NASA drops the ball on any kind of a viable space program,(and yet still gets funding from the taxpayers) and he picks it up and runs away with it for the win.
Is he not in the process of rescuing the two who are stranded up in the space station ??
NASA is not only working with SpaceX, they are also funding SpaceX with billions.
I really don't think people understand how monumental this was. Its not just landing a rocket. Its landing it un-manned rocket on the launch tower without touching the ground, with only lower boosters for thrust direction and those square wind brakes for angle adjustment. Truly incredible. Speechless.
Edit: Also, no one understands just how big that booster is. 233 ft tall and 30 ft wide.

It seems crazy that they can keep it that stable with all of the thrust coming from the bottom of the thing. It looks like if it were to tilt just a little bit more then it would take off sideways, but obviously it is working! It will be interesting to see just how many times the sections can be reused.
While SpaceX gets paid to produce the products for NASA and others, it really isn't all that much money when you start looking at it. Something like $2-3 billion, which seems like not that much for what they are accomplishing.
No one understands how big it is? Only you? Really?

$26 billion has been spent on SLS, with only one launch so far!
Starship is cheap in comparison.
