I rode my friends 2023 ktm300 xc and it was a great bike. Only rode a few miles of east coast rocky rooty single track but I felt as fast on it as I would feel on my own bike in a matter of moments.
It has air forks and they were good. The power was super smooth and pulled well. If I were to pick between an Austrian 350 4s or 300 2s I would have a hard time making that choice. I really like the 350s too.
It’s a fun bike for both track and trail. Being used to a 450 all these years, I overshot jumps and had a hard time keeping front end down 🙂 It’s light and powerful. There’s been some posts about engine failures but so far so good for me 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve had good luck with FI so far. Throttle response seemed a bit slow until I got used to it.
How’s the suspension? I hate the thought of paying so much for a new bike just to have to get it fixed! ( suspension)
Some people despise the suspension, some are OK with it but very few actually like it. I despise the suspension and put over $1200 just to make it somewhat OK. A 300 with the KYB conversion would be the ticket but spending another $3000+ on an $11,000 dirt bike doesn’t sit well with me. There’s a reason why almost every single suspension tuner has a “fix” or “conversion kit” for the WP stuff. It’s because there’s such a high demand from people who have it. Other than that, I absolutely love the Austrian 300’s.
With that being said, my next bike will be a Beta Race Edition or YZ 250. In my opinion, us mere mortal dirt bike riders shouldn’t have to do much more than springs and revalve to make our suspension good for us.

Which model are you asking about EC, EX or MC? If you are asking about EC it is really good for hard enduro, but it is pretty bad for MX or something like more classic enduro and cross country.
No complaints, kept it stock so far. Doesn’t tend to dip like my last set of air forks. Definitely feels soft at first but stiffens up once you get in the stroke.
Not a 300 but I’m really enjoying my 250. Initial snap is a bit slow on the stand but not really noticeable while riding. They are very smooth and rev out nicely. Also I am enjoying the suspension settings a lot more on this Gasgas vs the husky or ktms I’ve recently had. Much more forgiving in the choppy stuff. The air forks are not as good as a nice pair of spring forks but they have come a long way. I actually think the forks are better than the shock. I’ll be trying the Jbi setup here in the next couple months. I like this generation much much more than the carbureted versions in every way. I’m a happy camper when riding this steed.
I’ve got a 24 EC 300, I love this thing! 25 pure race hours and it’s still like its brand new. It is 100% a do everything bike.

Don’t need to change to KYB when their new spring fork is pretty much a KYB fork. Why wouldn’t you look an an XC/TX/EX if you’re considering a Beta 300 RE?
I wouldn’t want to do any kind of serious MX with stock XPLOR forks.
I don’t. Race XC mainly. It still will handle jumps just fine.
It’s too bad they didn’t put the new forks on the 24 EC, the EX got them and they are way more versatile.
The new fork isn’t anywhere near as good as the KYB.
I hear it’s an improved copy, with better machined parts than a kyb. I have not tried that fork yet , just what my friends in the suspension industry tell me.
I love my 25 ktm 300sx
Ride one before you buy. Many people do not care for the TBI 2 strokes. Lots of regret stories.
Way better than the TDI stuff. Lots more two stroke feeling. In my opinion
Well hey man, you’re entitled to your opinion.
It’s a great fork, good quality finishes and coatings.
It performs as well as any non A Kit KYB I’ve ever owned. Simple revalve and ICS spring change and they are awesome for my application. Quite a few reputable tuners seem to feel the same way.
My XC inserts with a basic revalve and 16n/mm ICS springs feel way better than a set of RE KYB’s.
Pit Row
It’s a great fork, and I’m coming from KYB on my last 4 bikes. Small differences between the two but similar design, feel and function.
The WP bottoming cone works and feels different but they rock. I’d love to try a set set up for MX. Mine is set up for woods.
I have a 2023 EX. I love it, works everywhere, woods or Mx track. No issues. It pulls like a 4 stroke, very linear.
I did not ride one but I did talk with a 65 year old guy at Perris today who was riding one and he was going at moderate pace for a 65 year old and he said that it had no vibration, and had soft suspension which was perfect for is 160 lb weight and slower speed, and that it was quite fast.
I would say that if you are an intermediate type rider and are used to bigger cc bikes, you might want to get a 350 2 stroke, and if you are used to 250's or smaller and just want a small bumo in hp, then the 300 would be a great choice.
What 350 2 stroke?
Have a 25 300 SX and the bike is just fun!!!!! Light ,handles great, awesome roll on torque and nearly impossible to stall.
Beta 350RX
Said to be available around early / mid 2025. That picture is of the bike set up for the EICMA FT Time Trial event for Casey Stoner. I can't find my pictures of the actual RX set up at the moment.
That’s a one off for the moment.
No one makes a regular production 350 smoker.
All I can say is WOW!!!!!
Beta have said it will be sold, in the time frame I mentioned.
I well remember when Beta were developing their 250 and 300 2ts (and, Sherco, for that matter) where so many internet pundits said they would never bring them to market, as there was no demand for them...........
Beta will sell every one they make - my hope is that other manufacturers will also do more than just a squared up (that's what most 300s are) 250. I find it laughable when 300s ( don't get me wrong, they are fantastic machines) are referred to as 'Big Bores'. As I always say, a 350 / 400 / 450 Modern 2t would be damned near the perfect bike.
And it’s still a one off and nobody currently makes a 350.
Beta is small, they can make small volume niche models. They are more agile than a larger manufacturer.
What other manufacturers do you think would produce a 350 or larger 2T? TM?
We are getting off topic here.
