So far every picture I've seen of the KTM 65 riders at SMX showed kids running the 2023s. Does anybody know why? Was it the same at LL? I would think that the bigger kids especially would want to run the 24/25 models since they can adjust the height of the bike.
I'm interested as well. Own a '23 65SX for my daughter but will soon be in the market for another one ('24/'25) for my son. Even entertaining a YZ65 due to price...
Like their 125's they are riddled with issues. On Reeds vlog he even mentions the problems of the new 65.
What problems they are i don't know.
One thing is for sure it looks like Cobra have taken over as king of the 65 class.
The little YZ65 needs to shed some lbs.
Back in January I was looking at new 24 KTM 65’s. At the time there were issues being reported with one of the cylinder manufacturers. That is odd if there were none at SMX. I believe dealers were swapping out the bad cylinders for customers. Even tho I believe the Austrian bikes are superior, we went with a yz so my son could match dad’s bike.
Because most kids are at the top of 10-11 class and we're not going ride or develop a 1st gen bike for 1 season of racing. The younger kids were on 2024s.
Hinson, smith, welzien, Gresham lewis, hall etc all on 24s

I bought a 24 a couple of months ago. Everything was signed and done, but we didn't even make it out the door. The mechanics were running the bike up and down the street. They finally came in and explained the casting issue that KTM was having with the cylinder. So, they uncrated another one for us, which has been fine. We've got about 25 hours on it.
We also have a 23 and my son likes the 24 better.
That makes sense.
My dealer has '25 KTM 65SX's in stock. Anyone know if they have the same casting flaw as the '24s or any other issues to note? I think there was a rea wheel bearing issue on the '24s as well?
Ya but to be fair Reed was always a critic of bikes lol... does anyone ever have him on record saying he "liked his bike setup"?
Gearbox and top end problems on many 2024 bikes.
His first podium on his Kawi. Complimented the bike and his mechanic
They do not.
The physiological advantage and the cool factor far out-way any performance advantage he may or may not have been able to use.
Why not 22 Motosports?
Cobra can’t get Smart a bike to make it through the race.
