I think old man time has taken a hold of Seb, with the injury and a slow comeback and no chance for a title again this year, the burning desire fades and so it goes. He was a major contender and a power to be reckoned with and the inconsistency seemed to start after the Pourcel family team started it`s break apart
sharkey wrote:
that sucks after watching him race stewart at the mxon i thought great things were instore for him. how old is he?
How did the Pourcel family get ripped apart?

Is Seb too old to bounce back?

Alessi had some horrible lines that really cost him. Coming off the highest part of the back REM track he kept losing time on a middle line off the top with a big kicker in it. Even when he saw the smooth outside line others were railing he didn't use it. Then at the very bottom where the REM track hooks back into the Nat track there was that thythm section of doubles that he just never seemed to get right.

Bummer for Nagl when he passed Mike there and then he got absolutely screwed by the fence webbing getting tangled all throughout his bike. The poor guy was trying to pull out wooden stakes that were completely wedged between the tire and swingarm amid all the tangled webbing. Only way to clear that rubbery plastic webbing crap out in a timely fashion is with a really big, really sharp knife. Of course, the average track worker isn't packing a full-on Rambo knife.

Not sure what the deal was with Cairoli's "pauses" at times but he was fast and smooth. BT looked good all though he kinda messed up his first moto with crashes. Didn't see a single incident all day off the supposed "Triple Stepup of Doom" other than the Russian? guy #77 doing a slow-motion over-the-bars at 5 mph when he doubled it in practice. lol

Great day of racing, great weather ... and the sparse crowd made for perfect viewing access everywhere. I like the earlier start time and the way they keep the program moving ... but WTF is up with that 30 second burst of Euro disco that signals the start of each moto???

Cairoli's "pauses" in moto one were because his shift lever fell off and he was stuck in third gear for the last several laps!

I Bet that buck tooth goof ball could lay the wood on your wife or girl friend if he made a play.

Just saying!!!!

What dude judges another dude by his teeth? You must be Gay. Just saying once again!!!

So Alessi was on a mild GP bike and not his AMA bike? And Cairoli was on a full on GP bike?

Cairoli and Alessi were on identical bikes. I can't believe how many Americans get all crazy about the "works" GP stuff. With the exception of some stuff like Aprillia's, carbon/alu gas tanks, there is absolutely zero difference in the quality of GP/AMA bikes.

Equipment commercial fixation associated with magazine advertisements and excuse for lack of rider talent compared to the rider that just beat them, hard to step up and just say" he was better than me"

Mu sic was what they asked tobe played before the start of each moto. And maybe the finish was what KTM wanted if Mike did not yard them. It's about points for them and with Mike in between the other riders it makes the points gap wider. They are a team. And as for the crowd it was way down for several reasons but the first shot has been fired.

Cairoli is a more talented and skilled rider than Mike Alessi. That being said, I saw their bikes side-by-side and in action. They aren't the same.

Ok, but what were the differences then? Apart from the obvious ones like power, suspension and framework. Do you know of any specific parts related to performance that we can look at? There are heaps of photos of both bikes, so maybe it could be easier to spot them if you pointed them out?

Going up the Hills, Mike didn't seem to have as much power. I'm not pulling this out of my ass. I watched the race in person. I also think nationalism in motocross is stupid.

Well I didn´t notice that, but I did notice quite a few times were he struggled to build the speed and momentum AC, CD and BT had going up, but other times he was right there seemingly not losing an inch.
But what parts are different? What makes the bikes different to the extent were they should perform differently?

So it had nothing to do with the line selection, corner speed, suspension set up that the two riders were using, just the bikes? You must have really gotten involved to know all that.

Apparently I am doing a bad job of presenting myself. I am not some stubborn American Mike Alessi fan trying to make excuses for him losing. I am just pointing out something I noticed. Sure... it could have been the rider but Mike knows that track well enough to understand how to get up the hills. They were using the same lines in the corners too.

Alessi must be pissed that Cairoli schooled him at Glen Helen, on his hometown track, where he has raced almost every weekend apart from Hangtown! Deep down that's gotta hurt, then factoring in Toni loosing his shift lever, getting passed , then re-grouping and charging past Alessi again. Wonder if this has knocked his confidence for Freestone?, after his dominant win at Hangtown, then being brought back down to reality at USGP by someone who had never ridden the track before!Wink

Roczen and Herlings had their worst rides of the season in the US but Herling came back well in moto one and Roczen went from last to 5th and probably would have got 3rd or 4th if it hadn't been cancelled early. The shame was the first moto when Roczen and Herlings where right there with Musquin - that would have been the race, those three have been the fastest all year but the race between them never materialised. Musquin got the starts and Roczen didn't that has been the difference all year.

Cairoli and BT rode aweseom and Nagl rode great too he was catching Aless and AC in moto one and had just passed Alessi when he crashed in moto2.
For AC to beat Mike in the backyard was impressive, if Mike was going tobeat him anywhere it was here. BT I said was my favourite for the nationals before they started, he is awesome on a 450 and just proved it.. he should have been on the podium at hangtown too.

I think the GP riders just proved they are just as good as the American riders.. but I knew that already Wink
