Ohlins in Hendersonville was hit hard. All their employees are safe. No  power for 10,000's of thousands. 2 feet of water rained down in 48 hours.

I spend a good bit of time up that way mountain biking in the Brevard area. Such a beautiful part of the country (and some amazing mtb trails). So heartbreaking to see the scope of the damage. Lifting up all the residents and support crews who are aiding in the recovery.

From what I saw on facebook, the actual lodge wasn't too bad but I'm not sure about their trails. I'm hoping not as I like going there for a gravel race every June.

Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek are both closed. They didn't elaborate on the extent of the damage, but I suspect it's pretty extensive. Haven't heard anything about Oskar Blues yet. It sounds like they could open if they wanted to, but they are instead focusing on helping the recovery.

Guys its really bad, the news is just now getting in there enough to be able to try to show some of the destruction. The stuff you see on the news in Boone and Asheville is really bad but its the communities on the outskirts of these cities and into the mountains all through western North Carolina into eastern Tennessee.

They are evacuating people that no longer have shelter using helicopters, but if you still have a house standing they are leaving them and trying to get supplies to them, there was a ton of civilian private helicopters flying people out and supplies in out of their own pockets and with donations before the national guard showed up but even they cant get blackhawks and chinooks into some of these really small landing areas.

This was the flight radar in the area this morning, these are all civilians helicopters, along with a few images that ive saved from social media and such this week....

Definitely pretty bad out there. My mother in law lives in Lansing, north of Asheville. She had been without cell service for about 4 days and has been running on the generator they have as of last night. Can't get out of her road due to a 15ft hole in the road. Folks out there got badly rocked sadly.

We were finally able to hear from my sister last evening.  She lives in Maggie Valley.  Her and my Mom speaks daily so it was pretty worrisome when you lose contact for 6 days knowing all that has been going on.  I called Red Cross Friday and had her name on the list and was happy to call them back last evening to take her off of it.

It turns out that she faired fairly well so we are very lucky.  She lives at the base of the mountain on the route to Cherokee.  She was able to get out and make it to the Casino.  The Casino had internet and she was able to Whatsapp.  They literally live on the last road which would be the start of the devastation leading into Ashville.  They had an idea things were really bad because they heard how Waynesville and a few others got hit but they had no idea about how bad Ashville and I-40 and some of the other places got it.  They have not been able to get a status on her husbands son.  He works at the Biltmore and lives in the immediate area.  There is literally no communication in or out of the area.  The only form of info as of yesterday they had was AM radio.

A few note:  Her road was on Fox news this evening when they were showing pictures of Maggie Valley.  And just from the short conversation I had with her, she was telling about landmarks that I know in the town like the fire department that was flooded and a few other places.  She did inform me that they walked down to Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum and it was fine.

Wife’s friend’s family stayed at our house Sunday night after fleeing from Asheville, had another friend that was missing until Sunday afternoon. Saw Chimney Rock is essentially wiped off the map. Really terrible situation here in NC.

This is heartbreaking, hopefully the gov send the assistance needed and the rebuild strongly considers the next event, as Tim Waltz said, rebuilding with preparedness such as putting power lines underground — and using the power of the fed government it make sure levees are equitable (for those wondering wealthy cities upstream build bigger levees which saves them a small amount of flooding while directing more and faster flowing water to poorer communities downstream who don’t have the funds to build such large levees… so it takes the power of the fed gov to ensure the ‘levee wars’ don’t continue to directly impact poorer communities - but maybe that’s that dastardly DEI and the poors deserve it for being poors).

Anyway hopefully the gov doe their job in repairing, rebuilding, preventing AND preparing…

None of this applies to the areas that were damaged from this storm, its 24" inches of rain on steep terrain it is going to make its way downhill very fast. It would also be literally impossible to bury power lines in that area even if money was no object.

Yeah fair enough, makes sense it wouldn’t apply.

Hopefully their is strategies they can use when rebuilding, that will help them stay safe.  And hopefully, especially if it’s infrastructure that’s needed, the fed gov steps up to build it.

If the federal government wanted to help they could stop geo engineering.

There was also a storm ahead of the hurricane remnants that had already pushed the streams and rivers to max levels before getting 2 feet of rain dumped on them.

I live by the Catawba river where a lot of the mountain drains down to and it is still at 15-20 feet higher than normal and thats after the lake Wiley dam.

