We have 6 guys that are a toss up to win this class, thats as competitive as it gets.

Normally its 3.

I think it goes in this order.

1: Jett (kids too perfect)

2: Tomac (close to Jett but not enough)

3: Herlings (right behind Tomac) (top 3 within 5 seconds)

4: Prado (can't stay with the top 3)

5: Gajser (him and Prado battle for 4th)

6: Romain (a notch off Prado and Gajser 15 seconds back)

Whos all running in Open?

Hunter

Coldenhoff

Who else?

MX3 will be between Hunter and Renaux.  Others will be fighting for the scraps.

I just don’t see Herlings being better than Prado and Gasjer, and don’t forget he is riding with cracked ribs.

Tomac - as an Aussie I was more worried about Sexyon.  Tomac will do OK, but I think the longer motos (vs shorter SMX motos) will be tougher for him.

I tend to agree with a couple of others - Tomac replacing Sexton is at very best a sideways move and in all probability a weaker team - but that would be the case with any rider replacing Tomac.

Overall when compared to the original US team I’d say this one is a lower chance of a win/podium but also far less likely to put in a really bad result.

You're absolutely high on drugs if you think Prado and/or TG243 can't beat Herlings or Tomac.  Especially Prado's consistency up front off the starts.

If it rains, Prado is not going to do well. If it is dry Prado could go 1-1. Not sure if this guy is joking or not but Prado was absolutely laying to wood to everyone on the hard pack to start the season.

For real. Tomac is looking great and everyone is riding high off his SMX results. MXdN is 35min outdoor motos.

Props to Tomac for stepping up, but I don't think this is an upgrade for Team USA at all. A healthy Sexton is better than a healthy Tomac at this point. Tomac only gets selected because of an injury of a rider who is better than him and got chosen over him.

Did you watch the 2nd moto at Ironman? ET3 kept pace with Sexton and AP for 2/3rd of the race and was around 3 seconds back the entire time until he apparently got winded. ET3 pretty much smoked Sexton 4 out of 5 SMX playoff moto's.

They are both super knarly riders and on any Sunday could potentially vie for FMOP.

Not trying to disrespect Sexton because he just won the championship - all I'm saying is Tomac is back and only going to get stronger

Come on mate!  We all know who the FMOTP is, and it's neither Sexton nor Tomac.

Whoa, dude. It's an opinion, not a statement. Just my 2 cents. And as of yet, it IS between Sexton and Tomac, as one fills in for the other. No diss towards Tomac, just a fact that Sexton was the better rider the past weeks/months.

Are you actually comparing a circus like SMX with a real MX-race?

Tomac will be ready for 30+2, he was already ready at Ironman where he showed great pace and endurance. If you think him switching his program to SMX hindered his fitness you’re crazy. This is a 4x MX Champion we are talking about, one who is only 2 injury plagued years from complete dominance of the discipline.

I am a huge Gajser fan but...

Charlotte, not close

Glenn Helen, not close

WW Ranch, not close

Also its a prediction.....

That’s a very small sample size, all in the US and completely lacking any context of anything that’s happened recently. If you apply the same logic you shouldn’t have Tomac ahead of Herlings seeing as Herlings has beaten him 95% of the time they’ve raced against each other.

Tomac has raced 2 MX races in the past 2 years, I’m not saying he can’t win, but to say that both the reigning World Champ (and this years world champ elect) and the rider who’s held the red plate for the vast majority of the season in MXGP can’t run with him based on results from 7 years ago doesn’t make any sense at all

I don't try to pimp on people who have a different subjective opinion than mine. But, reading comprehension doesn't appear to be your strong suit.

Last week the FMOP was Jett, the week before it was Prado two weeks ago Tomac and Jett split that honor

Okay then Rutledge.  Good to see you're still on the forum.  First of all, FMOP is not a term.  Second, FMOTP doesn't apply to whoever won last week. It refers to someone for a period of time.  Stew was the FMOTP for a while, as was Herlings, and now it's Jett.  If you can't see that you have no understanding of moto.

And seeing you've learnt a big new word how about looking at things objectively - that is, using data from the last year or so of racing. Jett comes out on top.

Didn't Seton have more points for the year going into a 3 race circus?

The FMOP (assuming you mean what others meant by FMOTP) changes week to week?

With this lineup that’s probably the ceeling.

Without your best 450 and 250 rider though, that’s not all that bad.

It’s going to be a hard time for any team getting on the podium. This is the most stacked Nations I can remember in a long time. If Team USA finish 4th it may feel like a failure but it’s certainly no disgrace given the competition

Should be interesting. It's our chess team.  All 3 are veterans of the sport and this race in general and should play it smart in regards of trying to get the win.
