Yamaha eMtb's smoking deals! (Spoke with my wallet)

I've been trying to find a 7 in large, but have failed. I'd buy it right now if I could!

I'm hearing that they are out of the extra batteries and you only get one if it was registered by 10/21. I've been in contact with my local dealer and waiting on mine to come in. Even without the extra battery its a heck of a deal. I wasn't in the market either until I saw the deal mentioned on the gncc fb group lol. 

I just sucked it up and got a 05 Medium. I'm 5'10 which is in the medium pocket, but I like a larger bike. I've got a 7 mile woods track at my house and this will hopefully get me pedaling around it too. Way too steep for regular mtb. 

I got a 7 in medium a couple weeks ago, a small would’ve fit me better but this should work. Picked it up on the 21st but don’t know if the dealer registered it in time to get the battery or not. Even if not feel it was a great deal, never had an e-bike before and this is pretty nice! Used to mountain bike a lot in the early 2000s but stopped about 15 years ago so hope this gives me the motivation to get back out there riding. I hopped on this deal, in September. Probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. I went with the Moro Pro and these bikes are awesome. A couple of my regular MTB buddies got them too (they both got Moro 07s) and we have been loving them. So far I've only done a few small things to it. It really doesn't need much. My standard bike is a Specialized SJ Evo carbon and I wasn't sure how I would like the change to Rock Shox components or some of the other brand differences, like Magura brakes etc. But honestly, you can just rip on the Moro, so I don't even think about the components. I got everything pretty dialed and I just ride the thing. I'll replace as needed. I am pretty sure every model is now sold-out online through Yamaha. And the extra battery, I believe is no longer available. But if you can find a bike at the dealers still, I'd say to grab it. 

Some of the reviews made it seem like Yamaha was out of touch with their geo and choices they made. But I honestly think that's just a little bit of how the MTB industry is. It's so much group think and following industry trends. A lot of time I don't agree with the direction that some things have gone, but that's just my opinion. But I think Yamaha did their homework here. The 27.5 wheels make the bike feel snappy. I think that was a smart move. The bike is very balanced, as far as weight distribution. And combined with the geo, I found it to be a very good, overall handling bike. I've done tight, techy XC type of stuff, with lots of climbs and slower speed and I've done fast flowy jump-line stuff. It works great. Maybe the only thing it may struggle for a really skilled rider is like really hardcore DH type stuff, but I don't think that was the focus of the bike anyways. It jumps awesome though and it handles so good in every situation that I've ridden in. Very confidence inspiring. That's my review on it

I think they're going to stop making the full bikes but are going to continue making electric motors for bicycles correct? If that's the case, I'd assume that batteries and motor parts will be available for a long time.

Plus it looks like if you want to mod it there are some options out there…

They are just leaving the US market. Yamaha USA is not selling bicycles, but  for the global market, they are still producing as of now.

Yeah I'm a big fan on 27.5. I've owned them in the past and I was honestly a little bummed that the Evo didn't offer the option of 1 or the other, when I bought it (it's a 2022.) But 29 certainly has it's advantages too. Having ridden the Turbo Levo full 29 and now the Moro, I think on the eMTB, I prefer the 27.5. Maybe a mullet type of set-up could work, but I have never ridden one. Also, the plus sized tires make a lot of sense to me, on the Moro. I know on the FB group for these bikes, a lot of MTB purists have gone to a slimmer tire, as "plus size isn't cool anymore." But again, I think the traction and feel of the bigger tire works on this particular bike.  Again, just my opinion. 

The stand is a Rockbros. I got mine through a bike shop's ebay store, but they are easy to get online in other places. I got it because it adjusts for different width tires. The spring stand in the pic, that my Evo is on, is not wide enough for the 2.8 tires on the Moro. The Rockbros works pretty good on the Moro and it wasn't too expensive.

Geometry is sort of goofy and im not a fan of 27.5+ but I thought about getting one to just use for riding tracks for off-road races. I rather get this $1900 ebike stolen than my real mountain bikes. Plus they are ugly enough especially in the yellow im not sure anyone would want to steal it. 

That 07 or the Pro are worth the extra money if you can find them they have decent enough stuff that you could really ride them. 

The 05 and 07 come with 2.6. On the Pro they come stock with 2.8. I've swapped with both of my buddy's 07s and they feel pretty similar. I'm going to stick with the 2.8s though. 

I picked up the acerbis stand. You can use it in different positions to save space storage or to elevate wheels to lube chain/make adjustments

Yeah it has the previous PWX2 and I did consider that and almost just got the 07 because of it. But I researched and talked to a couple ppl with them and said that it is not noticeable. And since both motors are warrantied for 5 years, I just got the Pro. After riding both back to back, I can tell absolutely no difference at all. Especially because there are only 2 power modes that even use full power, and my normal riding I use Standard and HP, so those modes are capped at 70 or 75nM. And in full power mode, I still really didn't notice at all. However, visually the PWx3 does look more compact and it does save over 1lb of weight. So that is cool. But ultimately I didn't really care. The fork on the 07 is slightly better also, but I was wanting to do the internal upgrade kit that would fit either fork, so that didn't matter to me. Also, the Pro is geared slightly different, as it has an 11spd, compared to the 12spd on the 07. Other than that, the tires and the display are different, I prefer the Pro display rather than the light bars. And the cranks are slightly longer. That's about all I remember, from researching. Basically the Pro and 07 are pretty equal and the 05 and base yellow are pretty equal. Can't go wrong with any, and if you are going to upgrade anyways, the lower models might actually be a better buy.

How does this compare to the GASGAS and Husqy E-MTB’s? They sell for a great price at Kaplan Cycles.

I’m picking up a Moro 07 in two weeks.  I demoed one last year and was very impressed in comparison to my Specialized Emtb.  I definitely didn’t need another mtb but a deal as good as this one was too tough to pass up. Now the wife can have the 5 year old specialized all to herself. Haha. 
 

I was also looking at the Husky models. In my opinion, the Yamaha is the better bike when you are comparing models within the same price window (comparing original MSRP, of course, so like under $5k.) But some of the newer higher-end models from Husky are really sick looking. I think the higher end Hardcross and Mountaincross would be better than the Yamaha, just because the get higher end components. The lower or older models are still good though. But I feel like the Yamaha was a lot of bike for the money regardless. With the sale price, it's just ridiculous. But the Husqvarnas are also a good value and they would certainly be in play for me, if I were buying right now. I've seen the base model Hardcross ('24 model) for like $3k online, and that is also a really good bike for that price. Tough to beat.

Call me Old Fashioned. But paying $2300 for a bicycle is fkn insanity. I don't care if it is Electric. They shouldn't cost more than $800. There's maybe....maybe $150 in raw material on a Ebike.

Since I got the 05, I was thinking of putting in the Pike dampener in the front and reconfiguring for 29er to run a mullet - anyone done this?

I've convinced myself that is a parody account and a pretty funny one, similar to TYLER form Texis. I know it's probably not true but it makes reading Vital much less frustrating. 

This may be a dumb question as I haven't even looked yet...But how are yall hauling these bikes in a trailer or van. I pull an enclosed trailer and use the risk racing lock-n-load setup for my bikes. I've never transported a mtb and need a setup asap for next weekend (assuming the bike will be here)

I was lucky enough to get one before they basically sold out. First emtb and I love it. It’s a great consolation prize when I don’t feel like loading up my dirt bike and driving 2 hours to a track.
