PW's need a class there is no dought about it. I have a 4 year old that rides one, and maybe next year we will both try to hit the ranch.

How about making the 45+ class a full class again and make a split 50+ and 55+ class? Take a look at how many plus riders are in 40,45,55+ at the regionals.

I agree 100%. While we're at it let's make the ex-pros run in a "masters" class or something. It can't be much fun lining up with Doug Dubach and wondering if you'll even finish on the same lap. A decent 45-49 year old should be able to think he MIGHT have a chance at some glory before he goes to the old folks home! C'mon DC!

X2, a decent local Vet that never raced pro, for the most part doesn't stand a chance against guys like Dubach, Parker or Grewe

The LL classes, as well as local class designation, need a solid reform package.

Twenty years ago, you barely needed a 40 + class - only two dudes would turn out,

now it is packed.

I went to a "local" race in Northern Ohio last year where they had about 35 or so

40 + riders and twelve (12) 50+ combatants.

More 50+ than the woman's class.....

Restructuring is overdue. Major overhaul.

Very, very good point. In Michigan, last year and this year they have made some changes that have given Vet racers more class options in turn give more racers options to compete on an even playing field.

and likewise a vet who didnt start racing until they were Vets stands no chance against someone who has been racing the A class since they were a teen. I wish I had the speed to line up against a Dubach or Emig. I can win a local +40 B class but there is no way I can make the ranch in 30 b/c. Vet A riders should be happy that at least they can make it.

Does Kevin Walker get a free pass in this? NO one, except guys the quality of the Emig and Dubach, is going to beat him in the Vet classes so how does that work? Is he allowed to race?

Kevin Walker was briefly a Pro. I believe he broke both arms at his 1st Pro SX and never did another SX or Pro National.

No one gets a free pass to LL. Everyone must qualify from a area and advance from a regional.

Holy shit! You don't know much about this sport do you?

The PW class is the core of the sport. If you want to know the state of the sport all you need to do is look at the PW numbers. There use to be 20-30 at any local track you went to 4-5 yrs ago. As is stands now the PW numbers are under 10 per track in Michigan. DC let the hot 50 class get out of hand and in turn its killing the sport at the entry level.

A 3 grand buy in for a bike and another 500 for gear is way to steep for a new family to check this sport out.

Walker aint got shit of KJ. I cant wait till this summer to see how it unfolds. And I would love to try to qualify. I can pretty much top ten any +30b class at most races but i dont stand a chance when the douches at the AMA and MXsports walk around with their head up their asses when it comes to class structuring and sandbagging.

you miss understand what I meant by a "free pass" I know how the LL qualifiers work. What I meant is, all these A riders are complaining about having to line up against Dubach, Emig or any other national pro that decides to make a run at a LL title. Kevin Walker was never a factory pro, but no one is beating him at LL. Does he not fall under the same complaint logic as Dubach or Emig?

Dedi684 KJ is fast for sure, but to say KW aint got shit is a bit disrespectful. KW has how many LL titles? Top 10 +30B at a MSC race is no big deal. One season of chasing points in MSC and you will point out to A. The NE is loaded with 30+ guys that never race a series or one organization so they dont point out of AM. How many years have the Pecks been B riders and to LL?

hew bud i dont ride shitbag tracks like claverack... i head to new england where the real competition is. yup i'm also one of those guys that hits all the different org's so i will never point out... that's just the way it is.

and please dont discredit my skills by telling me top 10 in msc aint shit cuz it aint. one of my best friends cleaned house at claverack in the plus 25 and 30b class and he aint all that. We all know wh0 is still going to LL in the 30 B/C class so the problem lies in the rules and lack of enforcement. a guy that has raced expert for 20 years is allowed in B/C! WTF

The real competition is not racing at a outlaw track. If you are not racing district tracks you are not racing real competition. The riders that are fast and have crazy dreams about doing something in this sport are not wasting there time at none AMA/District tracks. Get over yourself.

Aside from the getting smoked part , I think it would be kinda cool to be on the same starting line with Emig and Dubach.

I'm talking about fair competition, that's all. ALL of New England and atleast 50% of New York are NON-AMA. This is NOT my choice for it to be this way. Any weekend I race im on a double gate drop with the top guys from last years Loretta Lynns Vet A classes. I do not race against them any weekend of the year so i dont see why i'd have to race them at an Amatuer championship event.

dude knock yourself out. MSC's vet A classes are like LL regional's every weekend. McMillen won LL, Carlo is just as fast if not faster and Mike Spear runs with them every weekend. Throw in Finkle and a few of the other guys and there is plenty of competition and I would venture to say, just as fast as NESC's Vet classes.

I just can't get how someone who considers themselves a competitor would run away from racing against the best. Where is the pride? You admit you run around and race where ever so you wont point out of B. Seriously, where is the pride? I don't get the big fish in the little pond syndrome all for a plastic trophy? If you are fast enough to be an A rider, why not move up? Where is the gratification is beating guys that you should beat?

Dude you need to just have fun with it. Just in case you were wondering you do not matter. Same goes for all the other vet guys you are racing against.

Don't waste your time pumping yourself up. If you are fast everyone will do that for you.

im not that fast, like i said top ten but by no means a front runner and definitely not an A rider. i know of specific persons who have ridden A for many years yet they are allowed to ride B/C. i think you're missing my point. the other topic is that many people obviously do not realize that the AMA is almost NON-EXISTENT in this area. and not to take credibility from anyone but most of the competition are at these non-AMA organizations. aside from the qualifiers

Last year I qualified and raced at LLs in the 40+ class. I was racing against Doug Dubach and a whole bunch of ex-pros. Remember that Dubach is a former FACTORY Yamaha rider who won a supercross in his day. I am a faster B rider. Never have been pro, never will be pro. Dubach lapped me twice in the first 2 motos and only once in the 3rd moto. Seriously, why is Doug Dubach or ANY former pro allowed to race against people who were never pros in an AMATEUR championship? I won't even dream of trying LLs again in its current format.

LL's is the biggest Pro race we have in the States. I agree with you that the ex factory guys need to race the A class.

Legit B riders have ZERO chance of qualifing for the ranch in +25, +40, +45 in the Northeast.

Michigan has quite a few former pro's and top L.L. finishers that still race the Vet classes here, some once in a while and some on a regular basis. Bowen, Crown, Curry, Currie, Bigelow, Bowman, Grewe. Moegle, Pickett and others. It is kinda cool to line up against them that's true, but once in a while it's nice to get a decent result too.
Just this year we have a "B" class option which makes it a little more fun for some of the rest of us. To me either way, still racing at 47 is fun.

I agree....and I have a few proposals.

I think 30A and 30 BC as well as 25 A and 25 BC are some the worst ideas ever. It takes a guy like me completely out of having fun because I have to race with 4 or 5 guys instead of a full gate.

I get so sick of hearing about how guys don't want race against A riders. If you are 30+ years old then you race against guys who are 30+ years old. Simple.