It literally hits me in the core to think about these unsuspecting mountain people literally stuck, no medicine, no baby formula, no animal food..

Wife and i started a donation spot. We have one neighbor with a new dually and 24' box trailer heading south Friday. Any donations i cant fit are going with another local couple buddies and their SEVENTEEN other friends with rigs on Monday morning. Large local butcher shop with a full freezer rig of meat going down with them too.

No they're not going to red cross or fema. Were getting drop points from the cajuns that do an incredible job. Also local contacts who can use their church since the government can't take from them.

Unfortunately with work i cant go this weekend. Already trying to plan another run next weekend. Leave friday after work, get close, nap, wake up to deliver then be a willing and able body to work on whatever i can for people. I will hike up a few miles if i need to. Work, then hike back down.

I know theres 59 million ways to donate but if youre looking for someone moto minded, hit me up and ill make sure 110% goes directly to these mountain people in need. Every monetary donation weve gotten ive shared receipts with donators. Each transaction ive gone over and made up the difference with my own cash. My moto cash stash. Might not be riding for a minute because of it, but whatever.

This trailer pic was before the truck load i picked up today and about 7 other people that dropped off after that.

These people need help. Help from people.

This is about the most bizarre bs i have seen mentioned in this whole crisis.

Now hurricanes are woke.

Lake lure, asheville, chimney rock, boone are not some poor communities being flooded because of wealthy sitting behind some levy sending their excess runoff to the have nots.

This is up to 30" of rain on mountainous terrain over a fairly short period of time.

I was in Myrtle beach and the surrounding area for the first round of SMX. I was talking to this local that I met while out celebrating my son's birthday. He was cool enough to take some photos and send them to me. What was interesting is that he told me if I decided to move to N.C or S.C to pay attention to where these houses have been built because a lot of the newer ones tend to be being built in flood zones. 3 weeks later I'm watching houses get swept away. Obviously this isn't the whole story but interesting.

I used to live about 45 minutes from Chimney Rock, which is literally gone. Not to mention the other parts of the east coast that got effected like Cedar Key. It's an absolute travesty.

We lived through hurricane Ian (my wife and i (she was prego at the time)) and that was devastating but it's hard to fathom the amount of destruction that took place in Western NC. My whole family lives in central NC and they've been trying to pitch in to help.

IDK if any of you guys watch Cleetus McFarland on YouTube, but he is doing the lords work.

Us and our in laws share a plot of land we take our camper on every couple weeks in very East Tennessee just outside of Boone and seeing all this devastation and recognizing most of the places is heartbreaking. My father in law made it out there Sunday and its in rough shape with probably 50 trees down but their fifth wheel was spared by inches. we live about an hour and a half east from these places and got some heavy wind and about 8" of rain and it doesn't even compare.

Ive heard some things about the projected death toll that I hope are not accurate, full morgues, funeral homes, counties ordering hundreds of body bags. Hoping this is all speculation but it will most likely be quite a while before we know....

Even if they could bury power lines in that area, it’s useless when roads wash away.  Where do you think buried utilities are buried?

Yes! That was awesome to see Cleetus out there he and Greg Biffle (retired Nascar driver) did a ton and I believe Greg is still doing flights.

They halted all flights in the area for some time while Biden flew in to get his photo op on the ground as well...

The extent of damage all over is just completely out of scope. People still without power as far away as Savannah Ga.

Got home from work and went to town sorting again. Its almost 10 and i just checked vital and got a solid donation from a member here. Heading to the store now to top this 24 footer off to the ceiling with lighter paper products (with his donation and others). Trailer is rated for 11k and a few of us think were over. Putting 12 plys on tomorrow before its heading south. Next 24 footer is being dropped tomorrow to fill for

Could be who knows.  A presidential election is between two sides and comparing VPs based on any metric he’s the better choice and comparing Ps based on any metric Kamala is the better choice.

So whether he is a ‘fucking idiot’ or not is kind of irrelevant, it’s irrelevant.

Youre high. I cannot believe i just read that. Kamala is a brain dead puppet simply built by dems to pull votes to further their twisted agendas.

Now drop the political bs talk when were talkin about people who have literally lost every damn thing.

You know, i dont give a damn whose sign is/was in their front yard on that mountain, but i hope these trailers full of things needed helps them in some way.
