First ever DITD out east is coming to HIGH POINT this OCT. Wondering what to expect and if anyone has any advice on what there favorite event to race in? They have a action pack weekend with tons of different races to sign up for and its kind of overwhelming. If i did every race i wanted to i would be broke so wanted to pick and choice. What's every one thought on this event? It also looks like Saturday format is the same as Sunday.
Isn't Florida still considered the east?
South I’d imagine
My son and I spent close to $250 each in entry fees.
for the baller on a budget, get a buddy and race the team race, then also do the Coup de Grace, so you get a cool bib to prove your manliness for having raced the gnarliest and longest race of the weekend.

I’ve gone to DITD Down south every year since they’ve had it, it’s even on my birthday weekend. I think I’m going to take a break from next year though. They advertise 30 minute motos, but my two classes last year averaged 22 minutes and 24 minutes, started requiring pit bike passes, and completely lacked the “party” aspect and just felt like another money grab amateur race. One of my favorite things about the previous years was running the MX track backwards so it really was as close as you could get to a traditional old school “GP” type of race. This year they scrapped that idea and added in a bunch of booters that needed regroomed every other moto.
We have never been to one. Always seen the videos and jumped on it once it was announced. We will be the Friday - Sunday camping out of our trailer.
As long as the High Point version matches up to the energy the first few years of FL had you guys will definitely have a good time. Some of the most fun racing I’ve got to take part in.
Interesting new concept. Break practice up into 3 and 2.5 hour sessions that you pay for separately.
Considering that most East Coast tracks (i.e. Southwick) run practice from 9 to 4pm, I'm not sure how I feel about that...
Just an honest question...... Doesn't the MX Sports crew own, or run High Point? Being serious,
Yea, the Coombs family built and owns the track.
Whether or not they are promoting this race and setting the schedule/prices or simply operating the track for a promoter to set schedule/prices is the question I'd ask myself.
Alphado, you’re taking your camper and you have the right attitude. You’ll have a blast.
I did a couple of DITDs at LACR way back when (thanks Swap!), and had a ton of fun, but never camped out. Felt like I missed out on some of the camaraderie. I raced the Coup de Grace twice and finished once. Hella fun! It was cool being a rolling chicane when fast guys like Ward and McGrath came flying by, yelling.
Thanks for the honest answer. I appreciate it...... For some folks, enough is NEVER enough.
The early years of DITD at LACR were amazing.
Thanks for all the input guys. A lot of older guys in the area are upset cause this is the weekend they use to have the DC big Dave (combs) vet national. Now they turned it into DITD,they still have just a section of the racing for the vet national guys in the race order. But as you know with the bigger name event the prices go way up a lot of folks are unhappy. Will see how it plays out I’m excited for it and will see it may be a better event combining with the DC big Dave vet nat or maybe they should have left that event alone.
If I were local to this track, I would find another local track that weekend and ride there…I”m all set with the big $ male bonding scene….
I don't know if I qualify as the older/vintage crowd but I have to admit that while this event seems cool, I am a bit upset that it has sort of replaced the Vet Natty. I went to do the registration and it is kind of weird. Like is practice only on Friday? It sort of seems like. And when I look at the time schedule for the Sat events. It's basically GPs until like 2:30 and then the "Vet MX races." I can only assume that since those look to not start until around 3pm, that it's no practice and a 1 moto format? Because on the normal Vet National days, practice and 2 motos with all of those classes takes all day and it's a long day (with how popular that event has become.) Also, my other question is if the MX races will be on a much shorter track, since I would assume the GP track using a lot of the track, might not be easy to switch right from GP to MX only? I dunno, it seems like they messed with a good thing. I'm not totally sure that I'm going to go. I wanted to run my main bike (250F) in my age group and then my 98 in the Revolution class. But now that it's switched, I don't want to go down there to wait until 3pm to do 1 4-lap mx race and pay $100 for entry and 2 classes. Again, not trying to be negative but I was just trying to understand the day schedule, as there is very little info. I asked in the local Facebook group and no one seems to really know.
Same here. I took vacation time to make the trip to the Big Dave weekend in hopes of getting in a bunch of moto's, but now that it is a DITD event I am second guessing myself due to the entry fees and I assume less track time.
Now they want $45 to rent a transponder. Can I just buy one? Not sure how that works.
Pit Row
I just saw that too. Yes, you can buy one. I don't own one for MX (just for RC racing) but I've not needed one for any other races that I do. So that would just be 1 more expense for the day. I'm really bummed about this whole deal and I really don't want to be.
Probably will be a gate fee too once we get there. I too am losing excitement about this event. I was so pumped when they announced it.
Have you visited their website? All of the fees and charges are there including gate fees.
The gate fee is not listed on the registration, you have to scroll down on the main page to see that. So I can see how someone would maybe miss it.
But regardless, it is just a big change both in track time, atmosphere and pricing compared to the Vet Natty. So it's just a questionable decision to merge the 2 events. It's almost like 2 different crowds. But it is what it is. I may sit this one out and just ask people that went, if it is worth it, for next year. It's hard enough to squeeze in a full day to go racing and I don't want to waste the time and money to go and get lackluster track time and be disappointed.
Event prices are not too bad and free dry camping is cool. Just feel like for all the entry fees every hour you are spending $50 if you want to race all the different classes they have.
Mx338 Southwick has a big Vet race coming up in 2 weeks…Friday practice and Saturday races… so..hipster cool guy bendover for Mx sports or play in the National track sandbox👍
Does anyone know who to contact for awards for DITD Out East? I won two team races and the results were really messed up. I’m listed online as winning and they said they’d ship them, but it’s been how long and I’ve gotten nothing.
