DIY vented front number plate?

Hello all

I’d like to do it on my new MC 250 2t. How do ya all do it? How am i going to apply adesive numbers on a grated/irregular metal panel? How do i do a clean cut on the plate plastic?

I was thinking of doing that then I realized what a poser move it is. Like I really need extra cooling for my 20 min motos on a new 450. Kinda like for an MC250. That being said I’d use a dremel tool, a painted screen, some rivets and I’d cut around the numbers as opposed to sticking them on the screen or use plastic bolt on ones like the old holeshot # plates, extra points if anyone remembers those. Just look at some pics you’ll figure it out

Who cares if anyone thinks it’s silly or not necessary your bike should look the way you want it to. It’s part of the fun essentially

Put the numbers on your plate as normal, then use a dremel to cut away the plastic you don’t want. Last, rivet a screen material of your choice to the back of the plate. Or, small zip ties. I think it looks cool.

I’ve been posing for over 50 years but it sure is fun. I’ve thought of bringing the vented plate back as well. I know there is an old thread on this subject that may help out.

If you can be in front from the start, it's awesome. Otherwise you'll be cleaning mud out of your cdi or whatever is behind it. Sure look cool though. Brings back youthful days for me.

We did a survey a few months about releasing an official vented plate.  Wasn't positive.  We love 'em, but, the market doesn't seem interested.

Half vented plates always looked good. But with the 4-stroke Yamaha's it actually serves a real purpose for better air intake.
