I've always had Bell helmets but I really like the way Shoei helmets fit my head. Any idea if they're working on a carbon version of the VFX-Evo?
And for anyone wondering, just like the look of the carbon. Just a vet rider trying to look good....
100 different opinions incoming..Buy whatever helmet you think looks the best...
I love the way Shoei helmets fit my head too, but I doubt they have any plans to make a carbon VFX-EVO. Troy Lee SE5 is as close as I've found to the fit of a Shoei and they have carbon and composite shells available, a few of them on sale for a few hundy off on their website right now.
The AMA fought for your rights, you don't have to wear one.
Who buys a $600 helmet without ECE 22.06 when a $60 helmet has it? Who buys this shit?

I wore Shoie forever. I started selling Alpinestars helmets and I had one instock in my size that i was thinking about selling myself. The time came to grab a helmet and at first I grabbed my trusty Shoei. Not the current generation, the previous one. After putting it on, I pulled it right off and wore the Alpinestars. I have 2 SM8's they fit the same as the 23 and older SM10. And they fit me much better than the Shoei's. A little harder to pop onto my head. But after its on , is super comfortable and vents so well.
I sold one to a buddy that also has been wearing Shoei's. But he has a couple of the current generation EVO's . The day after he wore it, he called me up and said he needed another one. At first I thought he was going to say he crashed and destroyed it. But he said that it is so much lighter and vents so much better, He can not ride with the Shoei anymore and wanted at least another SM10. I ended up getting him a close out SM8 and 24and newer SM10 . The newest SM10 has little snugger fit, but I was able to swap the liner in from my older SM10 and it fits even better than the olde helmet with the old liner. So if You try one on and find Yourself in between sizes, You can use the older cheek pads and gain some room.
I would also look at the 6d ATR-3 or ATR-2 if Your looking for a little less expensive helmet. 6D can rebuild a helmet after a crash as long as the shell is ok.
Leatt Helmets are really nice too. They have a crash replacement program that discounts a replacement .
And Thor has a revised version of their helmet that uses Koroyd and they have a carbon fiber version. Its worth taking a look at if You wear Thor gear.
The SM8/10 fits me the best. I sell the brands I listed above so I have experience with customers trying them on and feedback. We sell many more SM8's and 10's than the other helmets. Fly's top end helmet is worth a look too. I've heard a lot of great feedback about those.
But go and try on whichever helmets You are interested in and the one that fits the best will often be the most protective for you. A bad fitting top of the line helmet may not be as safe as a less expensive helmet that fits perfectly. A high end , perfect fitting helmet will be the safest combo of course.
Yeah I know the delima of new helmets, what I want and what I’m willing to pay are two different things! lol I did try on a SM5, and was really impressed with the fit,
Dude I really wish you were one of my dealers haha! We could nerd out on helmets every week 😂
I was thinking the same thing!
The Alpinestars helmet looks great. I’ve been wearing a Fly helmet and it feels good to me, I switched from a TLD after a crash.
Related, when is PU going to start having the ATR-3 in stock?
I wore Shoei forever and currently have about 5 of them. They fit my head great. I just recently picked up a 6D ATR-3 in carbon. It fits great also. Things I have noticed in about 4 rides in hot weather, It sits much better on my head than the Shoei's with less tendency to sag and push my goggles down on my nose. It is noticeably much lighter. The liner seems to dry out much quicker between motos and not get as soggy and saggy from sweat. The liner is also easier to remove and install than Shoei. So far, I am digging it. This is gloss black(carbon), they also have matte black(carbon).
We won’t be carrying the ATR3.
😥 Bummer!
Yeah I'm disappointed for sure. I love the helmets but I believe we won't be carrying the brand going forward.
