I'm looking for old entry lists for AMA Supercross, Motocross, Trans-AMA, and Inter-AMA events from 1970-1997. I'm trying to piece together a list of riders/numbers by year. I've been able to retrieve a pretty comprehensive list for years going back to 1998 (and top 100 national numbers going back to 1980) but I'm struggling to find rider/numbers for any years prior. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I wonder if CycleNews has any old lists they could provide you directly?

For the cost of a subscription and paying a savvy guy to work some computer magic (Python code or similar) you could scrape all kinds of data from those old digitized issues they have available.

My post has me contemplating how long it has been since I last held a paper copy of CycleNews in my hands...

I’ll do you a favor for one number. Kyle Chisholm has been number 11 for about 87 years now when it should be ran by someone who runs up front.

87 years 🤣🤣🤣, how is he still racing all the series and staying healthy at his age, surprised he doesn’t have knee problems like deano, not that extreme but you know what i’m saying i hope.

Chisholm got his #11 in 2010. The injuries were pretty bad that year, and Chisholm was still capable of being a top 10 guy. This was also before they counted 250SX points, so 450 riders had a pretty big advantage. Interestingly, he's one of a small handful of riders to earn a permanent number with no wins to his name, and I believe, the only rider to earn a permanent number without a podium. He also has one of longest running permanent numbers of all time.

That was Voss, he won the "world" title the year they had those two early rounds. Chad won the actual 2004 SX championship that year but Voss won the world.

Here's the schedule that year:

Dec. 6…Seville, Spain
Dec. 13…Arnhem, Holland
Jan. 03…Anaheim, USA
Jan. 10…Phoenix, USA
Jan. 17…Anaheim, USA
Jan. 24…San Diego, USA
Jan. 31…Anaheim, USA
Feb. 7…San Francisco, USA
Feb. 14…Houston, USA
Feb. 21…Minneapolis, USA
Feb. 28… Atlanta, USA
Mar. 13…St. Louis, USA
Mar. 20…Indianapolis, USA
Apr. 3…Pontiac, USA
Apr. 17…Dallas, USA
Apr. 24…Salt Lake, USA
May 1…Las Vegas, USA

Thanks, that's a huge help! I'm considering collecting old souvenir programs off Ebay, but they can run almost $100 a pop. I used to collect old British Grand Prix programs. They used to run lIke $5 each, but since Covid, they spiked to $30. Still not bad, but I have almost a full set of from the early 50's to the mid-80's.

Exactly why it annoys me. He’s had a vice grip on that number for what seems like forever. When you think of all the badasses that have had number 11 Chisholm barely comes to mind even with how long he’s had it.

Didn't Kyle Chisolm win  a regional 250 sx title many years ago which may have helped him keep the #11 for as long as he has which does at times seem far too long.

lol tell me you're a generation behind without telling me... Chiz was, and still is a badass. The guy has numerous top tens, indoors and out, and if memory serves correct, he was top 5's nationals at one point, may be wrong... And, not too long ago he dropped back down to the 250 class and served some lessons there for a season.

Chisholm was on the brink of being a top-5 guy in early 2011 SX (the greatest season ever) before he got his throat run over at Houston. Definitely not some slouch. This was when he was on MCR Yamaha and working with DV

Yeah, I saw that crash happen right in front of me. It was so brutal I remember thinking it was a career ender. Dude is an animal, and he clearly loves racing.
