labor, eqpt., dirt, etc.)
b. Lawyer/legal help
c. Commercial real estate services for another future location
c. Volunteering or donating labor, materials, etc.
d. Other suggestions or ways to contribute... ??

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hey Folks this is (John) myself and some partners are trying to see if there is any interest in a members only MX facility in the OC.

I'm not going to divulge all the info here but if you are interested feel free to email me and I will give better details.
500guy John... We could have... and we HAVE said it with full blown flyers... only to mostly get similar responses by NEGATIVE people and some ass-wipes like the few we have in here... which is simply astonishing that the majority response is USELESS asswipes crap. But our group is diligent dedicated enthusiasts that will not let anybody or thing deter us from making this happen!

The good news is that this simple short topic / post that we have above has produced a few REAL dedicated mx enthusiasts for us that have already become active in our group and have contributed some awesome and useable resources.

Thank you motox48, sondy and others that know who you are! They understand why these type of ventures MUST be kept low key, otherwise idiots like Backfire and his negative environmentalists or chronic complainers will shut us down before we ever get started!

The post does look like a scam , Normally legitimate business has some contact info addresses and names not just an anonymous email address.

You all know as well as I do that had he come on here with more info and a plan every know it all that would never have anything to do with it would Monday morning quarterback him. Some a*hole would probably have called him out as a spammer. The negativity around here probably forced this guy to do it this way to weed out all the BS he would get from posting his goups' plan.

If your interested in it, hit him with an email!

It isn't like he is asking for CC number and needs you to stash 10 million african rubies in your bank account that the prince of Zaire miraculously didn't know he had and just needs a safe place to keep it...

Maybe if you email him, like his plan and are truly interested, he will forward you the contacts you need.
Awesome response Regis...maybe some of the ass-wipes will post their real names, address, email and phone numbers so that we don't mistakenly let them join! Ready ass-wipes!

Why not build an indoor track like they do back east? OC has a bunch of empty warehouses that would do the job. When I first moved out here to CA back in 1990 their was a economic downturn with plenty of empty commercial space, said to myself then, "Wish I had the cheese to build a track in one of these buildings!"
Would be nice, climate controlled even.
mxbundy... We already have plans and documents for that in the works and are diligently pushing them thru the county and city. FYI, a proposal for an indoor track (5 tracks) was shot down in OC a few years ago. Several hundred thousand dollars spent and GONE because of a few government radicals!

Bren and the Irvine Co.have NOTHING against motocross!!

What they have a problem with are the few sue happy maniac types like " Backfire" ass-wipes that are so frickin stupid and have NO BACKBONE to stand up and be responsible for their own stupidity, thus they have to blame somebody else for their actions and they sue for millions that they never would earned themselves in 20 lifrtimes! Those idiots ruined it for all of us!

MXinOC, if you fail to get any traction for your ideas in the States you may want to consider heading down under. Lord knows we could use a good lobbyist to (i) help stop the progressive closure of existing tracks, and (ii) to campaign for the opening of new tracks and public riding areas.

500guy.... You could have something like the following response that we received directly... I have edited it as needed to protect the sender...

Saw your post. I live in xxxxxxxxxxx. Been riding / racing in California since 1976. For what it is worth my son and his best friend attended school with the sister of xxxxxxxxxxxxx- one of the primary investors / operators of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. xxxxx who is a CPA, worked with my sons friend, xxxxxxxx (We all ride together) and if you have not talked to him already xxxxxxx I would suggest you do. I am sure it would be good to pick his brain.

I really don't know xxxxxxxx at all, but from what my son and xxxxxxxxx have told me, he is a great guy and I am sure he would help out if he could. xxxxxxxx keeps in touch with him and I could put you two in touch if you want to give it a go.

As far as what I have to offer...

I have been in xxxxxxxxxxx for over 25 years and been racing all of those 25 years. Between the two, I know a lot of people in the industry as well as having contacts with lawyers, Judges and politicians. I am a proactive get things done type of person and would be willing to help in anyway if possible. I have also helped a little in the advice department, as well as get the word out, for xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx before his track opened.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

One almost came to fruition in Wilmington by the refineries back around 03-04......It was actually zoned for mx too! They had all the plans drawings and city backing etc. but for some reason it never got off the ground, I never found out why but it got dam close.

Having a track close in OC or even the metropolitan LA county area would be an absolute gold mine!! The track at the Oakley factory got shut down by the Irvine co before it even got ridden on .....if i remember correctly it was for employees and sponsored riders.....there is even a photo shoot of JS scrubbing a jump on that track recently on one of his YZ450F's. It was a background image on his twitter page.

Ill say this it's a DAM shame Saddleback 2 got shut down I loved riding that place and it made me such a better rider by having a track so close I could drive home w/o falling asleep on the way home I rode there at least 2-3 times a week and would do the same if there were a track that was less than 60 miles away from me. Milestone is the closest but isn't very acessable for night riding after work. Saddleback ALWAYS was and I had never rode better, faster etc than when I was riding there on a regular basis.

It sucks it's so hard to get a track open in the OC for whatever reason....has anyine looked into the edge of OC where the 57 and the 60 meet in brea? or that old quarry where the 241 and the 91 meet? I don't know where your supposed track is gonna be but im behind you 100% on this and if I had any mass amounts of money i would donate as much as possible.

All of us in the area should get behind this!

For "some reason"?

Why would anyone abandon a "gold mine" (bullshit)

Because it won't work.

Saddleback2 sucked. I drove the extra hour to ride a decent track.

Track was lame, dirt was concrete, and the dumbass factor rivaled lake elsinore mx.

I'm not sure the Irvine Company has anything to do with Oakley getting shut down. I believe Oakley owns the building and land (It's their world headquarters). I think the City and lawyers have more to do with the curent state of that track.

On another note, right across the toll road is Saddleback Church, which has a private freestyle park that used to be busy a couple years ago but I'm not sure if anyone rides there anymore since I don't drive by that place at all anymore. There also used to be a supercross track in the hills just above Oakley. I used to watch Damon Bradshaw practice there about 18 years ago. The lot is still empty but there are houses across the street now.

Several years ago I made a weak attempt to propose a bike park (Like the Etnies Skate Park but dirt). Lake Forest was interrested but they just spent all of their money and resources opening the Skate Park. My advise would be to put a package together (which I'm sure you already have) and start talking to City Planners or Recreation Directors. I would also try to model your proposals after a Skate Park since they seemed to have gotten around the City's liability issues with injuries. The Etnies Skate Park is extremely successful and is expanding. They get a ton of good publicity and have high level competitions there. Somehow you have to sell that to the city. Maybe it's a case of "go big or go home" so the city can see the dollar signs in their eyes. Maybe a world class facility is what they need.

Dude that track was meant to be used for only one day, it was never proposed to be a operating "track". It was for JS to do a demo for the military that oakley put on.

Maybe that too but, they were trying to make it an employee/rider only track. That track was built 1 or 2 years ago as part of Oakley's "dirt lab". They also have dirt jumps on the property for employees to ride throughout the day. I went and talked to acouple guys on their lunch break about it.

Baldwin Brothers used to have a track off El Toro Rd about 1/2 way to Cooks Corner back in the early 90's. That place was awesome. Even a small jetski pond. Haven't ridden there since then. Don't know if someone's living room is on top of it now?
