Been to nearly all MXoNs since 2007, but couldn‘t make it the last couple of years. So I am happy I can make the trip this year. Been in Matterley Basin in 2017 and just love this track.

So who else from us vitards will be in Matterley next weekend?

I might. I’m only 80 miles (2hrs) from the track. It me be a decision I leave until Sunday morning- just jump in the car and go. And this is heavily based on what the track conditions are like on Saturday.

I may be content to cycle ride, then dit and watch with some beer. At the minute, I’m favouring this.

Isn’t it funny, you are considering a last minute decision to go from a few hours drive away and I am also considering the same from 4000 miles away haha

Yeah got vip silver tickets. Cost me and the Mrs £512 each and another £300 for accommodation, but screw it. This is easily my favourite sporting event and has been for as long as I can remember. I missed 2017 due to going through some personal struggles, so bring it on. Can't wait. Just praying for some decent weather.

if anyone is struggling for accommodation, try a place called Andover, 20 mins away

it has cheap hotels , premier inn and travel lodge , which i cant see being busy

Im curious to see the crowd.  Feel like they are pricing out so many people.

I remember the last Des Nations at Matterly I filled the car with people half interested in moto (mtbers friends etc), guessing from memory tickets were only 30 odd quid.  There is no chance those same people would pay 120 for a day ticket.

Weekend ticket plus pits £200 per person and camping £100 makes £300,I live 5 hours away so  £200 in fuel in camper,I don't think the crowds will be very big

$200'ish for the pits? Are you fucking serious?  I'm expecting unlimited drink and the ability to use a special shitter. Oh and some food.  That's insane that to walk in the pits with you and your hunny/kid/friend it would be $400.  I don't mind the $120 entry fee because I'm going either way. No fucking way I'm giving $400 to look at riders bikes sitting under a tent.

Seems we paid $50 at red bud in 22 and I balked then thinking that was too much.

Lol it's £40 for a pit pass. Still steep but not $200 steep 😂

Sorry I will have to give it a miss this year. My hospital has moved my appointment for a small procedure to this Friday, so I won't be recovered in time to go.

Will have to settle for watching the action on TV.

Will be there with my wife and 17Yo son, then a week in the Alps after nations.  We were sweating it a week ago when it looked like the US was not even sending a team, lol.  Booked a hotel up in Basingstoke back in January and got the "early bird" MXON tickets then as well.  I thought it was just a marketing ploy, that they would significantly increase prices after January 7th, but they really did it, dang.  Hope its a good turnout, I imagine the cost understandably will be a deterrent for a lot of folks...  Can't wait!

I hope you enjoy your trip, Matterley is an amazing track, you’ll be impressed when you see it in person.

Will be airborne in less than 24 hours from the west coast of the U.S.   The last week has been stressful as fuck the team uncertainty, but damn we have a solid team now.   Bring it on!

Haha, no pub research yet.  After the race we are headed toward Stuttgart to visit a friend (he works for Mercedes), then we will see Neuschwanstein on the way down into Austria and Switzerland.  We will have a car, so kind of playing things by ear.  My son does not care about museums so we will focus on castles, mountains, culture and food.  A beautiful part of the world for sure

I live near Sigmaringen, which is located between Stuttgart and the Lake of Constance. There are lots of castles and old ruins around here. That’s the castle of Sigmaringen:

As I stayed in several MXoN camping sites, I can asure you, that it won‘t be the weather that keeps you from sleeping 😅

I'm still not committing till Thursday to purchase tickets. From what I remember from 2017 the Friday night was pretty typical of the nations camp site but the Saturday night vibe was killed by the persistent rain.

Basingstoke not great for pubs

but the angle ( weatherspoons , cheaper than shoplifting, theres also one in  Winchester town center ) is in the town and then you have  quite a  nice little pub, called the bounty, located virtually in the town

Thanks a lot for the advice.

They both seem to be in walking distance from my hotel, that’s great. I‘ll check them out for sure.
