Flipping MX and SX?

This is just bench racing so don't burn me at the stake.

To avoid the wet Supercross races and hot Motocross nationals what if they switched the series?

Motocross: February - April

Start in the dryer, southern states and finish in the northern states in the spring. Avoid the heat and honestly if it does rain i'd rather have an outdoor mudder than a wet Supercross.

Supercross: May - September

Less chance of a mudder and racing is at night so you avoid the heat. Only downside is stadium occupancy. You're in the middle of baseball season and towards the end you're scheduling with football.

SMX: October (Just like the old Monster Cup)

[For reference 2024: SX Jan-May, MX May-Aug, SMX Sept.]

This includes the 6 weeks of breaks they currently have. I've heard some racers say they'd actually prefer less breaks just to get the season over and have a bigger off season. Ideally if you eliminated a couple of those weeks you'd delay the MX start to try and get into warmer weather. I get a lot of SX rounds are in covered stadiums, but not all. Plus MX avoiding the heat would help the guys with fatigue through this 37 week season.

Just a thought.

There’s a greater than 0 percent chance of winter hanging on in April in northern states.

You say that this would be an answer to racing on wet tracks, but you want to race outdoors in the spring north of the mason dixon line? Horrible idea

Most of these stadiums are too busy to take 3 days off to set up for and tear down a SX track in the summer.

For starters, every baseball stadium is unavailable from April to September.  Any football stadium that is home to an MLS team is also unavailable.

You’d have to run a track such as Southwick last and HOPE that there isn’t snow, frost, mud, rain, or all of the above on that weekend

A national summer SX series would be neat to see at larger summer fair venues under the lights(full size SX track). Might draw some AX guys and other random Pro's -if they could round up decent purse money and start money.

But I would leave both of our regular series(MX & SX) alone - if it ain't broke ,don't fix it!

Alternate the events. Then we can get some outdoor races back in the southeast and Texas, since the heat wont be so bad

Yeah but instead of hot, Washougal would be a miserable mudfest on ice.

Oh yeah seen it a lot back in the day.  Washougal can get pretty bad.

Easy, just make it a 12 round Southern California series

Oh yeah 😂 I've ridden the track with just a little moisture on top and there was no traction. Awesome photos.

It’s not a horrible idea, just needs a few tweeks and turns here and there.

Football and baseball pretty much make that impossible, baseball April - October and football September to end of Jan .
