I read that poorly disguised Lewis Phillips THOR PR 'artice'... and it still doesn't make sense.

When a retro LE set doesn't sell their logic seems to be... Nobody is buying it becasue they MUST hate the logo, thats the problem so our best bet is to look to Silicon Valley for design cues and strip as much history as possible because if people didn't remanufactured 2006ish gear that history MUST be what they hate... It's so incredibly dumb...
THE best looking gear out there is ASTARS hands down and they are incredibly modern, exciting and dynamic... and guess what the logo didnt have to dissapear into two square blobs to do it... because the logo IS the branding and without it your just have completely flattened, undefined shit... Attached is the Astar logo through time... they found it and refined it... and its a fucking great logo.
Like how THOR had a fucking great LOGO --
And losing the logo, both THOR and FLY have no branding, FLY has product but nothing unifying it as a recognizable brand... Meanwhile FOX is holding onto the brandmark but flattening it, like APPLE did in 2013, twenty thirteen... and guess what, the brand has lost its shine... I'm abnormally excited for the TLD comeback now that its back with the owner and out of the grubby hands of private equity scum....
So while the piple at THOR might be bike people as you say they are not design people, they are chronically online people who ride...
Whilst I agree with your points above, and the evolution of the Alpinestars logo is awesome to see, i disagree with your point on Fox. I think their new/old fox head branding they’ve gone back to is seriously cool. That minimalist design looks sleek and stylish on everything they put it on

You call it a clearly disguised 'artice' (whatever that is) but they were actually a little concerned about how negative I was...
That took me days – I would never waste that time on a PR. I contacted them because I, like you, was wondering about their direction.

I have no idea what this is saying apart from some stuff about Astars. But, after having worked with THOR for a number of years as a 3rd party as well as being lucky enough to work in the industry there are some things you have miscalculated.
Thor receive requests for all sorts of remakes. They made them, and people didnt buy them. This, as a business decision makes no sense to continue doing, For every person on here that runs it down, 1 person likes it so to look forward is a smart move.
Branding is important, but not to the level you state. You don't have to be so suspicious of everything such as Lewis' article, and the people who work at THOR are actually people and they don't deserve the crap they get especially when they somehow manage to be the longest running gear brand around.
You cant win everyone over, but the negatives are always louder than the positives. Case in point some ramblings about AStars.
And to clarify, TLD was never sold as a whole, Troy always had the controlling share. The lack of anything cool was down to the $25 mill overstock post COVID theyve tried to get rid of. Not that it makes much difference overall, but FYI your waiting for products from the same people, theres just less of them.
. . . only racing forward
If we follow what other brands do . . .

I have not read the article You talk about in Your post. But as far as I know the logo change and retro kits not selling well did not have much or anything to do with each other. I like that the new logo is symmetrical. It is easier to place without looking off balance. My personal logo is not symmetrical and I've had my personal customers complain that it is not centered because of the shape. As a designer I have redone my company logo a bunch of times. Often reverting back to one version or adding the new one alongside the standard one. But designers design.
I had some reservations about the new logo at first too. But if they are trying to rebrand , a fresh logo makes sense. And they can always go back right? They have Hallman that they can do retro stuff with that is much more true to the origins of the brand.
I was a bigtime fan of the Axo stuff from the 90's when I was a kid. And when I look at the new Alpinestars stuff I see AXO . Modified to be a little more modern. I do like a lot of Alpinestars stuff. But also like that Thor is trying new stuff and looking forward.
So now that we know how people feel about Thor's MXON gear. What do You think of the other brands gear that have been posted so far? So far the stuff from Thor is the only new design that I've seen that will be sold to the public, and replica jerseys are available.

Parts Unlimited as a subsidiary of Le Mans Corporation is still a family owned business and a good chunk of their representative's are self-employed. Founder of Parts Unlimited Fred Fox is known for the saying ''Support the sport'' and that haven't been changed since he passed away.
With the Le Mans Corporation it is really passion driven whatever your gig is, anything powersports will do
Collectively, you are talking about people with 180+ years of professional design experience, including the creation of spin-off brands that have moved out of the THOR building and onto their own path within the industry...but go ahead and tell me more about "they are not design people, they are chronically online people who ride...".
We don't need Lewis to write our PR. If you've been paying attention, those come directly from our office every season. I really enjoyed working through that piece because, like Lewis, I love our moto culture and history and see value in providing answers and clarity and direction with regard to the brand and products to those interested enough to learn.
You don't have to like the new icon, that's entirely up to you. Many will agree with you that the previous mask and half-mask were great logos. But if you actually read Lewis' write up, the real, honest answers are in there. We are moving forward, hoping someday you appreciate what you see.
Are you mad bro?
I get excited every time I see this thread at the top only to be let down over and over because people keep bickering about Thor. And now I’ve just done it!
Agreed and props to MAVERICK for continuing to post a bunch of really great pics, there is some awesome stuff this year!
Guys, if you really want to let your feelings out for THOR, please start a separate thread and I'll gladly respond to the hate mail over there.
Thor is just the most recent diversion joining Canadian hookers, copyright infringement and the US military
Seriously. I already replied once about this. Love seeing the cool photos in here, hate seeing all the replies just bagging on Thor.
