Anyone go from a 23+ ktm to a 25 crf450r? I want to go back to a bike with spring forks and it’s between Honda and Yamaha for me.

Im switching from 24 gasgas 350 and getting the new Honda 450 tomorrow. I'll try to remember to come back on here after I ride it next week. Going to get the suspension done by FC before I ride it.

The suspenders that bad? I did this on my 23 and it still was crap. That and the chassis has me worried about switching.

How’s the handling? I could never get comfortable on the prior gen chassis. Thinking bout switching from my 24 YZ.

I just put 2 ride day on my '25 250F and the second day was on a sandy track that got rough (not end of day in a race day but still). I felt a little bit of headshake on a fast downhill-uphill section of the track that surprise me a bit. I can still put the fork lower to help on this but that section was the roughest part of the track and the fact that you load the fork going down-up could be an explanation. I'm still amaze how easy the bike is to pick your line and switch line to avoid the rought part (I'm a Vet rider). The front wheel track really well and same for the rear. It's a really balanced bike (remind me of my 2006 CRF450 with FC suspension and event stock it was amazing). The latest 250F that I rode was a '19 KTM this summer (I rent the bike to see if I still have the passion for MX). I can say it's the best stock handling bike I ever owned (I owned over +20 bikes I lost the count at some point).

FYI, I just got back into MX after 4 years without bikes and riding. I was a Vet B - mid pack in the past but I have a (I think) a really good feel for bike setup because I spend a lot of time on this and did technical review on a french canadian website back in the day.  I raced/rode for over 20 years and with 5'10'' 200lbs (heavy for a 250F thanks to crossfit), my setting are the MXA suggestion with +2 on rebound and compression (softer) and click and 1/4 more on compression shock. It's usually my go to starting point for settings for many years with stock suspension. The showa fork are senstive to every click change (much more on this bike but my memory could be ... deffective at 44). I'm super happy with the bike, if I had one wish is having a little bit more power to lug the bike more but I didn't feel riding a 450 for my comeback was a smart choice and I never got along KTM/Husky/GasGas otherwise I would have consider a 350 (in fact I did to have a better price on a leftover '24).

Any luck  getting any WE 250’s or 450’s?

Honda has not yet let us order Works Editions of either size.  We are told the 250WE's are coming soon, but quantity's will be low.  450WE's are due in October-so possibly November if Honda has any delays.

I only did a few laps and I ride a 24 Ktm 300sx and a 22 tc125. With my very limited ride time though it was great, I can’t stand four stroke engine braking so that always is tricky for me when entering corners if I’m off the throttle. But with that said this Honda was a lot less tricky for me than her 19 husky. It has a lot better free roll. It felt a lot closer to the new 23-24 chassis Ktm than my older 22 chassis. What felt closer was the ability of the bike to simply follow the front tire, point it where you want to go and the bike follows. Even with .8 hours on it the bike felt plush and stable. She took one moto to get used to it and then was turning better times than on her 19 so that was rad to see so fast.

How does she find the suspensions on the Honda? Granted I'd have them adjusted according to my level and weight, a few friends of mine have told me that, as a girl, I should steer clear from the Showa 49 as they're too stiff and they would just tire me too much. Others have said they're fine.

I'm coming off a Husqvarna '24 and most likely I'll just go for it and get the Honda.

She felt it was stiff,  but importantly not harsh. Just a lot more hold up, she actually liked it. She’s only 130 pounds and has my old kit suspension set up my race tech for her, she’s doubled in speed since that was set up for her so I think this stock stuff is gonna work out nice. I’m 180 and vet A and it felt great way better than her stuff for me! Now I stole that set back sent it to race tech to be set up for my 125!! Stoked on that!

We have a couple 2025 CRF250R's on sale for an out of state buyer, no loan, at $8798 OTD.  This is $100 less than Honda's MSRP, + destination, no prep, and documentation included.  We take trades if they are titled in your name.  We can finance if you are in TX, but then you have to add T, T,&L.  Jason at kentmotorsports.com.

FYI, if you buy a bike out of state to avoid sales tax and titling, you won’t be able to trade it in or sell it through a dealership.  You’ll need to sell it private party to someone that doesn’t require a title.  That isn’t a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

Most people want the certificate or origin these days which should come with the bike.

5 hour drive round trip later and she’s in the garage, $8400 OTD. Excited for first ride. Did notice build quality appears better than my 24 YZ250F (wish I could say that about the 24 Tacoma I had a deposit on I decided against).

Cockpit felt good sitting on it. Just need to find what everyone’s recommended sag and clickers are.

I've been running 105ish mm race sag (32-35mm free sag) and liking that with stock clicker positions. 210ish# on a 25CRF450

No way in hell. Next truck will probably be a full size, just not a new gen tundra with the engine issues.

About to list my GG EX 350, and I’m seriously considering getting a 250RX. Seems that I can do an exhaust, Vortex, and revalve on the Honda for less than a stock Austrian 350. The Austrian bikes have been good to me though… has anyone made the switch without regret?
