I know a couple of guys who have bought the "new" ATK version for trail riding, and they love them. I think they were replacing XR250s and XR400s, though.....
They designed the bike right after Doug Henry was winning on the original YZ400 four stroke.
The original motor design was slated as a Fuel Injected 400, so all the castings and parts were made for a 400.
Soon after, the AMA made the limit 450 so they were already behind the 8-ball. They managed to
make it a 440, but it was down on power compared to the YZ450 and the CRF450 that had just entered
the 4-stroke market. The suspension settings were way off from the factory too, and it weighed a little more than
anything else. If they would have taken more time to design it and the AMA hadn't thrown them a curve,
they could have been a contender. Oh well.

This is your 1st rodeo, huh?

Looks like they got a new frame and engine.
Who is the engine made by now?

It looks like a new Husky motor.

Huh?
It looks pretty cool. What it might ride like, not so sure.

Idiots are born every day, you'd be surprised how many kids I've seen buy POS korean bikes from a local shop. Watch RacerX's coverage of the Indy trade show when he goes around saying, "Oh look, it's the new ..." as the video clips cycles through 10+ no name copy-cat bike brands.

The difference between the Chinese knock-offs and that ATK are huge. The Chinese knockoffs are cheaper than the Japanese bikes! That ATK is probably $7000 at least.

haha 7 Grand!!! For that? Ill stick to my Hondas.
Knowing the past, you are probably right. But how do you know without riding one? The bike they showed at the Indy show is a brand new bike from top to bottom.
That ATK ....216 lbs????? No really!!
58-65 HP??? No really!!
That's funny. Too bad they made the #1's out of electrical tape. What do they say? Only have one chance to make a first impression. Does look somewhat impressive compared to what they have offered in the past.
[quote="MXRose3":sy1udtl7]From what I remember about it, I think they just got into motocross at the wrong time.

The story goes that ATK is trying to work out a deal where they will building a bike around a couple
of Highland's motor. Here's a pic of the Highland 450MX proto which they hope to have to market later
this year in their homeland of Sweden.
Highland currently has a Supermoto version that they are racing
quite successfully with a former Husaberg factory pilot on the Swedish/Euro circuit.

You're right, he had a huge lead right up until the bike quit running out of the blue and it wouldn't restart for the rest of the day...
